Bye Bye Plastic Bags movement in Bali. Kids can do big things too! You don't have to wait till you grow up or grow old. The time to do something is NOW. Encourage your kids to stand for the cause they believe in and be the change they want to see. Let their voice be heard.
Melati and Isabel Wijsen are on a mission to stop plastic bags from suffocating their beautiful island home of Bali. Their efforts — including petitions, beach cleanups, even a hunger strike — paid off when they convinced their governor to commit to a plastic bag-free Bali by 2018. "Don't ever let anyone tell you that you're too young or you won't understand," Isabel says to other aspiring activists. "We're not telling you it's going to be easy. We're telling you it's going to be worth it."

That’s right.
In fact, it’s weirder if we are not caring about our only planet home, the Earth.
What goes around, comes around and eventually, on your dining plate.

One of the many shocking facts I learned during #myzerowastejourney is this. .
When I googled “What percent of plastic is recycled?” The result shows: Of the 8.3 billion metric tons that has been produced, 6.3 billion metric tons has become plastic waste. Of that, only nine percent has been recycled. The vast majority—79 percent—is accumulating in landfills or sloughing off in the natural environment as litter. Jul 19, 2017
There’s two types of plastic; Recyclable and Non-Recyclable. Out of those that’s recyclable, only 9% gets recycled. Can you fanthom this?? .
If plastic is a material made to last, why are we using it as one time use packaging and disposables to be thrown away mindlessly on a daily basis, every single minute? Each plastic we use for a minute or so will last on this planet for at least 10 to 1000 years! A plastic beverages bottle you consume in less than 10 minutes will stay on this planet for the next 450 years. But I recycle! You said. I used to recycle a lot too. Thinking that they will be recycled. But the statistics is telling us only 9% made it. The rest are incinerated (if not controlled, released toxic air in the environment), ended up in the landfill or in our environment (land or sea) as litters. .
The results? Plastic is now polluting nature. Harming our eco system and endangering animals on land and sea. Our planet is in dire need of help! There’s clearly a product packaging flaw and we seriously need to rethink this whole system. Before a proven effective solution is found to close the loop, refuse single use plastic packaging and disposables at all cost. .

We dedicate our lives to spread awareness about plastic trash and pollution to the public and to bring about change in mindset and habits for the sake of our planet, our only home. We consumers want to buy goods and products that have positive impact on our lives without harming our planet Earth. Not buy into waste and plastic pollutions. Stop buying into linear economy but invest in circular economy. Close the loop, be wise consumers.
Little Green Beans was started in Jan 2015, triggered by the fact that only bad news are broadcasted. There are certainly good things happening around us and we think they deserved to be known. Little Green Beans was birthed to spread good news and positivities. At the same time, we remained conscious in our everyday living, respect Mother Earth and all living things around us.
We came to a hiatus mid of 2016 due to a major move and a seemingly promising work opportunity only to caught ourselves absorbed in consumerism all over again. In September 2017, we came across this term ‘Zero Waste’ and was very much intrigued. In 2018, we took up the challenge to aim for zero waste everyday to minimize our personal consumption and waste, especially non recyclable single use plastic waste.
Mid of 2018, we started giving talks and sharing about our journey. There’s all the more reasons to bring Little Green Beans back in action to align with our cause and believes. It’s okay to take a break, come back and break a leg!
We want to leave you with this quote by Mahatma Ghandi ~ Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony. We hope you will be aware to align your thoughts, words, and actions to achieve happiness.

8 million tons of plastics are dumped into the ocean each year.
Plastics are not disposables. Use them sparingly and if possible, don’t use them at all. And never ever ever throw them into the sea. They will not magically disappear, but rather be swallowed by big fishes thinking it’s food or be picked up by animals thinking it’s food for their babies.
Let’s protect our sea and the living things in it.

H&M is a fast fashion label, mass producing fashion designs and trends. It’s rather contradicting to see their collaboration with M.I.A. when they are actually one of the culprits who contributed wastage on earth but hey, at least they are trying to redeem themselves by doing something good. I won’t spend anymore money at H&M to support unsustainable fashion, but I will donate unwanted clothes to give them new lease of life and purpose.
Join in a global fashion movement for the planet.

Portraits of the Ocean’s Power by @raycollinsphoto
To see more of Ray’s dramatic seascapes, follow @raycollinsphoto on Instagram.
Ray Collins (@raycollinsphoto) captures portraits, but not the kind you are used to. A lifelong beachgoer from New South Wales, Ray was unable to walk or surf for six months following a knee injury. During his rehabilitation, he picked up a camera and discovered endless inspiration in the power of ocean waves. “Every kind of emotion you can have as a human being can be tied to the ocean and the moods of the ocean,” he explains.
Ray can spend months studying storm trajectories in pursuit of the most dramatic seascapes, but he has learned you can’t predict what will happen: “It’s rogue and there’s rocks and there’s riptides and currents. The physical act of pushing the button to capture the photo is the end of a chain of events.” One of Ray’s strongest endorsements of the ocean’s strength can only be experienced firsthand: “The sound is something that you can’t capture. It goes reverb through your whole body.”

Let's learn from Bhutan.
Together, we can adopt new habits and lead cleaner and greener lives while continue to live in harmony with Mother Nature. Bhutan can do it, so can we!
Support Earth For Life - a global fund to kickstart Bhutan For Life throughout the world, to carry the dream (to replicate the Bhutan For Life idea to conserve protected areas for all times to help win the world's fight for climax change and sustainability) beyond the borders to other countries and all those who care about our planet's future.
After all, we are in this planet together. We've done enough damage here already.
