i forgot!
alessia russo x reader

when alessia meets the one just for her she makes sure she the right one before showing her off. even if there was really no doubt. well. besides your college. but you got her to forget about it for a while.
âare you a model?â you asked the blonde girl that you had been shameless watching move throughout the paris night club you were currently in. people were swarming the bars, leading to arms laying across a sticky counter with debit cards in hand and very close proximities.
a surpsied expression to your bold question came from the girl, her moving her ear away from your lips with a tint to her cheeks that wasnât there before. you could swear.
âa footballer actually. are you?â
alessia was automatically attracted to you. her eyes genuinely scanned your body painfully slow as her eyes filled with a obsession
âbasketballer actually. arenât you competing?â alessia peaked up at the more familiar accent, she knew she had heard it before. leaning forward towards the american stranger, enjoying her memories of the united stated
âmy nation didnât qualify. but innit that funny, i went to school in america?â
âwhat a shame. iâd love to watch you play. shame it wasnât at duke either, i would have seen you before that. i know that for sure.â
âand you lost me there. you were doing well tooâ you watched as disinterest comes across her face at the mention of your alma mater. not like it mattered to you, the footballer in front of you was all your mind was interested by.
âi never said i hated uncâ you had to yell for her to hear, pulling her closer to you by her waist as another body tried to squeeze behind her.
âthatâs because itâs the best in the countryâ
âin my country?â
âyour country.â her smile came back, bringing a burn deeper in your stomach. the bartender swiftly dropped off both her drinks and yours. âvos cartes.â you donât know what came over you; because it definitely wasnât logic when your hand came on-top of alessiaâs as she tried to start a tab. it was early in the night and you were still on a contact in the lowest paid league in america; but you had no problem treating the girl you were admiring for the night.
never had you thanked you agent more for sponsorships.
âmets toutes ses boissons avec les miennes ce soir. tout ce qu'elle obtient, je l'aiâ the bartender nodded to your fluent french and turned away without hesitation; only taking your card.
âput all her drinks in with mine tonight. whatever she gets, i gotâ
âwhat did you just do? also i thought you were from america? you sound great. â
âi gotta make my money somewhere, you went to america for experience no? just stay around for a while so i have something to look forward, remember to come say bye too.â
the sharpness to you, your undeniable looks, the free drinks.. how could she say no?
âi just might have to, and who do i come looking for?â
âyouâll find out if you come back. whatâs youâre name?â
alessiaâs eyes rolled at your secrecy, but bit her lip in enjoyment. she knew sheâd be coming back, how couldnât she. just look at you.
âalessia.â

âless these were out front?â leah announced as she entered alessia flat; confusion being noticed on the kent natives face until her eyes caught onto the pink peonies that we beautifully arranged for her.
leah carried them in carefully; not glancing to hard at them before handing them off. âtheyre beautifulâ
she would have kept an eye out front for them if she knew they were coming, but she never knew when youâd send them.
her cheeks when flushed and the pink in those flowers were so similar that you had secretly dedicated those flowers to her.
âoh my god, i didnât hear a ring. thank you le.â
âwho gave you those?â a question that gone unanswered.
alessia hadnât spoken a word about you to her teammate. you were too good to be true in her mind; she didnât want to ruin that before anything could actually happen.
quickly plucking the card off the floral pick and walked causally into the kitchen. âoh my those are beautiful less, who sent them?â
âsomeone from the states.â she slipped the card away into her back pocket before the overbearingness of the arsenal womenâs team started.
âohhhhâ
âa college fling?â
âhow many times have theyâve sent them?â
less pressed her lips together to hide the ever small smile from crossing her face. âonce or twice.â
âoh my god!â
âa man sent those??â
âay dios mĂo..â
the room continued with the chatter of who they may believe it to be. but surprisingly the room had two silent watchers. ones that alessia noticed instantly.
alessia felt as lotte watched her throw away the same peonies, now a week old. she felt emily watching as she cleaned the vase and put it in a cabinet. a cabinet with definitely more than one or two similar vases. emily would count on at least 7 or 8.
but of course they already knew that the american would have to be someone new to alessia.
they were alessiaâs bestfriends at her time at unc; and they knew she spent her time there as a stepping stone to make it where she is now. meaning she was focused, studious, and committed to soccer while there. she wasnât at unc to date, she was there to become better.
but alessia wasnât stupid. her eyes meet with lotteâs and emilyâs, giving them the look to please keep quiet for now. and thatâs what they did. because they didnât care that much.
well they did. but they knew if they pushed theyâd never know. and trust. they wanted to know so badly that they were willing to wait.
alessia didnât know why people cared so much if it didnât involve them; but what she did was learn was that people will always want to know too much.
the spotlight makes you learn that damn last.
and as the flowers became a second thought to the arrival to the skipper, that gave alessia an escape from the attention to do something she couldnât wait to do.
excusing herself to the bathroom from her guests once the timing felt right. her heart beating as she already pulled out her phone from her back pocket to text you a âthank youâ for the flowers as she walked through her flat.
pressing her back against her own bathroom door as she locked it. pulling out the card that was placed in the flowers from her back pocket so fast it may have ripped a corner. rubbing her thumb over the similar words as those that have brought her ease for the past 7 weeks.
i bought these flowers the same night i bought your ticket. youâll be here in a week and these should last you til then. ill spend my days waiting for you until then. xo

