Breathe Text animation
I designed this quick motion graphic to go with our collaborative campaign to help promote and raise awareness for our cause in an alternative way. Although simple, I think this kind of motion graphic is very effective for our project and also quite soothing. However, if I had more time to develop this further, I would try and slow down the motion to a natural, breathing pace as an aid for key-workers to follow if they suffered from anxiety.
I made this motion piece in After Effects using simple position keyframes and expressions.

LUSH animation
This is a quick animation I did for one of my University workshops. My idea was to try and animate the word LUSH in way that looked like it was dissolving, similar to a bath bomb.

Updated Liquid Logo Animation
After some feedback from my tutor, it was suggested that I add the location and the date into my animation. This meant that I had to make the animation slightly longer to give each piece of information enough time on the screen for viewers to read. The logo animal itself is exactly the same as the previous version, but I used a similar animation effect for the text as I did for my in game promo. This will help link both of my animations together and this kind of text animation is common in game, helping to further link my festival with Animal Crossing.

Backgrounds
These are some backgrounds I made using dry ink pads and stencils. I had created these at the start of the module with the intention of creating some Lino stamps to stamp over them. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to do this in the end, and there were other important things that I needed to finish for my project first.
However, I really enjoyed making these and I will definitely keep these backgrounds for future projects whether that's personal projects or university projects.
I also made a little animation of all of my backgrounds for my social media which can be viewed below.

Animal Crossing Island
This was an animation I created at the start of my festival project when I had a bit of spare time. After some consideration, I decided not to use this animation in my main project because I didn't think it fit with the rest branding as the weeks progressed. However, I put a lot of time and effort into this animation so thought I would share it as the project is coming to a close.
While this was a very tedious animation to make, I think it looks pretty good and closely matches the original loading screen animation!

In-Game Promo
Since my festival is all about Animal Crossing, I thought it would be fun to have an in game promo a week before the event took place, to remind and inform players about the real life event. To get the footage of Isabelle talking, I first had to save the video from my Switch. It took me a few days to get an introduction that was long enough for what I needed and for her reactions to be suitable for the information I wanted to include.
Once I had the footage, I imported it into After Effects and replaced her text with what I wanted to say about my event. This was a little difficult because I had to make sure my text matched Isabelle's speech, so she wasn't talking when there wasn't anything to be said. I also had to edit out the date at the start of the clip as my event is taking place in 2022. I'm quite happy with how this turned out as I didn't know exactly what font is used in game, but I think I matched it pretty well and it almost looks exactly the same!

Final Liquid Logo Animation
While I liked the logo animation itself, I decided to go back and edit the colours of the logo since I had finally settled on my brand colour palette. It wasn't a huge change but the green colour is more of a mute green and is now the final reveal colour instead of the blue. This allows my animation to stay on brand and consistent with the rest of the advertising for my festival.
I also wasn't happy with the static image in the background of my last animation and thought that I could make it a little more interesting by adding stock footage. I think this really helped to push my animation to look more professional and almost like a real event.

