I'm realising that what should be my "I'm excited to be going camping with friends," adrenaline surge this morning is being experienced as "I'm anxious. Something isn't right and I shouldn't be doing this."

And it sucks.

It sucks to have been in a damaging situation so long that it has reworked the way my brain and body chemistry perceive pleasant things as dangerous.

But, having realised this is a good thing. And though life sucks, God is still good

Questions of the Amestrian military never leave my brain. What happened when Hughes "hired" Sheska to work at Central? Can you just hire someone into the military in Amestris? Do they not have to complete basic training first? Did Hughes drag Sheska over to Amestrian Fort Sill and say "good luck, see you in ten weeks"?

And this is a much less burning question, but I want to know how Hawkeye's in-processing went. When you join the military (in America at least) you get a full physical evaluation done, in which, for a very brief moment, you're fully naked so they can make sure you don't have anything like unaccounted for surgical scars and stuff like that. Do they do that in Amestris? Did the doctor see Hawkeye's tattoo? That kind of thing has to be written down. It would be on her record.

Imagine Hawkeye showing Mustang the secrets to flame alchemy for the first time, saying "the only people who've seen this are you, my father, and the lady at MEPS who made us do a duck walk to make sure our joints moved correctly."

Today, while doing job near a racetrack, I heard a horse walking down the road. As I listened I remembered the complete wonder and excitement I felt as a kid whenever I heard a horse gently clip-clopping along. I think, if I'm open to it, I could still feel that kind of wonder.

i'm just imagining what it must have been like being havoc in that hospital room after the Lust fight. like, you've just discovered homunculi exist and that your ex(?) girlfriend was one, and then she stabbed you. you're still processing that one because you know in a creeping realisation sort of way that it's Really Bad. meanwhile your CO who also got stabbed but proceeded to Burn Himself Alive in order to save your life, his life and everyone else's lives (by k wording your girlfriend) is in the bed next to yours.

and you're just laying there, listening as your coworker, who's the most steady, level headed person you know, confesses to your CO that she heard he was dead and just. had a complete and utter breakdown. just gave up utterly on life and was ready to let the homunculus kill her dead. because she wasn't willing to go on living if your CO wasn't alive. like, what do you even do with that?

oh yeah, and as you're laying there real quiet pretending you don't exist, your CO's response to this is basically "ok don't do it again." i mean really, what do you even do with that???
