Summary:

At that moment, late afternoon on a Monday, Isagi was quietly watching soccer videos as he thought of what to eat, when he heard a loud thud coming from up the stairs.

He stopped the video and listened to the noises of the house, everything was silent, he could faintly hear the fridge and the washing machine running, still, he couldn’t help but get up from the sofa.

As silent as he could be, he slowly walked up the stairs, he could make out some noises, they were steps, maybe, someone…

There was someone in his bedroom.

It was late in the afternoon and, being summer, there was still a lot of light, but nobody was out in the streets. Maybe they were all still at work. "Or I’m the only one who get out of the house in this heat," he thought as he wiped his sweaty forehead.

He reached the hotel after a short walk and found it exactly as he had left it that morning: dirty and empty. The only difference was that this time Spoon was with him (he had tried to leave him at the station but there had been no way).

He rang the polished bell on the reception desk, expecting the man of the day before to appear behind him, but nothing happened. He rang it again, hard. The din echoed through the room, a single ethereal sound that stuck in his brain until it was the only thing he could hear. He massaged his ears, but the sound was as persistent as a bad smell. Keigo thought, breathless, that perhaps he would never be able to hear normally again.

Then Spoon mewed and the unpleasant effect dissolved into nothing. Keigo sighed with relief and smiled gratefully at the cat. That was the second favor he owed him.

Keigo had no idea what had happened, but it was likely that he was paying the consequences for the sleepless night. Even if he wasn’t too lucid, he still had to find someone in that hotel to ask questions to, he couldn’t waste time, Todoroki Touya could've been in danger.