you had finally made your way back with lunch for the two of you and less couldnât hold back her excitement. she had jumped into your arms the second you had entered the apartment, giving you no time but to catch her. and thatâs what you did. âfinallyâ
holding her up against you with one arm as you held onto the food bag in your other, you walked the both of you into your apartment. letting the front door close and automatically lock as you walked you both into your kitchen. placing her and the food down on the counter before quickly placing a kiss to the british girls lips.
âhi hunâ you whispered against them as she snuck her hand up your shirt, leaving a comforting and warm hand on your side. in a way to remind you she was real. a reminder you were grateful for as you looked at her longer. âhi babyâ
âi got us our last american meal for a bitâ
âenjoy your messy burger because you obviously canât live without one for two weeks.â
âthatâs why i got it obviously..â you rolled your eyes back at her, âyou know you talk a lot of shit for someone who likes being in americaâ
âthatâs because youâre here.â alessia had sent butterflies to your stomach ever since the moment you had met her at club. and over the months you had gotten to learn her; you had learn that her comments like those. meant something. not only to you; but her too.
âis that why you had me push back your return flight?â
âare we not going to mention how you bought yourself a ticket to come back with meâ a teasing smile on her lips.
âno weâre notâ
your phone rang on the counter taking you both out of your moment together; her eyes moving subconsciously to see who it was. and when she read another womanâs name she automatically sat up straight and let her hand quickly fall off of your waist.
alessia couldnât help herself. as much as sheâd love to say she hadnât been looking for a red flag in you. she knew she had to be right about you being too good to be true in her mind.
âhey whatâs up?..â
and honestly; for a good second. she couldnât believe her eyes when you picked up your phone so nonchalantly infront of her, answering the call from the girl with not a second thought to you.
â..damn. no i canât watch tuck this weekend; im going out of town with less..â
but of course she was being dramatic.
of course you had been telling everyone about alessia.
you had been treating her like your girlfriend since the moment she had arrived and alessia loved it. but never admitted it.
a small smile cracking out from your lips and a sly wink was all alessia needed for her cheeks to become that signature pink and her forehead to come planting on the center of your chest.
and as you ended the call and pulled her head away from your chest. there was that light smile still on your lips âjealous over a dogâ
all alessia wants to do is kiss that smile off your face too. âit was the girl; and so what about it?â
âyouâre all i want lessâ

âno way. youâre not dating her less.â emily stood firm in alessia apartment. another wide smile coming across your face as you knew why. a laugh coming out after alessia looked at you crazy.
âwhat?â you stood in the center on alessia living room in a pair of her arsenal shorts and an college college hoodie.
âemily iâve told herâ you had met emily before due to emilyâs time in the nwsl and youâre continuing friendship with her u-19 national teammate tess boade.
âtold me what?â
âsheâs a blue devil?â
âwhat?â lotte quickly pipped in as if you had killed someone.
âshe went to duke? are you kidding less? how could you fall for the rival.â
âoh my god. i forgot.â
âare you actually doing this right now? baby i told you the night we met?â
âi forgot!â alessia exclaimed.
âwhat do you mean?! how could you forget?â
âshe was buying our drinks and she was looking really nice, i guess it just flew right over my head that night!â
âgod less youâre kidding.â
she wasnât. and maybe the enemy wasnât so bad after all.

AHHHHHHHHHHH
iâve been waiting for this shit! TURN IT UP
what led to getting ice cream â j. fleming
summary: what happens when your youth teammate had invited you to a party?
a year has passed since the first encounter with the freckled canadian, the one you found a bit intriguing. maybe it was her shyness, how reserved the midfielder was - or how she was the complete opposite of you. you were everything she wasnât, spontaneous, easy-going, affectionate while jessie was media-shy, restrained and calm.
you knew sooner or later, youâd cross paths with her - you just didnât expect it to be at a collegiate party. mallory pugh, a national teammate you had gotten along with during camps, especially the youth levels, had invited you to a frat party. tierna, despite her being a year older she decided to accompany you.Â
tierna had checked her phone, wondering if it was the correct address which it was - she gestured for you to go first and you did. the moment you opened the door to the frat house, all you smelled was booze, sex and drugs.
âin a few hours, meet me back here and try not to drink from any red cups, or cups that strangers give you. i donât think the team will be happy when they find out.â tierna stated, as you gave her a curt nod. you didnât even like the idea of drinking or using.
as she disappeared from your view, you made your way through the crowd. you were clad in a stanford hoodie, a casual gray jogger, and a pair of typical running shoes. the backyard was vacant, you hummed before taking a spot near the entrance.Â
playing with the pocket watch your mother had given you - it claimed to be your fatherâs - âthe one you never metâ. there was this part of you that hated him.
but looking away from your watch, your eyes followed the sound of noise - the slide door to the backyard had opened. an amusing look was on your face when you realized who it was.
âfleming, what a surprise to see you here.â your voice rang out, catching her by surprise, in doing so the freckled girl had misplaced her step, causing her to fall.
a small oof was heard, as you frantically shot up, holding your hand out for her to grab. the midfielder did, as you pulled her up.
âi should be saying that to you, l/n. you took a 5 hour drive, just for what, a frat party?â flemingâs voice was soft as you chuckled at her words.
âmallory had invited me, but tierna sheâs - somewhere in the house.â you softly replied, as jessie hummed at your words.
âpugh? sheâs been your teammate since the youth levels, right?â jessie had asked, as you nodded. the colorado player was someone youâve gotten along with - it was like a low maintenance friendship, you didnât have to talk all the time.
after that question, the air was filled with silence - the two of you had been enjoying each otherâs presence.
âsay, this party might not be your cup of tea - but would you perhaps want to ditch, and get ice cream?â you had asked, humbly waiting for the canadianâs response to which she nodded to. you had gotten up first, holding out your hand waiting for the canadian to grab - in which she did. you had led her through the crowd, the intertwined hands - the feeling that you never wanted to let go.
when the two of you had arrived outside, you turned around to check if she was alright, to which she was - however, her eyes were set on the interlocked fingers. shying away, you abruptly let go of her hand.
âsince youâve been studying here, baby canada lead the way.â a small hum was heard, catching your attention.
âbaby canada?â the canadian had asked, as you paused in your tracks - did she not know of the nickname the fans had given her?
âwell, since you made your debut for the senior team quite young, you had achieved the nickname baby canada.â the walk to the ice cream parlor was filled with random stories you had talked about - solely football related.
âyou know, youâre basically eating toothpaste, right?â you looked at her bewildered, at the fact she called mint chocolate chip ice cream - toothpaste.
âit is not.â
âit is.â
âis notâ
âwhatever floats your boat, l/n.â she softly chuckled, and you swore - it made your heart skip a beat. the walk back to the house was filled with silence, the two of you were simply enjoying each otherâs presence.Â
you felt your phone vibrating in your pocket, as you quickly fished it out. it was a call from tierna, you looked to jessie as she nodded, giving her an apologetic smile - you swiped the green button.
âwhere are you?â
âiâm out with a friend, we had just gotten ice cream.â
âwell, i believe we have to go now, y/n. the drive back to uni will take long.â
âalright, iâll meet you in front of the house in a few minutesâ
âdonât take too long, or else the others will have my head.â tierna teased, as you chuckled at her words. the call had ended, as you turned to jessie, her eyes were set on the moon - it was pretty.
âitâs pretty, isnât it?â you had asked her, you werenât looking at the moon - instead you were watching her, admire the moon.
âthatâs true.â

