@lotus-eyedindiangoddess @charlie-the-candy-eater like 40% of cis straight women do have this mindset. I’ve been told countless times, “oh you aren’t straight? Well we can be friends, as long as you don’t fall in love with me.” Like girls, don’t flatter yourselves. They seem to think we fall in love with anything female in our sight.
But @charlie-the-candy-eater will totally come over to your blog if you want ;) /j
heya brownie fuck off and die honestly by supporting this movie you support rape, sexism and abuse and gaslighting!! So honestly fucking stop already you greaseball
Oooh this is interesting! Look everyone someone decided to hide behind their keyboard and a little grey face to threaten and insult me extremely childishly without making much sense!! (You’re adorable sweetie but please, at least back up your statements, oki doki?)
Firstly let’s break down your accusations one by one so everyone can understand properly, okay? heya brownie fuck off and die honestly
tried that, it never tends to work unfortunately. please keep racist remarks to yourself, sweet pea, although I doubt you’d say that to someone’s face because you strike me as a very cowardly person, you better watch yourself because someone’s gonna do us all a favour and knock your teeth out. :)))
by supporting this movie you support rape,
gonna stop you right there. what? the movie doesn’t have any content in it related to rape, sexual assault or sexual harassment. it’s implied briefly that loki went down on the grandmaster or that they had a sugar daddy/baby relationship but dude there wasn’t any rape in it. I believe even people who hate ragnarok would agree with me on that. nice try tho. (and as a victim of three times I beg you to stop throwing that word around without context :)))
sexism Dude did you watch the movie??
Firstly, just gonna check you mean the definition from the dictionary, because you seem to use words you think will cause outrage without any context; Sexism: (noun) prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women, on the basis of sex.
If so, may I remind you that Hela, played by the mesmerising Cate Blanchett, is an immensely powerful and worthy opponent (she did kind of crush Mjolnir into little pieces) and was the first major female villain in the MCU? (not counting Nebula.) And supporting female character, Valkyrie, is an addition to the “Revengers” (Thor suggests this widely vetoed group name) as she decides to help them face Hela. She is an elegantly stoic character with a drinking problem. Valkyrie was part of an elite force of female warriors sworn to protect the throne of Asgard. Also she’s awesome. I posted about her here: https://like-smouldering-fire.tumblr.com/post/644452201831530496/valkyrie-aka-brunhilde-is-in-my-opinion-one (I’m still quite new to making links and stuff so hope it works lol)
Plus there’s Opal and Loki, two more amazing female characters. (Loki is gender fluid and the Loki series queerbaited us by not outrightly stating it.)…..and let me add that this movie started the whole Thor: God of Lesbians thing!
abuse
TW doesn’t ever promote/support abuse. I agree it shouldn’t have been used as humor but let’s not pretend that’s the first time it’s been used as a joke in a marvel movie. I did a post about that here if anyone wants to check it out! https://like-smouldering-fire.tumblr.com/post/644452196281466880/so-i-know-a-lot-of-people-hate-this-scene-i-dont (I really hope these links work)
and gaslighting
Look, I agree gaslighting was a factor in the film. Thor gaslights Loki. Odin gaslights Loki. The Grandmaster gaslights everyone tbh. But that doesn’t mean it’s being promoted?
So honestly fucking stop already you greaseball
Once again, very undignified. Sweetie, at least insult people with style. Make up some spicy name to call me. Don’t use some outdated racist remark, please. And don’t hide behind a little grey face. Anyway if you don’t agree with this post/see more points to add, do send an ask or dm me and we’ll continue this conversation. But I doubt you will. Because you’re a racist little coward. :))

Well said and thanks for contributing, @lowkeylightning
However Thor has hurt Loki, many times, (examples off the top of my head; grabbing him and slamming him down on his back in avengers, despite the fact he wasn’t fighting back..using the control disk on him and leaving him in pain in Ragnarok, etc) but the difference is that there, they are enemies. Thor was angry with Loki for things that he obviously saw as bad.
The scene with the bottle tossed at Loki’s head, on the other hand, (despite the fact that Thor is still angry with him) is nothing more then siblinghood actually. Sorry but I promise you, I have siblings and have been hurt so much worse then this on many occasions.
I’m not saying tying someone up and throwing a bottle at their head is the way to go, but it isn’t abuse (I feel like people that call it abuse haven’t actually been abused, like, ever. Because then they might choose a very different word for this.) and Valkyrie had tied Loki up, unaware he could still use magic. Technically, he could have deflected the bottle if he wanted to, and Thor wanted to know if he was actually there.
They are both Viking gods living in space. It was a joke. It was not abuse lol.
But I have to point out one thing quickly that I actually don’t agree with on your end, @lowkeylightning
Also Loki did take over the world, and do other bad things. (Sort of deserves it.)
Um, no. Firstly, Loki attempted to take over the world but didn’t actually do it. Everybody knows, (it’s been confirmed) that Loki was under the Sceptre’s influence during the avengers, therefore dulling his consciousness and letting Thanos control him. He was very likely tortured by Thanos for nearly two years, right after he tried to suicide at the end of the first Thor.
Even so, even if he was completely evil and had killed lots of people under his own influence, he does not ‘deserve it.’
Despite the fact that it isn’t abuse, other things definitely could be classed as abuse, and he does not deserve to be abused, or hurt in any way because of things he did in the past. A person can be terrible but they don’t deserve to be abused. So now that I have made that part clear, I do still agree with your sentiment, from Thor’s perspective.
Of course Thor thought Loki deserved it, because Thor is Thor. He is, let me remind you, a Viking god living in space and he doesn’t exactly know what’s right and wrong. (Thanks Odin!) not.
And Loki does also constantly stab Thor...so...
Anyways, agreed, #stopbabyingloki because he doesn’t deserve it.
So I know a lot of people hate this scene:
Tumblr media
I don’t agree with it either, and I get how you guys are saying it’s abuse on Thor’s part and that it shouldn’t be used as humour. (It definitely shouldn’t!)
but don’t forget that
a) this isn’t the first time loki’s been hit ~in some cases bashed to smithereens~ in previous movies as a poorly attempt at humour, so it’s unfair to say this was Taika and Taika alone who started this joke and that it’s not Thor’s character (once again, I don’t agree with it, but let’s not pretend it’s the first time abuse has been used as a joke.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
b) abuse or not, Loki isn’t weak and he can take a bottle to the head, thrown from a distance and without much force. Don’t forget Thor still believes Loki tried to take over the world on his own accord, plus he thinks Loki is tricky enough to outsmart him and wanted to reassure himself that it wasn’t an illusion. (This is, like it or not, Thor’s character. And also Thor tends to push Loki around a lots even in the first Thor movie. They’re technically Viking gods, it’s not like Loki was wounded badly. I love Loki, I love the fandom’s Loki, and I love how much the fandom has really developed his character like no other, but let’s not baby him.)
c) It’s abuse, and it’s uncalled for, but that’s just it, isn’t it? Thor at that point in the movie is still very hotheaded and blames Loki for being stuck on Sakaar.
I don’t always appreciate Thor’s character but it’s not only Ragnarok that portrayed him that way. Plus let’s not forget Loki stabs Thor, like, all the time.

