“I know it isn’t your fault.” Alastor said quietly. “I know that. I don’t mean to make you feel bad, that is the last thing I want, Luciana. Apparently, I’m the jealous type.” He said with a small smile. “And you do not need to take responsibility for that. That is my issue, okay?”

“Alastor, you may not have been my first, but you were the first one who mattered. And if it means anything, I’m hoping you’ll be my last.” Luciana smiled softly as she spoke, leaning in to press a gentle kiss to his cheek. “You’re everything I’ve ever wanted and more.”

“I know.” Alastor said sharply, not meaning to sound so defensive. He took Luci’s hand with a frown. “I just can’t help the way I feel when I- when I think of you with… them.”

Luciana didn’t know what to say, didn’t know if there was anything she could say to make this better. She couldn’t change her past, nor did she want to. It was the very thing that had led her to him. “I didn’t love them. You’re the only one I’ve ever loved.”

Alastor felt a flare of jealousy at Luci’s words and grit his teeth, knowing there was no way she hadn’t felt it too. He wasn’t stupid, he knew she had slept with other people before him, but that didn’t seem to stop it from hurting. Just the thought of her with somebody else made his whole body tense, he realized his fists were clenched at his side and relaxed his hands. “I will.” He said quietly. “You’ll be the first… and only person to know.”

Luciana’s smile fell almost immediately when she sensed his pain. Her hands wrapped around his, coaxing them open to interlace their fingers. “You know you’re my only guy, right? None of them matter to me anymore. Not since I met you.” She sighed sadly, knowing she’d messed up by letting it slip out. Here she was speaking about her past dalliances, when she’d been his one and only. “I’m sorry...”

Alastor laughed lightly. “Believe me, Luci, I know that, and you know that isn’t why I hold back.” He sighed, brushing a strand of hair away from her face. “As strange as it sounds to have ‘sex in a public place’ as a goal, I’ll get there, one day.”

Luciana’s nose scrunched up a bit. “Doesn’t sound strange at all. Speaking from experience, I think it’s something that should be on everyone’s bucket list. You just let me know when you’re ready.”

Alastor couldn’t help his grin. “It isn’t intentional, but if you like it then I’m certainly not complaining.”

“Don’t feel like you need to hold back on my part. I never want you to curb your desires for me.”

“Sorry.” Alastor mumbled as he broke the kiss. “I couldn’t resist.”

“Fucking tease,” she giggled. “Don’t be sorry. I like it.”

Alastor knew Luci would be able to feel the surge of happiness caused by her words so he didn’t say anything, instead he gently ran his hand up her body, letting his fingers tangle in the hair at the base of her neck as he tilted her head upwards before leaning in to kiss her.

Luciana hummed softly, her body pressing closer to his, shivering slightly at his touch. “Now this just isn’t fair,” she whispered into the kiss, words muffled by his lips on hers.

“Okay.” Alastor said quietly, biting down on his bottom lip to suppress another smile. He snaked an arm around Luci’s waist, holding her against him. “Where did you say the books were?”

"They’re down that way,” she uttered, pointing a bit to the left. “But I kind of like you holding me here like this, so maybe we just hold for a minute before snagging those books.”

Alastor smiled, feeling a little self-conscious. “I, uh- I don’t know what to say to that.” He admitted.

“Don’t say anything. Just let me love you in silence.”

alastornott:

“I’m not lying.” Alastor pulled Luci closer and kissed her head gently. “I don’t think you’re special because of your Veela blood. I think you’re special in spite of it.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever been so attracted to someone. And yes, it is very much because of what you just said to me.”

alastornott:

“Merlin knows why.” Alastor said quietly, he shot her a small smile to let her know he was half joking. “I already know what I’m getting into, Luci. You aren’t going to scare me away.”

“I believe you. You’re the only one who has ever told me that where didn’t sound like a lie.” It was a relief that she could feel the truth in his words. A good sign.

Alastor sighed. “We can research a different topic. It doesn’t have to be Veelas.” He took Luci’s hands. “This goes both ways, I let you in too. Neither of us could afford to lose the other, that’s how this works now, okay? So nothing I read is every going to change the way I think of you. That’s a promise.”

“No, I want to do this. I want you to know what you’re getting into with loving me. With loving some like me.” Luciana trusted that he was with her for her, and not the veela blood running through her veins. “I love you, Alastor. So much more than words can express.”