oh iâm EXCITED.
first encounter â j. fleming
summary: it was the first time you've encountered the freckled midfielder.
the first time you had met the shy midfielder was somewhere in the middle of 2015, just after the world cup. it was a friendly between the two national teams, canada vs united states - a match that was always worth watching due to its renowned rivalry.
you were sitting at the playerâs bench, an older playerâs padded jacket covering you as you currently wore yours, claiming that you had to be warm - considering the night weather. despite being part of this friendly line-up, jill, the teamâs head coach decided to put you on the bench due to your hamstring injury that youâd gotten during the final.
âyou look a bit comfortable there, peanut.â christen had commented, as she gave you a small wink at the nickname the team had given you. being the youngest player, meant you werenât allowed to be by yourself, there always had to be an older player with you.
âif it wasnât for this extra padded jacket, i wouldnât be.â a soft chuckle escaped pressâs lips, as she ruffled your hair before joining the others.
simply preoccupied playing super smash bros with a nintendo 3ds, you failed to notice the rolling ball. when the ball had accidentally nudged your feet, your eyes broke away from the game to see a freckled girl, clad in a canadian jersey.
âsorry about that.â was literally the first words she said, as you gave her a soft nod. you placed the game beside you, as she mumbled over her words - making you chuckle, bringing her words to a pause.
âtake a deep breath, fleming.â you said, in an instant her cheeks were rosy and everyone could see her feelings as if she wrote them in little notes and handed them out. a knowing look came from the team, as you hummed ignoring their teasing.
âhave you committed to a university yet?â her random question caught your attention, as you nodded.
âyeah, itâsââ you didnât get to finish your sentence, as her teamâs captain sinclair had called her, bringing your attention to the canadian side, as they were busy warming up for the game, it seemed this conversation had gotten the attention of both side, some were minding their own business, while some were intrigued.
âiâm afraid i have to go.â the canadian said, as you nodded. she bid a soft goodbye, before joining the rest of her team. throughout the match, your eyes followed along - analyzing both teams, however you werenât able to stay long.
jill had assigned one of the staff members to bring you back to the hotel, as you disappeared into the tunnel - you failed to notice the gaze of a certain canadian.
a/n: so, this post may be short, but it is the brief interaction between the two youngsters of their respective teams. this is a new series i've been working on.

