-> when leckie had to run back for help on peleliu and found it difficult to leave his wounded buddy runner (especially after what happened with hoosier, they fought for bill’s life before his eyes, then got taken away leaving him clueless about his conditions), and kept promising he will return to him, and when he reunited with runner on the boat, leckie got flooded with guilt about not made it back to him on the field, and while he repeated that he had tried to get help, he couldn’t even look him in the eye. :((( ALSO, also, the plate of peaches in front of him, before runner showed up, these peaches were a call back for the happy moments he shared with his best buddies during the darkest time of their lives, it’s just means a lot to me

and i also think a lot about when chuck got shot, how speirs did EVERYTHING and his best to save his life, he stood beside him, refusing to give up hope, holding hands and acted without any hesitation to get a brain surgeon, the whole vendetta that later generated from this, and not to mention, - indirectly related to what happened, but it is possible he might got a sense of guilt because of chuck as well :c