A valuable inclusion
If you’re a Loki Stan then you would like Ragnarok bc TW hates Loki
You’re missing a whole adverb there, but I’m going to presume you mean I wouldn’t like Ragnarok? Okay let’s go with that then.
Taika does not hate Loki.
I ‘understand‘ the ‘reason’ why Chris Hemsworth would hate/be spiteful toward Tom Hiddleston bc Tom Hiddleston is more popular then him and is basically, just a better actor. (I don’t believe Hemsworth hates Hiddleston. This jealousy just seems so unrealistic and petty of him. But idk)
Taika, on the other hand, loves Loki. (Look, TW is many things, okay. He’s funny, clever, and a good director. He isn’t, however, good at being professional or serious. And that’s not all together a bad thing, but he tends to get what I like to call ‘overwhelmed‘ and says dumb things that make it seem like he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. But he does, I know he does. Because I do the same thing when I‘m trying to explain things; I say dumb things instead. It doesn‘t mean those things were meant to come out that way.
You guys overanalyse everything he says, and come up with conclusions like that he doesn’t think it’s important to put emotional parts in films or that he hates Loki, or rich people. (He never said that, and he doesn’t think that. Watch Hunt of The Wilderpeople, it balances out emotion and humor really well, I loved it. And he doesn‘t hate Loki, or hate rich people. That’s just how he comes across. People aren’t perfect.)
On the other hand, I think he likes Hiddleston and Loki quite a lot.
As quoted by Hiddleston himself;
“Taika and I went out for a bowl of pasta before Ragnarok and he said ‘I’m gonna change quite a lot, but I’m not gonna change you.’ And I took that as a huge compliment. I’ve always felt a responsability to both honor the respect in which the character is held but also to try and progress it on.”
Does it sound like he hates Loki? No, it does not.
Also, some rather lovely photo proof:

Thankyou for the ask miny-cookie!!! Here’s Taika wearing Loki’s helmet to show how much he loves him:

Do you ship Sifki?
Yes, I do indeed. It’s in my bio 😁
I think Lady Sif and Loki would make a very interesting pairing and I like couples that challenge each other. Also the sexual tension so thick you could cut it with a knife. (And love is a dagger after all.)

APPERICATION POST FOR:
COCO
GOTG VOLUME 2
WONDERWOMAN
SPIDER-MAN: FFH
THOR: RAGNAROK
THE LAST JEDI
THE GREATEST SHOWMAN
(These are literally all my favourite movies I can’t believe it.)
Ok so, in the wake of the Oscars, I just thought I should mention something? Kind of a big thing? Please correct me if I’ve missed sonething, because something feels wrong here
Coco deserved better. It’s super insulting that the Boss Baby got put on the same level, because that’s just flat-out B.S.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 came out? In case you forgot? Humour, good jokes, good soundtrack, good writing? Where is it’s recognition?
WHERE WERE THE AWARDS FOR WONDER WOMAN?!?! I usually dislike DC in general, and that movie was EPIC. WHERE IS ITS RECOGNITION
Spiderman: Homecoming! Awards? Where? We need any recognition for Tom Holland! Zendaya! EVERYONE! Also, the humour in it was legit the best.
THOR RAGNAROK CAME OUT WHERE IS ITS RECOGNITION. ELECTRONIC MUSIC. JOKES. LED ZEPLIN. WHY NOT GIVE IT MORE RECOGNITION. WHY.
It came out! It was well produced, if not consistent to the book, well written, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT?!?! haLP
Star Wars: The Last Jedi was prETTY AMAZING AT LEAST SOMETHING GOT RECOGNITION
And last but not least:
The Greatest Showman was SOOO UNDERAPPRECIATED?!?! Hugh Jackman didn’t spend forever on this for one song to be nominated? And it wasn’t even his? Zac Efron deserved better? Zendaya deserved better? Keala Settle deserved better? Like, seriously? Nothing? And last year you so highly esteemed La La Land, and this is what The Greatest Showman gets? I feel betrayed?
