Damn it, where is it. Lennon thought as she dug through the mulch outside of the grill. Of course this wasn’t how she saw her ‘relaxing’ self care afternoon going. Which in Lennon terms meant smoking a j, musing in her journal, getting absolutely loaded on fried food and then going home to maybe take a nap before work. “Well don’t just stand there, help me look!” she said when she felt someone creep up on her. Stopping she looked up at the other, “Okay I’m sorry I’m just hangry and I dropped my apartment key into this bush and I think it’s down in here somewhere.” she laughed. “I can’t ask my landlord for another one again or he’ll seriously evict me.”

“It is. Usually people ask for it when they’re truly nice and inebriated. It’s the only way the pickleback goes down.” He chuckled softly under his breath. Honestly, JJ wasn’t expecting anything less than her reaction right in that moment. To be fair once upon a time he wore that disgusted expression on his face. “Okay, first. You can’t knock it until you try it and secondly, I’ll have you know that it’s highly requested. Mostly in March but still.” He playfully rolled his eyes. “Though if you really want the better drink. Let me make you the pickled surfer. That one is better. Less of the pickle taste and I think you’ll like it better. I’ll need your Irish whiskey though and the lime juice.”
“I can imagine” Lennon shuttered at the thought. As she gathered the ingredients she had a feeling she knew what was next. “So does this mean you’re going to make me try it also.. or okay let me clarify- not make me but side eye the hell out of me until I do?” she joked knowing that she truly shouldn’t be knocking it. Some of her favorite combos are, well, questionable so who knows maybe she’d like it. “OoOh!” Her eyes lit up with a lightbulb moment. “Why don’t you make me both and not tell me which and let me decide and if I react with a facial expression then you win something.” she shrugged not exactly knowing what yet.

ajdupontmoreau:
AJ was one of those people who could be tied with the beach - whether it was because of his looks or just the vibe he gave off. He didn’t mind it. There were many assumptions about him and this one was true. He loved the beach but not just for the sun, surfing and hot babes but for the quiet stillness it gave him when he went for his jogs. He had been on one of those when he noticed someone just standing on the beach. As he ran closer, he could make out the side of Lennon’s face and slowed down his jog to a walk and approached. “It’s one of my two favourite times of the day at the beach, so yes, it is,” he offered to her initial comment. AJ looked out at the water and happened to agree that it was fairly dark but mused otherwise. “I’d like to think the shift from sand to water under someone’s feet would let them know to stop walking.” He looked over curiously after her question, his eyes playful. “Why do I feel like I’ll be roped into this dip? And why do I feel like I’ll hear the whole ‘who needs a swimsuit to go swimming’ bit while we’re at it?”
Lennon glanced over at him, his jogging attire almost clashing against her own very did up look from the show she just did at the boiler room. She was sure the glitter was still on her cheeks most definitely reflecting from the moonlight that shined down at them. She wanted to make a joke about how he was better than her for doing that. Out here, running doing good for himself and his body and here she was coming off of a show where she had maybe one too many drinks and staring at the freaking ocean. Lennon could almost laugh at herself for him but she shut that idea out, it was her toxic thoughts taking over. Those dark ones that sometimes won. Instead, the corners of her lips curled into a small smile, “One of your two favorites huh?” she cocked and eyebrow at him. “And yes possibly..” she trailed figuring he had a point. “I sometimes just look out and wish I could just walk and keep on walking.. not sure where I’d end up.” she mused again breaking away from his gaze that she knew she couldn’t get trapped in and back out onto the almost black water. A chuckle bubbled out of her, “You know me too well..” she said with a subtle smirk as her hands came up to her tied up blouse. “Well you aren’t going to let me get eaten by a shark now are you.. I mean c’mon the tabloids eat that one up.” she teased knowing it wasn’t the case. “Besides I’m sure after a jog you could use a rinse all sweaty.. and gross.. “ she teased continued to smile and shed layers.

Lennon of course wondered off from the group she was with, another bachelorette party where the bride was almost too drunk to function and they were taking yet another photo in their matching t-shirts. It wasn’t her scene, not that she wasn’t happy the drunken bride had asked her to be in her wedding party. I mean she really didn’t have any friends in the first place, then again the bride was merely just a stranger about a month ago when she asked her to be in her wedding while Lennon was serving her the woman’s fourth round of tequila shots. Lennon thought it was a joke until the matching t-shirt showed up at her door with the front reading,#doingthedamnthing. She rolled her eyes as she stumbled through the lined paths of grapes stumbling while trying to take the shirt off with one hand and balancing her glass in the other. The shirt got caught on her hoop as she tripped and was then in her bra facing the shirtless man. Covering herself with the t-shirt she chuckled, “Now I know I’m one to talk.. but you look really funny right now.” she laughed so hard she snorted a little, maybe that wine was stronger than she thought.