camera shy
alessia russo x reader

in which alessia invited you to do an episode on her podcast, only for it to become a fan favorite for a very specific reason.
âand who do we have joining us today el?â
âwhy are you asking me? youâre the one who set up this episodeâ ella sat up closer to her mic, a small giggle coming from your lips as you saw how irritated ella was. she had begged you countless amounts of times to come on her and alessia show. only for you now to show.
you had only been willing to give into the podcast request after a certain someone had called you and nearly begged at your hand and foot for you to come and join for an episode.
donât get you wrong. you loved ella, you wouldnât have even met alessia if it wasnât for ella. but you have been notoriously camera shy for your whole life. english camp or post interviews, you were a hassle to find and even worse to talk to.
you werenât secretive to say. just cautious of what you allowed not only your friends and family to know; but also the fans.
though, ever since meeting alessia that secrecy had started to slip.
it started early, after sitting on the bench for england for nearing two years. you had gotten your first start on the womenâs national team in injury time around 2 years ago. leading you to getting to know a few of the girls even better after the match, tooney being one.
you have spent much of your time playing and starting for the u21 team but once you have passed that age, you hadnât realized how hard it would be to break into not only the bench but the starting midfield positions on the first team. tooney never really had a reason to talk to you, but she had made an effort that night.
started with congratulating you after the match at the nightclub that esme forced you into to going. then ella found you at breakfast a few times, bringing her big personality and her loud tyldesley accent to your table. you had thought it was slightly weird. knowing you were a rotational picked player for camp, one who hadnât seen game time since that injury time start. so her trying to make friends with you made you almost suspicious.
you had fallen okay with not always being picked; many people told you that playing for your nation meant more than for a club. and to some extent you would absolutely agree.
but at the time you were being known for bringing liverpool to the top of the championship table. and everyone was talking about you in the aspect for what you were doing for your club. you were happy with that, national team starts would come later.
and later did come. slightly earlier than expected; but once it did, you not only found your team back in the super league but your name on your nations call up list. life had started getting better. and maybe a certain blonde by your side helped.
alessia only started coming around once she realized her best friend was running off every once in a while at national camp, getting frustrated when ella would come back an hour later only to say she was with you.
alessia had admitted she was jealous of you at some point. feeling as if you were almost taking her bestfriend away from her. but she quickly learned that she was able to share ella with you. and even became more jealous of ella at one point for getting to know you better than she did.
it was also hard for many people to overlook the manchester/liverpool rivalry but the three of you seemed to manage it perfectly. you and alessia more than anyone.
you were playing in the championship league anyways so why would you have cared? you found alessia not only attractive but one of the most interesting and intelligent people you have ever met.
the way her brain picked at things was one of the biggest attractions you had towards the stargirl. mind you, you hadnât vocalized your attraction to the blonde for almost a year due to your fear of rejection and your lack of knowledge of the girlâs sexuality. you had known that ella was straight and with her boyfriend; leading you to believe alessia only could be the same.
you now know that was a terrible assumption but who were you know? and once alessiaâs made her move to arsenal. one on one time with alessia just happened to come along with that. which made your relationship come on sooner than later. only due to the blonde making a move. stating that it was insufferable waiting for you to do it.
âso today weâve graciously joined by our friend and lionesses teammate y/n l/n!â ella and alessia cheered as if you werenât already in the yellow room sat on the grey couch next to alessia, forcing ella to sit in what was normally vickâs chair.
âgood morning.â
âyou know if youâre going to be on a podcast you have to be interested y/n?â
âwhat else was i supposed to say??â alessiaâs hand came to rest on top of yours. a small gesture of gratitude for you being there that made everything easy again. âanywho! we are graciously joined by our nations left back and my arch nemesis.â
âisnât that niamh?â
âyou too! god youâre making this difficult.â
âhun go easy on herâ a sigh coming from your mouth as the smile that once crack your face at the teasing had to go away. âfine, itâs nice to see you ella. for the third time this weekâ
chuckles coming from alessia as she tried to hide how funny she found you. âthis was a terrible idea.â
âwe need to get on, thereâs no way theyâll air this.â
âalright. so from helping your team be promoted from the championships to the wsl, now to changing your position from midfield to the outside backs for the england national team. what do you think was the biggest challenge youâve overcame this year?â ella quickly changed the subject, wanting as much airtime as she could possibly get.
but fuck ella. she just loved to jump straight into things. youâre cheeks flushed a bright red as you couldnât help but be flustered. being put on the spot was never your thing. âoh.â
ânow youâve scared her!â alessia shifted closer to you and you held onto her hand tighter.
âi didnât mean to?â
âno no. um. iâd have to say definitely coming into this season newly promoted. i had a lot of stress and expectations riding on me. i know we had an amazing season, finishing fourth. just behind you..â you poked at alessia. an eyeroll and a scoff from ella made you smile at the pair.
âbut itâs hard coming from the championship to now the wsl. the players are more competitive, the games are faster and mean more. helped me even get to playing consistently for the national team.â
both of the girls beamed their bright smiles at you; ella and alessia have always been your biggest fans it seemed. they credited most of the work that liverpool did to make it out of the championships and now within the top 5 of the wsl to you.
it faltered you; making your cheeks burn and you look down everytime. the compliments were sweet. you knew you had done a lot for liverpool but it never got old. and you did do it by yourself. âthatâs all the girls. weâve worked hard and had goals on staying in the league.â
âhow is the league treating you?â ella asked, getting a sign from one of the people behind the camera to keep it going. âitâs definitely a more aggressive game. ask alessiaâ
âi didnât mean to?!â
âtaking out your girlfriends ankles isnât normal hun.â a smile breaking across your lips as you teased your girlfriend. you had always loved the way her ears flushed a little red when she get embarrassed.
âi didnât mean it y/nâ she groaned out. trying her puppy dog eyes on you.
you wouldnât fall victim again, grabbing her chin and moving her face from looking at you. âclipped my ankle in midfield even, you knew you wouldnât win the ball.â
âyouâre almost 6â. nobody believes that i tried to clip you baby.â
âalessia told me she planned it out.â
âella!â

âbaby?â alessia asked, her head resting in your chest as she looked up at you.
a small smile breaking across your face at her pet name, it didnât matter what followed it, you loved being called it by her. âyes my love?â
âthank you for doing my show today, i know you donât like being on camera but you coming out today and being there for ella and i meant the world to me.â
your hand stopped as you rubbed her back, the sweet words coming from your girl made your heart almost stop. you would have done anything for alessia. you still will.
âiâd have a camera following me everyday; everywhere if it meant i could spend those days with you.â
alessia pulled herself up off of your torso , hovering over your body as she smiled down you.
pushing your body up on your elbows; alessia took your lips into hers. feeling alessia on your lips would never get old. and never will. you promised that to her and yourself. youâd never get tired of alessia.
your hands trailed up her shirt, hands spreading across her sides as you felt goosebumps grow under your hands. she always reacted that way. and youâll never take it for granted.
she pulled back only a little, a massive grin plastered against her lips. ones that were soon to pressed back against yours.
âi did mean to clip your ankles that game.â

god i love emily fox >> great writing
Emily Fox x Reader based on "I Love You, I'm Sorry" by Gracie Abrams
I LOVE YOU, IâM SORRY â emily fox
this is probably a bit longer than all the other blurbs iâve done⌠but i got a little carried away writing it,, anyways enjoy xox

