TCP #5 (Option X)
The event I chose to go see was From Camelot to Kent State. This is a Pop Art Exhibit that is being shown at the Detroit Institute of Arts. The exhibit is located just few steps from the entrance. It includes several famous Pop Art artists such as Claes Oldenburg, Corita Kent, and Andy Warhol. The room that showcased the works was a long with white walls and a hard wood floor that glistened because the room was very well lit.
The showcase was very busy as many people were wishing to see the works, but nevertheless I was able to view nearly all of works. Several of the pieces struck my eye. The first was Andy Warhol’s 10-part series on an electric chair. The pieces all different colors in unison with Warhol’s style each is a different color, but the exact same image. He was inspired to make this piece because of the execution of two Ethel and Julius Rosenberg. They were executed because they were found to be soviet spies. The different color choices on each piece created a different aesthetic for each piece. This use of color also created a different focus on different parts of the picture.
Another piece that intrigued me was Profile Airflow by artist Claes Oldenberg. This piece is made entirely of plastic. Oldenberg had worked for nearly a year with a wood relief before experimenting with plastics. He was inspired to create this piece because of a toy model of a Chrysler Airflow he owned as a child. This Profile or Airflow is one of the largest ever created. The piece is a blueish-green almost teal color, this artwork of a car has a girded background. The car is outlined on the background which gives it a bolder profile. This allowed Oldenberg to make the piece seem more streamline.

With the invention of the internet people can now publish their opinions instantaneously and with ease. The internet also gives a blogger a wider range of viewers. Before the early 2000 people had to find a way to do this without having an open public viewing area. So many people stated their opinions through books. Before the tech boom killed nearly all the of the bookstores. This is where people went to further their knowledge on a situation. Libraries were also very popular. This was very good at the time, but as we now know the internet allows a person in one search to find thousands of results. While some library and bookstores carried many books, none could keep this many. If a building housed as much information as the internet, it would probably be the size of the whole state of Texas. The internet has many advantages that any bookstore does not. The internet gathers new information daily while a bookstore takes maltiple weeks to recive new books as does a library. A blog can allow someone to express their opinion in a short or long manner. If blogger had to make a book, their opinion may never be heard. Some blogger do not need a couple hundered pages to get their point across. The new age allows people to more frequently express themselves and their opinions. This allows the readers to gage what the true opinon is on any issue.

Video Question
I think every one of the projects should be considered art. This is because the all of the artist used their artistic ability to put all the pieces in place.

The new technology I found was sports viewing through a VR or virtual Reality headset. This new aged tech allows the wearer to be put in the front row. At the moment a headset and the subscription cost roughly around five hundred dollars but as the technology become more widely produced this will drop. This technology has goods and bads. This technology can be good for someone who is not in the same area as their favorite team. This also allows someone who cannot afford a front row seat the ability to feel they do. It may not be cheaper at first, but it is more like an investment. Once the headset is bought and the pass the person will be able to watch many more games than using the money on two or three games. The bad part of this technology is that it may create a dip in attendance to games as the technology become more widely used.

A technology that scares me is artificial intelligence or AI. This is technology that is slowly switching more and more jobs for humans. In the early 20th centry the introduction of the car created many jobs that human could do to create things such as the motor vehicle. At the start of the 21st some of the jobs had been switched over. Now not long ago the Ford Motor Company open the Ford Rouge Factory. This is factory that is totally robot produced. This is not the only industry that this is happening to, many other industries are also having the same “innovations”. I think that 20 years maybe even 15 years this will be a major issue for the blue-collar working class.

Athletes should not be able to take performance enhancing drugs. This creates an unlevel playing field for any athlete that also competes but choses to not indulge. Some of these drugs have been condemned because they allowed the user play better. For example, in track and field if a runner in the hundred-meter dash was given a P.E.D. he might gain one tenth of a second. That might not seem like much, but most races are decided by just that much. If the drugs are deemed safe than it may be ok. At the same time, it would have to be something used by everyone or it wouldn’t be fair. If they are deemed safe, they may be, but does it really help the sport. The word enhance means to further improve quality. This bring up to me that if a person is good enough to make it professionally in the first place why then do, they need the drugs. If they are not good enough to make it without these, then why are they even playing? The only one of these kinds of drugs that I am somewhat of with is ones that build muscles. But, according to an article from the Mayo Clinic by their staff. They list the many reasons why these drugs are good and bad, and most of the time the bad out way the goods. Many of these drugs can mess with many of the body's natural functions. Such things as hair loss, diabetes, dehydration, and heart enlargement. These effects make me realize that these drugs may have too many inconsistencies to be used regularly. That is why I think they should be carefully analyzed before being labeled for safe use.

TC Post 1
In Nick Briz’s video he lists four reasons why he left Facebook. First, he talked about the filter bubble. His main issue with the filter bubble is that it is only allow you to see what you. He said that this doesn’t let you change your mind. Next, he mentions “recycled likes”. This is when Facebook interprets a person liking a post as them liking other post from the same group that posted. This could mean that a like on in his words “someone thinking the McRib is disgusting, as liking Mcdonalds”. Third, he brought up sponsored stories. This is when a post is made about liking a brand of gum, he says that Facebook can use this post to promote a brand. This post will now be seen by all the user's friends. Facebook is then paid by the company for the advertisement. This can be done because it is in the term and services. Last, he said they are experimenting on many users. He brought up a study he found. In this study a group of researchers had experimented on users by exposing them to either happy or sad content. They found that by the end of the week that they had caused each group to post something of the same content they were shown either happy or sad. After he had started to deconstruct his account, he became somewhat sad because he was finding old memories. He was also frightened by two things. One was that he would lose track off his friends. He also was afraid that he might miss out on future events that he wouldn’t be invited to. He mentions Facebook Graph, and Duck Duck Do I have never heard of either of these applications. Contrary to Nick, I guess I have just become use to apps using algorithms to show what “I want”. In the almost 5 years since this video many things have changed on the internet. Even YouTube where he posted this video uses algorithms. I am a Facebook user, it has, especially since I graduated, to keep up with my friends and family. Nick has some very good points, but for me it is worth more to keep up with people, then to worry about if my post is an ad.

For my data collection project I collected my NBA2K19 stats. I found that I do better before 5 pm. That might be because after 5 many more people that are good at the game get on. I also found that I average 1.1 perfect shots a game with a high of 4.

In the fut6ure I would like to make this piece differently. First I would do some more effects. Such as the basketball or head area, I might make it look like a different texture. I would also like the shoes to be brighter.
