I just love that polleny bit in the middle of the delicate stamen. The #hollyhock is one of my favourite flowers shamelessly tall with those lovely rich velvety bells, here the colour of a soft merlot with plum undetones. Heavenly! #englishgarden @floriculture https://www.instagram.com/p/CB8TrsYAgEB/?igshid=uvhg7lmm35fx

Last of the summer wine
When the days were still sun drenched, in early October last year,  I visited Elena my Italian friend. She lives in Lugo, a regional town, not far from Bologna.
On Sunday afternoon we took a drive. An impromptu turning off road lead us up a dusty track beside the river, and through an avenue of bottle green pine trees, their branches, spread wide and flat like table tops. On and on, winding around, passing only a family of picnickers. We stopped the car, when we could no longer drive on.
In the clearing, nestled in the bosom of natures umbrella stood two grey horses, saddled up, idling their time, grazing. Their tails swished harmoniously in response to bothersome insects, each movement, each twitch catching, the golden light.
We couldn't see their mounts, but we could hear their vibration, laughter and enjoyment, it came from a back ground noise that was unmistakably Italian, the intermittently chink of glass and cutlery touching the plate from a leisurely Sunday lunch.
‘I must learn to ride!’ said Elena.

Merry Xmas one and all...

Merry Christmas one and all
Early Christmas morning, peaceful, quiet on the roads, and with the sun streaming brightly. No need for gloves or scarf, I took myself a little walk about Ealing wishing the people I passed a Happy Xmas, they returned the greeting on the way to church or to spend their day with friends or family, children showing off Santa's snowman sweaters and scootering, hopscotch on the pavement, dogs wagging tails excitedly, church bells ringing land queues for Munson’s coffee raising funds for charity, the odd  Santa hat I met along my way.
This is my little selection of snapshots inspired by Christmas time. Hope you've all had as enjoyable and peaceful time as we have, full of beautiful hospitality treats and goodwill. Thank you for the LOVE, Cara Julian Ben, Mavis and Adam.

Lull before a storm...
Love sightseeing in the Bali rain!  Theres something magical about the north of the island,  picture postcard views of her mirror polished glass lakes, lush national park nestled against a mountainous backdrop and her steaming volcanos, their Misty Moodiness of an unpredictable nature.

Glimpses of the real Bali; rainy days, steamed up glasses, dripping umbrellas, slippery roads, plastic ponchos, ducking and diving, plastic ponchos, slippery roads, wet hair. Business as usual. Love sightseeing in the rain.

Great British traditions to be upheld!
Fish n’ chips on the pebbled beach on the Kent coast, Dungerness.
Everything about a day trip here is fabulous and it is easy to see why Derek Jarman, film maker found it's real and expansive seascape an inspiring and peaceful place to be. Enjoy.

All that remains.
Harnessed secrets of a derelict old mill, once a solid workhorse driving forward, Busy textile makers and a thriving silk industry.
Once,  the home to the country’s largest manufacturer of life floats, then car components, quite an illustrious history.
Thatchers Britain put paid to manufacturing industries.  I saw her bare bones lying there, a mummy of a factory sprawled out in the centre of  town. exposed to the elements for seven years. Saved by the bell, Saxonvale silently awaits regeneration.
For now  it is a blank canvas  of a different sort, for a different kind of artist.  consider it a hidden Gem!