masterlist
you and emily fox had a complicated relationship as well as history. it wasn't the usual hatred towards each other it was that you were just civil and that was part of the problem.
you'd both met way back in college, you both playing for UNC alongside some of your current teammates at the moment, alessia and lotte. you joining arsenal just a year after lotte wanting to make the big move back across the pond in hope it would help build your footballing career.
and much to your surprise it did, while you spent most of the first season on the bench you still managed to come on and most of the time make a difference in the game weather that being to score or assisting the goal.
before cementing yourself in the first team just the next season and finding yourself starting majority of the games and then going on to help arsenal lift the league title in the 18/19 season.
but enough of that and back to the complicated history of you and emily fox. you and her were the best of friends from the moment you met, you were glued to hip. you loving to make fun of her funny american accent while she would make fun of how bad your american accent was no matter how hard you tried, it sounded nothing like hers.
over the four years that you were at UNC you grew closer and closer together, to the point you weren't really sure if you were just friends anymore. on some nights when the team would be out celebrating and you both may not be thinking straight due to the alcohol that would be flowing through your veins.
and more times than you would like to admit out loud you would find yourself pinned to the a stall in the toilets while you were out, small whines strung from you as begged for her to carry on kissing you. her lips, her touch, her everything were your drug.
and while the casual hookup happened every other month, it never went anything further than that. you were simply just friends with benefits and while you wished you were more you just couldnât bring yourself to commit in fear of ruining a friendship.
so when the offer to move across the pond, you grasped it with two hands. it breaking your heart that you were leaving but also emilyâs but you made a promise to the girl that you would stay in contact and you would try and make the journey to see her whenever you had time.
however, the long distance between the two of you proving difficult for the two of you to stay close, text messages going from every hour to every other day as well as calls going from every morning to every week until the contact stopped and it was radio silence from each other.
so when the news hit arsenal that a new girl was coming from america the last person you expected was for it to be her.
watching as she walked through the club the same bubbly girl that you knew and left in america.
she quickly fitted in, reconnecting with the UNC duo alessia and lotte and over the weeks the american was back in your life all those feelings you had spent years trying to forgot came rushing back quicker than you could have said 1,2,3.
so on a night after a big win in the league you were sat in the booth of a bar by yourself as you watched on with a slight twang of envy as emily effortlessly danced and laughed with the arsenal girls.
you hadnât had a chance to talk properly with emily, only the odd little small talk, âhow your dayâ âhow you finding londonâ or âyou okayâ was all that had been spoken to by the two of you. but you didnât want to embarrass yourself by bringing up the past in case she was over you, and she didnât want to bring up old memories cause what if it was just a college hookup to her.
you told yourself you would rather be hurt not knowing then hurt yourself by knowing the truth.
âwhy donât you just talk to her?â beth said as you jumped a little not knowing how long she had been there or how long she had been watching you watch emilyâs each movement.
âwho?â you tried to play the dumb act but you knew by the look on bethâs face that she knew, you knew exactly who she was talking about.
ây/n donât play stupid with me, just talk to emily. i can see the way you close yourself off from her every time she gets too close. you never know she may want to talk to you too about the past.â beth smiled softly nudging you slightly towards the end, you knew that sheâd spoke the emily about you, more than likely meddling. beth had been one of the only people you had told about your past with the american.
âi canât beth, it is what it is. itâs in the past now. mâtrying to move onâ you sighed, swirling your empty glass in your hand, hearing a tut from the blonde beside you.
âyou can, y/n. and whatâs the saying itâs better to try and fail then to never try at all!â beth tried as you gave her a pointed look, your eyebrow raised slightly at the sudden inspirational words.
âwho would have thought drinking made you all inspirational quotes!â you laughed lightly as the blonde rolled her eyes pushing you out of the booth. âyeah, yeah, go and get your girl!â beth mocked your tone as she took another sip of her drink.
walking over to the american your nerves were all over, as you tried to navigate the hot and sweaty bar people being everywhere you turned it was like you were in a can of sardines.
finally reaching the girl, you tapped her on the shoulder probably not the best move to pull in a bar full of strangers but before you had time to think your body had already moved and done it for you.
startling the american as she turned around her features softening as she realised who it was, watching as alessia, kyra and laia were now stood behind emily eyes glued to the interaction between the two of you.
âhiâ
âhey, you okay?â emily looked worried, this was one of the first times youâd been the one to start a conversation since sheâd joined arsenal just a little over a month ago.
âyeah, um can we talk-â you stuttered out looking down at your hands as you fidgeted with the rings on your hands. âof course, whatâs up?â emily said quickly, her worried look still not moved but not clicking on at the fact you didnât want to talk in front of prying eyes.
âum follow meâ you said grabbing the girls hand and dragging her through the crowd and out the door of the bar, sitting on one of the six steps out the front, emily sitting down next to you as the cold london air hit you both.
âso.. what did-â emily began after minutes of silence between you both.
âyeah right um just wanted to make amends see where we standâ you pointed between the two of you with a slight laugh, a habit you tended to do when you were sad, something emily picked up immediately.
âohâ was all emily could find the words to say. you were glad it was dark outside in the streets of london as it was able to hide your red cheeks of embarrassment you knew you shouldnât have had this chat.
you began to back peddle but emily cut you off, âno we need to have this chat but it hurt when you left, i know you had to but you promised to stay in contact and you didnât. there were so many moments in the past years that iâve needed you and you havenât been there.â emily smiled sadly as you bit your lip, youâd been nothing but a dick to her.
âiâm sorryâ was all you could say and something you probably should have said to the american a long time ago.
âbut i miss you y/n i really do, i miss how we used to be. i know we were never official a thing but i loved you, i really didâ emily confessed as you nodded along, the word loved, past tense did that mean she didnât still love you.
âas sick as it sounds i loved you firstâ you smiled slightly remember the moment you realised you loved the american. from the moment you met her you knew she was the prettiest girl youâd ever seen.
the two of you sat in silence just taking in each other, as emily carefully moved closer to you as she placed her hand on your cheek, her thumb moving slightly as you sighed. you hands resting on her torso, as you gripped her t-shirt she was wearing.
ây/nâ emily breathed out as her hand rested on you cheek, your lips only a mere inch away from touching. you could feel her breath on yours.
âi love you, iâm sorry.â you whispered against her as you moved closer attaching your lips.

