In very first step just take out the Ethernet cable which going from modem to the computer. To connect the router to the modem use the short Ethernet cable provided with the router. The cable you just unplugged from the modem attach to the either of 1-4 switch port of the router. After this use the A/C adapter to plug your router in to the power.
Open up the web browser once you successfully plugged in your wireless router. Type “192.168.0.1” in to internet Explore address bar (any web browser can work but I recommend internet explorer) and hit enter on your keyboard. You will see router login page once the page loaded. Type in the password for the administrator which is “admin” and proceed to the next screen. Now select “setup” option on the top left corner of the tab. Click on wireless setting after you change the left hand side tab. You will get 3 options to select in the center of the screen just select “manual wireless network setup” it will be the bottom one.
In this screen you will see your basic wireless network setting. First, give your wireless router a name that you can recognize it by. Secondly, select a type of Security Mode. For the most people usages the WEP-Personal should be efficient. After that is selected a new window at the bottom appears. Type your password in the Pre-Shared Key, scroll to the top and hit save, and that’s all there is to it

You can reset your router to the factory setting in case you unable to find it and then look up for the router model online
Most default usernames are admin.
Most default passwords are admin or blank.
Use configuration software.
Now days the installation CD is comes with many Linksys router and configuration program can be installed through this. With its help you will not need to connect to the internet to change the setting and you also will not need to enter and username and password to use it. Once you open the configuration software, the menus will generally be the same as the browser menus.

How to configure the router
Most of the wireless routers have the instruction book of setup in the box. It could be different according to the router model and their brand. It becomes very easy now to setup the router. For example the cisco Linksys EA and E-series of router can be configuring with just few steps. But it could still hard for the new owner to setup the router in some cases. To setup many wireless router there are few convention that can be follow.
1. Disconnect the current router that may be in place
2. Disconnect the broadband modem