Brodie was looking around the vineyard, his jog slowing down to a stroll. Though it was catered towards the elite population, the male had a soft spot for the trails that led him here. Ignoring one of the many signs that stated to leave the grapes alone and listening to the intrusive rumbling of his stomach, the tall male took a grape from the vine and popped it into his mouth. Upon hearing someone getting closer, the Sato man took his shirt off, one-handed, in a fluid motion. Partly as a distraction tactic, partly to commit to the bit he was about to pull. "Damn, time for some more push-ups." He stated as if that was what he was doing this whole time.

The cool ocean air blew through Lennon’s wavy mane of curls, the warmth from the drink she had before the show still coursing through her veins keeping her warm on this brisk night. She needed some liquid courage before her set, but the problem is courage only got her so far. As she stood looking out onto the black sea she felt a presence near. Turning to see who it was her lips curled into a u-shape. “Calming isn’t it?” she quipped. “Yet terrifying.” she lead on. “The water almost blends in with the sky, if we couldn’t hear it we’d might just blindly walk into the abyss.” Lennon mused. Looking back out onto the sea then over at the other. “Dare me to take a dip?”

“Ew, get out of here that’s not a real drink even...” Lennon tilted her head over at the other and bit the inside of her cheek. There was no way they made a peanut butter pickle drink and there was no actual way that someone would drink that. “That’s some pregnant woman’s craving not an alcoholic beverage J-” Lennon rocked the bottle of peanut butter flavored whiskey in her hand..”Is this the kinda shit you serve next door, listen I make good tips here I can’t be losing my regulars with this kinda thing..” Lennon appreciated how Jj stopped in while she was working, in fact she looked forward to the times he’d pop by to show her a new thing or to but today she truly thought he was pulling a fast one. She shook her head is disbelief once more.

-Lennon isn’t for everyone that’s for sure. To compare it to something-she’s that bitter taste you get when you lick a lemon and while you pucker either decide you enjoy it or that it’s not for you. Lennon was born to two loving parents who not only had a love for their daughter but of musicians. Being named after two it was kind of fate that she end up with a love for music. Since she could remember she’s been singing and performing. From doing one woman shows in front of all her aunts and uncles at holiday to the school plays to performing in local coffee shops.
But like all artist, there is a turning point. A point where if Netflix was making a documentary about her life Lennon would say- yep that’s the point it all changed. When Lennon was set to perform for the Boston center of the arts new talent where schools like Juliard had front row seats reserved she waited in the wings anxiously. Her phone was getting closer to 8pm the time she was set to go on and do the song she’d been rehearsing. This could be the moment it all changed- simultaiosly as she stepped foot onto the stage taking a deep breath and bracing herself with a smile, her parents were taking their last. The winter storm had iced the road on their way to the venue which unfortunately they never made it to.
Lennon was seventeen when her parents died. An only child she had no one, no where to go, she was lost.
At seventeen she was put into a foster care system and sent to live with a family in Cape May. It was there she lived with her Foster dads and ended up getting adopted. Only a year later to be legally free, Lennon stayed around. Thankful that her dads were the people they were and helped her even when she pushed so hard back at them. It wasn’t a long time she lived there but long enough to finally start letting some light back into her life. She picked up a guitar again for the first time since her parents died when she was 27. Her adopted father Rafel got it for her on her 18th birthday but it sat collecting dust in the corner of her room. When she was 23 she moved out into her own place, just to feel more independence and let it collect more dust in the corner of her one bedroom place. But on her 27th birthday on the 10 year anniversary of her parents death.. she let her fingers strum a single cord. The vibrations sending chills down her spine. It felt like it was meant to be.
Gradually, Lennon has gotten back into music, playing small gigs here to there to curb her appetite for the spotlight. In the meantime she serves at the boiler room to make ends meet and tries to still let the light in when she dances barefoot in her apartment. Through all the darkness she still find a light. However, with light there is still dark. In fact, pitch black. Lennon deals with a substance abuse issue- her crutch of sort. She feels like a cliche but it’s the only thing that drowns out the pain some nights. Never letting anyone close enough to risk losing them again- keeping a steady flow of have high have sane. Sometimes you never know which Lennon you’re gonna get.