sheâs so american
emily fox x reader

in which you meet emily through mutual college friends in a completely different country than home. only to quickly find an undeniable connection that stops all those calls back home.
pt.2?
itâs hard to actually pinpoint the start and end of your move âacross the pondâ; but you knew that it truthfully the best decision you could make for yourself. you had gotten a âonce in a lifetimeâ opportunity; working at a hospital in your dream country.
it wasnât for the cute accents or the nasty beans as breakfast ; but for the weather. you absolutely loved the rain. your day was automatically made when youâd wake up and you could smell the rain holding in the air.
you knew it was weird, but you had always loved the rain. you never knew why; it being commonly know that others get more bleak or even sad when it rained. it made you the happiest.
you had been told to move to seattle or just somewhere with more rainfall than north carolina by many friends and family. but your heart had always been set on london.
london has be absolutely everything you had ever imagined; you loved the city, your job, your apartment, and you really enjoyed reconnecting with your old college friends. ones you never thought you would.
lotte and you met in your first year gen-ed history class. being sat next to each other in one of the largest classes there was on the campus. you actually started your friendship over a single conversation; one about your hope to move to england the second she spoke. her accent taking all of your attention away from the professor just to ask her a handful of questions.
lotte was easily the nicest person you had ever met; alessia was amazing too. meeting the blonde just days after being friends with lotte; the two britâs being roommates made it inevitable.
lotte and you were great friends, causing you and alessia to become the same. for the first three years at unc there was never a week that went by without you hanging out with them. you of course had other friends as so did they, but lotte and you had seemingly always wanted to be with each other first before the others.
so thatâs why it was hard once she had told you she was going back to england, wanting to sign with a team there and make the move she had been wanting to do for years. it hurt. but you felt as if youâd be okay, you at least had alessia.
you and alessia had grown thick as thieves as you became juniors. the mean girl mask she wore slipping around only her teammates and you.
but then alessia had told you the same thing. your two britâs were leaving just how you met them. together.
no matter how you felt you never let yourself become selfish. you never once asked them to stay. and you never once questioned them on why a year sooner; you knew covid was a part of it but it had gotten better. and they seemed to love it here. but they left, and you only had messages and phone calls.
and as the years passed, and as you all entered your mid 20âs. things picked up for all of you. they became members of the lionesses, and you made your way through residency. becoming a nurse and working long days makes friendships hard, much less long distance ones. but you all never let it go too far. a message on a post or a quick text every once in a while meant much to both ends of the friendship.
so. the second you posted to your instagram story yourself at a local cafe in downtown london. it wasnât just lotte who called you. less did too.
the group of the three of you met back up sooner than expected; it still being a little while as you combatted international games, club games, and 8 to 8âs. but once you did. it because a regular thing, something the three of you did often; even planned out. which is what led to the three of you wine drunk in alessia high rise apartment, until it was two.. or three in the morning. thank god for off days.
the night only halted by a knock on the apartments front door. your stomach dropping at the sight of the girl who alessia brought in with her.
it was absolutely a unc reunion.
the woman who came with another blonde quickly made her way into the apartment, giving lotte a hug before making her way to introduce herself.
âoh itâs so nice to meet you, iâm em-â
âemily fox. she knows; sheâs from uncâ lotte cut the brunette off, her hand coming and resting on your knee. only for you to pinch your friend on the wrist; her giving you a dirty glare but a smile. âreally? are you american?â
âyeah i a-â
âyes she is!â lotte spoke over you again. your cheeks turning a light red as you become shy, not being used to being infront of emily. or being with an intoxicated lotte.
of course you knew who emily was, you had seen her before. you had asked about her before. she was one of the most gorgeous women youâve ever laid your eyes on and it was not even close. youâve had a far away crush on the fellow american since college, and sheâs only gotten more attractive with age.
âugh not another one of those accents.â the blonde by the door joked. alessia hitting the slightly shorter girl as you laughed lightly at the girl, emily taking the seat infront of you, you sitting in the corner of the L shaped couch with your legs straight over lotteâs lap. âyou looked very familiar.â
âduh. unc. you probably saw her around with us.â alessia came and sat next to her, the other blonde following. only stopping in the kitchen for two more glasses before making her way to the couch. it seemed as they were staying. but with the expensive bottles of wine tucked under the girlâs arm, you were completely okay with that. âlong time friends?â emily asked.
âyeah iâd say soâ you replied.
âsee she does have one of those accentsâ alessia joked, making the new blonde laugh as lotte tried to stifles hers.
âyouâre the ones with the funny accents?â you quickly replied.
âsays yall?â emily followed.
you both smiled over at each other and it seemed to be the start of something. as the night grew on , a few more of alessiaâs and lotteâs friends showed up. you had learned that all the people coming over were the girlâs teammates, relocating to alessiaâs after a night out, you didnât complain. you had also learned the other blonde who came in with emily was named leah, the co captain of their soccer team? or football team. itâs the same thing.
as the night turned into the early morning, emily and you had seemingly fallen into this world of your own. both chatting about everything under the sun. starting with college, your careers, both of your moves to a new country, your past times, fashion. you name it? the pair of you probably touched on it, and there was no interrupting the two of you.
you were obviously nice and introduced yourself to the people who showed up later, it being kyra, caitlin, and katie. who did all show up all the same time, only an hour later but no matter what; you came back to emily. falling back into the ongoing conversation about everything and anything under the sun. the only time you stumbled over your words or became nervous was when she asked you about your dating history.
âso are with a guy? or girl? or whoever?..â she stuttered out, it being a question she only brought up once the rest of the girls made it into the kitchen.
â..iâm sorry i donât know what youâre into.â
her cheeks were slightly red, her hand now lightly holding your legs onto her lap. you had placed them over hers once lotte got up, she never questioned it.
but she had her wrist resting on them before, now? her right hand was holding onto one of your calfâs as she looked away slightly. pretending to be interested in the noise coming from the kitchen as her cheeks had a light pink tint to them. âno im single, and gay..â
emily quickly turned back to look at you, a small smile coming across her face. âoh okay! well are you busy this weekend?â
âwhy fox?â
âwe have a match this weekend!â lotte came back into there living room, a smile on her face as she falls onto the couch. the wine was speaking, not lotte.
emilyâs blush deepened as the rest of the girls followed and made room for themselves too, causing emily to shift closer to you.
âwhat day?â you questioned, your arm coming to lay on the back of the couch as your touch neared close to emily. you could reach other and touch her shoulder but you didnât. keeping your hand firmly on the top of the couch; seeing as her eyes drifted off to look at it. âsunday, and we both know youâre off. â alessia butted in.
âwell i just might have to go, how much are tickets?â
âleah!â
âleah!â
âlee!â
âwhat?!â leah came running out of the restroom at the call of the unc girls.
âget your bag!â
âwhy?â she was already walking to get it when lotte asked, but it still caused you to crack a smile
âyou have a spare ticket for this weekend!â alessia spoke now, your eyes moving between your two friends. it had been something theyâve always done but itâll never not impress you.
âshe always has a spare ticketâ emily whispered over to you, the feeling of her warm breathe lit a small fire in your stomach. leah brought over a ticket; red and white being the color of it as you quickly set it under your phone on the coffee table. âyou coming to watch a match now?â
âiâve watched some soccer games before, i mean i had to being friends with these two-â
â-ughhhâ lotte cut you off.
âitâs football!â leah reminded you like a strict mother. hearing emily giggle to herself as you tried to hide your face in your hands.
ây/n weâve been over this. football. youâre in england now.â your cheeks flushed red at the reaction of the girls.
âmate thinks weâre soccer players?â katie mocked an american accent as the rest of girls giggled.
âwell i amâ emily smiled down at you, causing you to smile up at the brunette. just admiring how beautiful she really was.

