Today I completed a 55 minute, 7:00 AM Cycle Class with Rachel (my favorite instructor). My sprinting has greatly improved from spinning. It looks like my new bedtime will be 9:45 PM. The regular attendees told us today that without at least 20 students in each morning class, 24 Hour Fitness intends to cut the Wednesday and Friday classes (Monday is already lost). Though my membership runs out on 03/25/2016 (and I greatly prefer the style of some instructors over others) I am going to attend as many classes as possible before then. They all do a tremendous job, and I'd like to help out the regular riders.

On August 3, 2010, I completed my first solo bicycle century ride in scenic Lancaster County, Pennsylvania (map pictured above). My mission was to ride 100 consecutive miles before relocating to San Francisco, where I was to study Creature Design at AAU. Though I have consistently remained physically active, I have been 100% focused on developing my artistic skills and pursuing a career in California. I am happy to report, that the hard work continues to pay off. At the beginning of 2016, I set out to make an honest return to avid cycling.
The Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition is holding their 16th annual Los Angeles River Ride on Sunday, June 12, 2016. It begins at the Autry Center in Griffith Park, just 2.1 miles from my home. There will be a 100-mile, 70-mile, 50-mile, 36-mile, 25-mile, and a 15-mile ride to choose from. I have decided to train for the 100 mile ride, and have begun designing a 16 week plan. This blog will serve as both a tool to keep me motivated, and as an online journal to share my journey as I experience the landscape of Los Angeles County.
Tonight (Leap Day), I rode an easy 10.25 miles up and down the open portion of the bike path and around Burbank at dusk. The temperature was a perfect 70°F, and the mountains where painted hot pink and orange.
