Somewhere in #gensan
The reason why I take a shot in this picture, you know because at some point in our life, we lack appreciation on things around us. Though this simple place in a bridge appreciated me much because it is beautiful in my eyes. This is a bridge route directly to gensan fishport up to katangawan which is a long travel highway but driver call it “shortcut” because it shorten your time in travelling also to avoid traffic jam in the cities.

Punta Isla, Lake Sebu
“A place where Life blends with Nature”
Yes! The quote tells the truth, based on my experienced for how many years in going back in punta isla. You will find out later why I love the place so much.
Inside Punta Isla Lake Resort
Famously located at Tokuful Lake Sebu, South Cotabato. When I hear lake sebu, the first thing that comes my mind is that this punta isla resort. The freshness of the air, the aroma of the flowers and greenery scene and breezy smell infused with the lake waters touches my emotion. This is my favorite spot when it comes to stress-free vacation.
Pure blooded T’boli
This beautiful ladies welcomed me politely and generously, they are pure blooded t’boli. Their job is to welcoming guest even if it is locals or foreign. As I was observing, they got beautiful brown color in the eyes that catches me.
T’boli people was located at the surrounding area of lake sebu and nearest uphill mountains. Women are good in weaving t’nalak, a traditional cloth made from abacca fibers which was originally used by tboli’s since the time of their ancient. A traditional skills that has been passed from every women by generations. Hand-woven cloth has a traditional color which was red, black and color of abacca leaves. The black color represents their struggles and the soil from which life begins and the red is for their bravery, love and commitment. The light brown abaca or the white stands for purity.
The Tour
Upon my arrival, these two lovely women approach me nicely and lovely, they are attractive also. They are polite and professional in dealing with locals and travellers like me.
Services and Aminities
Though I got no time posting some of their rooms and amenities because I did not stay for an overnight but for me its quite affordable and relaxing. Trust me, I’ve been visiting and staying here for quite long now.
I did post this just for information for us travelers. Though I did not stay for a night but I have experienced here staying for a two nights long and I was over satisfied.
Watch yah Head Idiot!
Boating and Floating Cottages
Boating may charge you another bill but its worth to pay because it tours you around the lake and visit every islet surrounding the lake. It may cost you P80.00 per head that would last for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
The tours and Scenery
A glimpse inside punta isla. A green place with relaxing ambiance and breezy fresh of air infused with lake.
Fishnets, where locals get there famous tilapia. This is the place where i love to watch the nature, it seems myself blended with this nature. The aroma of the flowers, the peaceful nature with humming sounds of birds and trees, The smell of cold breeze and overlooking lake touches my emotion. This is why I love Punta Isla, this is why I love Lake Sebu.
This is the moment i realized i blend with nature. mentioning above were the reason I always go back here in punta isla for nature tripping and stress free vacation.
I found a native girl, I don’t know her name but she was pretty. She told me she was a native grow up originally from lake lahit but she studied in gensan where my place is.
I find her attractive and different but anyway she became my guide for a while.
She was looking for something I do not know, This is the time where I came to ask and make friends :)
I am concentrating on my visits here in punta isla.
I bought her halo-halo for it was her favorite dessert in punta isla, since punta isla served also desserts and many more. One of the best halo-halo in town. I am really concentrating on my visit here in punta isla. I am glad I met my guide.
Do not Forget the Food
Because it was visible that thier economic depend on tourism and most specially in tilapia. We order lots of original tilapia dishes.
I don’t have the menu but I recommend to taste the tilapia sisig, tilapia chicharon and tilapia paksiw sa gata.
I satisfy my cravings for food with the tilapia while staying in lake sebu.
Satisfied stomach, overwhelming nature trip and peaceful ambiance. , I will always visit punta isla. What I loved is I can dine with a great view of the lake. This what I describe in punta isla There is nothing else like Lake sebu.
While waiting for your food, people from the t'boli tribe would do a small presentation of their history, culture, music, and dance. It was a beautiful presentation especially their music. It has a distinct serene tone only heard in lake sebu by the t’boli.
youtube
How to get there:
From gensan airport, look for a taxi cab outside and ride for 20 minutes to bulaong bus terminal. (The easiest mode of going to Lake Sebu from General Santos City is to hire a van or jeepney to conveniently take you there if you are on a group.)
hop on a bus bound to koronadal or marbel, Travel would only take 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on the traffic, but mostly 1 hour is long enough.
Drop side in marbel terminal then hop again on a bus for a short ride to surallah. Jeepneys and vans going to lake sebu are stationed in surallah terminal. It is very easy to get to lake sebu since people often working in koronadal and surallah, so expect many workers and villagers going back to their home in lake sebu.

Best Buko Halo-halo @ Koronadal City
One of the best halo-halo in the upgrading city of koronadal, the T’nalak fest of the south in mindanao.
Officially the City of Koronadal and popularly known as Marbel, is a 3rd class component city in the Philippines. It is the capital of the province of South Cotabato and regional center of Soccsksargen.
APAREJA BUKO HALO-HALO is one of the pride of marbel in terms of desserts and for cooling down tripper’s tummy.
I am not a buko nor halo-halo lover but just amazed of the freshness the buko halo-halo was..
Located along the hi-way of barrio otso or barangay saravia in koronadal city south cotabato. People say many side trippers, locals and tourist came along to taste the buko halo-halo.
Inside found many buko being cut and piled one by one. I ask the person counting the buko on how much was being piled and said it was almost a hundred or more in just a day.
Staff are visibly busy preparing more than hundreds of buko being cut. I never seen as busy as this preparing for a one order of buko halo, this is enormous preparation as I observed.
Yes, tables and chairs ofcourse. by the way, buko halo was served at P80.00 with its water served chilled in a pitcher.
Like most of the halo-halo, recipe’s inside are sweetened, the buko inside are already scrape. I am not a sugar lover nor sweets but i could say it is more than sweet..
Like I said earlier, I am not a halo-halo nor buko lover, I am just a traveller who eats a lot, travel a lot but I must say I will get back to apareja sooner, nothing beats its sweetness and freshness.
If El Nino attacks you, you know where to go :)