âone hell of a soccer player aye?â lotte asked you, your cheeks now being naturally red from a light burn. an easy cover up to the blush that was rushing to your well structured face.
you had made your way back to lottes flat after a weekend match, it had been the 4th match youâve made it to since being in london. you had an undeniable attraction towards a certain american arsenal fullback. after the first match, you had become infatuated with emily. she was show-stopping on the pitch; taking not only the WSL by storm but also your heart.
she was easily the most attractive player; maybe even person. in your mind. especially while playing, which led to making post games even harder. you had really found yourself desiring attention for the virginian, finding a feeling only as comfortable as going home within her. and you desired it all the time. but it was so hard to be around her when she looked so good.
you actually had fought with a coworker about getting match day covered just so you could make it to a match, to watch emily play. and your friends too of course..
âsheâs an amazing player.â
âeveryone on the team is, but youâre only staring at her.â lotte teased, lightly rocking you with an elbow to your arm.
âlotte..â
âitâs fine to fancy her, you should do something about it. i think she thinks the same.â
emily was standing in the kitchen of lotteâs flat, talking with alessia and katie as tao was grabbing a drink. you had learned to love lotteâs boyfriend, he loved to cook for the girls who came around and he was a refreshing treat of normal. it was hard to come by when it came to being around all these celebrities.
you knew tao was famous in his own right, a grand tour winner as the youngest to ever do it made it impossible not to be known. but he lived a calmer life than the girls. he hung out with more friends than co workers and made it a mission to make you not feel left out while being surrounded by the arsenal women. when they talked about football, you both talked about your careers, your friends, your families. something that emily happened to be good at too.
but as always. the conversation of emily happened to show up, not to his or your own fault. but lotteâs.
tao never told lotte about your crush on the fellow american, but thatâs because he never had to. the hopeless looks and the excuses to never be left alone with emily made it noticeable to the dutchie.
but there was one thing that none of them seemed to catch on too.
it was the fact that you and emily in fact could be left alone in a room together without you malfunctioning. and you did it quiet often.
it had first started small. you had asked her about her move to europe from america and how she had managed to unpack everything and settle down so swiftly one evening only to find out she hadnât.
admitting to basically living out of boxes and her local market. you had offered to help her on a day off, only in hope for help in return. but she had only laughed it off so you hadnât expected much. going out for coffee a few days later, you reminded her that the offer was still there.
but as the following friday night came and you had just gotten off work, you got a call from the american. she had shyly; almost sheepishly asked for your help unpacking her flat. you quickly agreed and found yourself at her apartment within the hour. spending that friday night opening up boxes and reorganizing emilyâs house; a bottle of wine being the best thing for both of you at the end of the night.
you may have gotten a little too tipsy and as you found yourself in no form to drive home, and with it now being an early saturday morning. emily had insisted for you to stay the night.
you took the offer with little hesitation but she assured you that if anything, she enjoyed the company. admitting to you that she had actually desired for a while for someone to keep her company the way you had done tonight. only for it to continue a few days later. spending the night everyday too.
âgoodnight emily thank you for letting me stay overâ you had whispered. emily had just turned off the light on her nightstand, the brightness from her phone now being the only illuminating source in the room. it was probably the third or fourth night of you helping unpack and you two had fallen into a rhythm of some sorts.
she looked beautiful, your lips were parted as you looked over at the brunette. a cheeky smile crossing her lips as she looked over at you. âthank you for helping me unpack these last few daysâ
âitâs no big deal.â you quickly dismissed, your head resting comfortably against her pillow, closing your eyes as if to show how unbothered you were to have unpacked.
emily slid down the bed, looking over at you and her free hand touching your wrist. âstill. thank you. i really enjoy you being around.â
âi like being around.â the touch wasnât a big deal. it may have sent butterflies to your stomach and may have let you say some dumb things in your opinion. but as long as you repeated that it wasnât a big deal. it would stay that way.
âi highly doubt she feels the same, but thanks for the encouragement lotteâ
âwho feels the same?â alessia had asked as she brought in a large takeaway bag. the spent group of the 7 girls (you, lotte, alessia, emily, leah, katie, and caitlin) and tao had chosen not the spend the saturday night drinking out on the town with the rest of the team. rather deciding to eat takeaway and relax with a few films back at lotteâs flat.
you quickly looked over at lotte whoâs eyes widen, quickly stuttering out a bullshit excuse that nobody believed, yet nobody questioned. not caring enough to push the young girl.
emily took her spot right next to you, not thinking twice about another spot in the house. she hadnât asked or offered someone else the seat, she just made herself at home next to you. your eyes meeting lottes as she noticed her teammates decision too.
as the group of you all dug into your food, side chatter began. allowing you and emily to fall into a comfortable conversation as normal. âyou played amazing today.â
âthank you y/n. you looked amazing.â emily smiled over at you, grabbing her drink off of the table as she looked around the room to see if anyone had heard her. your cheeks were covered with a red tint, looking down sheepishly from her compliment. âas so did you em.â
âare you going back home tonight?â she questioned you. you shrugged, your mouth now being full with food as you tried to not allow yourself to say something stupid again.
âfigured we could finish the movie we started on thursday? you could just stay at mine and iâll drop you off at work when i go in for training?â
you nodded, never having a way of saying no to the brunette. âwait? are you two mates?â katie broke up the conversation, her loud mouth causing the whole group to look over at emily and you.
âuhhh, yeah? weâre here obviously?â emily asked confused. âno like you two hang out without the group?â
your face was probably as red as a tomato by this point, it wasnât the fact the you and emily hanging out was a secret per say. but it basically was one.
âyeah?â
âhow often?â katie continued.
âcouple times a week?â emily asked at you, a quick nod coming from you.
âfor how long??â lotte butted in at the new information.
âsince february? maybe late january.â emily took another bite of her food as if it was nothing. making the pit in your stomach only grow bigger.
âFEBRUARY?! itâs april?!â
a small scoff coming from the girl next to you as the group started questioning the independent interactions.
âit really doesnât matter to you guys, i enjoy spending time with y/n and thatâs all that really matters.â emily quickly shut them down. placing a strong, unseen hand on the top of your thigh, underneath the blanket thrown across your lap.

