I WANNA BE ABLE TO SHAPESHIFT!!! Imagining it is not good enough. I gotta wake up tomorrow after getting metamorphosis'd and being a massive fuckin beetle or some shit. Preferably then with the ability to turn into anything else and use the magic and other abilities of whatever I turned into, though I don't think that was the point of the story.
#4am thought#PLEASE. AS A TREAT.#dreams and a vivid imagination are kind compromises from an uncaring universe which i will take because i must but will not settle#the whole 3 people who see this are gonna hear about it#this is why im doing my degree in biotech i will invent shapeshifting you just wait

i think you can recognize that the usage of ai by students of all grades and all around the world to cheat through their assignments is not a personal moral failing but just yet another symptom of the mechanistic if not, at this point, basically dehumanized processes of our education systems which are nowadays almost solely focused on demanding production from students and churning out degrees required for jobs while ignoring any tangible verification of their actual knowledge, intellectual development and critical thinking skills, much less their mental health, while also pointing out that using ai to write your essay isn't a power move to cheat a flawed system, it is behaving exactly as the system designed, it is cheating yourself by giving up your ability to speak, think for and challenge yourself and bowing your head to powers who will only benefit from not being questioned, and the only reason text genai is so widespread right now is because it was born on the perfect breeding ground that is anti intellectualism

You do not need to be okay now.
Knowing that you 'will be okay' is good.
Using the future to neglect the present is not good ("Are you alright?" "I'll be fine").
If you are not okay, don't wait alone for it to get better.
Reach out.

#mental health#coping#reach out however you need#even if it's just quietly watching a movie with a friend#don't isolate yourself#there is always someone to reach out to#even if it's a stranger on a hotline#even if its getting to know someone youve only spoken to a couple times#you are not alone

This is why, in discussions and arguments, you need to know both what you believe in and how to convey it. Sometimes it’s easy to get baited into a harmful disproval, because they’re often simple and obvious, but as stated above, they can weaken your overall stance if you don’t realise what premise you’re accepting.
It is easy to point out that many autistic people work, and it is true that autism does not always (or even often) cause impairment to that extent. This shows that RFK is wrong, which is completely true, and can achieve the goal of undermining his credibility, if that’s solely what you are aiming for, if you’re willing to accept the premise that it is better to be able to work than not.
It is much harder to argue, in the capitalist society we live in, for the stance that those who cannot work should not be demonised or viewed as lesser than. That stance will face far more opposition, and so may be less effective at undermining RFK’s credibility on a broad scale, but will be more effective in promoting basic human rights and probably more accurately represents the issue.
I understand both tactics, and think that both can be used effectively in different contexts, but if you’re using the former, you need to know the implications. I think the most effective tactic is a mix of both - ‘many autistic people can work, AND they shouldn’t have to work to be treated like people’.
Know what you believe, what you’re saying and what you’re accepting by not saying.
I fucking hate that the general response to RFK Jr's eugenist take on autistic people is "autistic people do pay taxes, autistic people do work, autistic people do date!"
Some autistic people don't and that shouldn't make them less worthy of life. Some autistic people do need constant help and support and that shouldn't make them less worthy of life.
Once again we're falling in the right wing trap of :
They make a hateful, fascist statement
Instead of focusing on the fact that it is hateful and fascist we try to show them that they are factually wrong
We throw our own allies and the most vulnerable of us under the bus in the process
We legitimise an only slightly less hateful, fascist view as we go
They have completed their goal of making us accept the still hateful, fascist second version, hurrah. What a victory.
Right now what we're getting to with that is that autistic people who can work and pay taxes are okay, and the others aren't. Fuck this shit.
Same thing happens with the people who are being deported ("they have a visa!", "they didn't even have a criminal record!" -> even if they didn't have a visa, even if they did have a criminal record, deporting them and detaining them in what's essentially a concentration camp wouldn't be okay, you absolute tools of fascism.)

just wanted to share the National Down Syndrome Society’s message for this year’s World Down Syndrome Day (21st March) 💛💙
#it is vital that disabled people have the same rights and comforts that able-bodied people do#it blew my mind when i was told about the fire alarm issue for deaf people#i am able-bodied and the thought had never properly crossed my mind#i know a profoundly deaf person working in a local kitchen and the place doesn't have a flashing light fire alarm#that's potentially deadly!#but it's one of the many things that is easy to miss if you haven't lived with these extra issues before#disability

There’s that length of stillness between 2 and 4am where it feels like time has stopped passing. That everything is still. But you know it hasn’t, and soon it will be Past 4 and then the Oops kicks in.
#that is to say I have 10 minutes until the Oops#Why must sleep be necessary#procrastination#9 minutes