âiâm sorry about tonight, i didnât mean to make you uncomfortable or anythin-â
âwhy are you apologizing?â
you cut off emily, sitting on the edge of her bed only in a sports bra and a pair of unc soccer short; watching as she got ready to go to bed.
âi just donât want to make you feel uncomfortable with everything that happened tonight. youâre the closest thing i have that feels like home and i really didnât want the girls to ruin thatâ
you quickly motioned for emily to come stand in between your legs. wrapping your arms around her shoulders as you pulled her into you; her head falling into your neck as her hands rubbed against your bare sides as she pulled you into her by your waist.
feeling her sigh comfortable against you as you held her.
âyou have nothing to worry about em, you feel like home for me too.â you whispered against her skin; rubbing behind her ear as her grasp became tighter. your skin was on fire.
you couldnât tell if it was from the skin on skin contact with emily or if was due to the conversation being had. but the tension was undeniably there.
it wasnât to say you hadnât spent time in emilyâs arms. you had shared many hugs, cuddling often and even sharing a bed with her multiple nights. never being more than just as a friend; which was what was very different about this hug.
holding her body against your was something completely different this time. you could feel her tight stomach hardening underneath you and you would be lying if you said you didnt find it attractive.
emily pulled back from the hug only to be standing infront of you, making you look up at her. her eyes were slightly darker than youâve ever seen them. your hands fell down to rest on her waist, falling right on the waistband of her shorts.
rubbing your thumb against the exposed surface that was her hip bone made emilyâs thoughts race, all the flirting and feelings that had been caused and shared had all lead up to this point. and as your fingertips pressed into her back, she found herself losing control. âcan i kiss you?â
you had daydreamed about the fullback asking you that question; so once she did. you were absolutely ready. pulling her waist impossible close as you stretched up, emily took your eagerness to be close as a yes to her question and quickly ducked down. pressing her soft lips against yours as her hands held the sides of your face against hers.
it only took one action to release thousands of emotions through your body, but out of all of those emotions. the one that you felt the most was relief. kissing her back almost instantly and pulling her into you habitually.
you had desperately wanted this to happen for months, ever since that first night you had met emily honestly.
so as your lips worked against each other in a passionate kiss, your heart swelled at the thought of something being possible between you and emily.
pulling away only after being desperate for air; emily smiling down at you as you held a tight grip on her hips.
âwoahâ was the first thing spoke between the two of you; it slipping out from your lips as you looked up at the girl. âiâve been wanting to do that for so longâ
âso have iâ