Liquid animation 1
This was my first attempt at animating my Festivale logo using After Effects. To create this liquid animation, I used the vegas effect (which can be found in effects and presets) and adjusted the settings to fit my logo. This is something I had never used before, but I enjoyed learning something new and I think it gave my logo that smooth trace and reveal effect that I was looking for. COLOUR IN BRANDING
WHY IS COLOUR IN BRANDING IMPORTANT?
When it comes to branding, the power of colour is both emotional and practical. On an emotional level, colour can affect how consumers feel when they look at a brand, while on a practical level it can help a brand stand out in the crowd.
LIST OF COLOURS AND THEIR MEANING IN BRANDING:
Red: Red stands for passion, excitement and anger. It can signify importance and command attention. Used in branding, it can deliver an impactful punch with the ability to increase desire. It is a bold, energetic, and lively color that can symbolize strength, confidence, and power.
Tips for use: In many Asian countries such as India and China, red is regarded as the colour of happiness, wellbeing, and good fortune
Orange: Orange stands for playfulness, vitality and friendliness. It is invigorating and evokes energy. Light pastel peach tones are seen as sweet, conversational, and affable, whereas more intense, vibrant oranges are seen as representative of vitality, energy, and encouragement.
Tips for use: Because orange is associated with fun and vibrancy is well suited to youthful, energetic brands and best avoided for luxury, traditional or serious brands.
Yellow: Yellow evokes happiness, youth and optimism, but can also seem attention-grabbing or affordable. It can also be associated with mental clarity and intellect.
As I was researching the colour psychology in branding, the website that I got most of my information from analysed the Ikea logo and how it uses the colour yellow because it is where most first time home owners go to buy new products to furnish their home. It explains that this is a milestone achievement which is filled with happiness and excitement, hence the colour yellow in their logo. I found this information very interesting as a recent first time buyer myself, and despite making many trips to IKEA myself over this time, I have never made that association before.
Green: Green evokes stability, prosperity, growth and a connection to nature. Tips for use: Pick your shade of green carefully as brighter, lighter greens indicate growth, vitality, and renewal; while darker, richer greens represent prestige, wealth, and abundance.
Light Blue: A light shade of blue exudes tranquility, trust, openness. It can also signify innocence. It is a favorite color for companies that wish to convey reliability, trustworthiness, and communication.
Dark Blue: Dark blue stands for professionalism, security and formality. It is mature and trustworthy.
Purple: Purple can signify royalty, creativity and luxury. Darker shades often represent luxury or opulence while lighter lavender shades are quite feminine, sentimental, and even nostalgic.
Pink: Pink stands for femininity, youth and innocence. It ranges from modern to luxurious. Pale pink is often aimed at little girls, dusty pink is more sentimental or romantic, while hot pink indicates youthfulness.
Brown: Brown gets a lot of use in this era of organic and natural food, beauty, and products. Nature-inspired it represents a feeling of wholesomeness, orderliness, and being grounded. It is simple, strong, durable, and honest. (Marshall, n.d.)
White: White evokes cleanliness, virtue, health or simplicity. It can range from affordable to high-end.
Grey: Grey stands for neutrality. It can look subdued, classic, serious, mysterious or mature.
Black: Black evokes a powerful, sophisticated, edgy, luxurious and modern feeling. (Ellis, 2017)

MAD HATTERS’ AFFAIR
Unfortunately I couldn’t find a whole lot on this festival apart from on this one website, but I thought some of their eco-friendly choices were unique and exciting compared to other festivals who all seem to do similar eco-friendly things (which is still amazing, but it’s nice to see other ways of becoming eco-friendly).
Mad Hatters’ Affair made its debut at the beginning of September 2019. Not only did all their profit go to charity, they also unequivocally banished single-use plastics from the festival site and powered the festival using renewable energy sources.
As well as amping up their own eco-credentials, Mad Hatters’ Affair also partnered with some great companies, including Sapling Spirits – a British-based vodka company which plants a tree for each bottle produced – and KarTent who, shocked at the great swathes of tents discarded at the end of festivals, have created the perfect solution: a recycled and recyclable cardboard tent. According to the clever chaps behind KarTent, this magical cardboard invention will withstand rain showers for a few days at least.
Additionally, this utterly fabulous festival also has a weird and wonderful line-up, featuring a great medley of tastes and genres. Reaching through the (quite normal) sounds of reggae, folk and funk, the musical offering then takes a dive down the rabbit hole with the slightly more unusual genre of ‘Witch music for animals. Animal music for witches. Familiar music for witches’ animals.’
Food vendors on site will be serving plant-based dishes but you are welcome to bring food and soft drinks with you to the campsite but not into the arena. Although they are a vegan festival, they will not be stopping you from bringing animal products into the campsite. (WOOTTON, 2019)

WILDERNESS FESTIVAL
Combining great music, delicious food, art, theatre and wellbeing with the great outdoors, the aptly-named Wilderness festival is a nature lover’s paradise. Here a long night spent dancing by the main stage, and diligently sampling every concoction the bar has to offer, can be cured the next day by a fresh woodland hike, spot of wild swimming or a good long soak in one of the half barrel hot tubs at the Lakeside Spa.
With nature playing such a big part at the festival, it’s good to know that their environmental policies are up to scratch too. Their policies include water refill stations, a cup deposit scheme, a ban on plastic straws, exclusively biodegradable eco-friendly glitter being used and sold on the site, and a series of campsite deposit stations – for ‘left-over’ tents, tarpaulins, sleeping bags etc. which will all go to Help Refugees. (WOOTTON, 2019)
For more information on how they are trying to be a sustainable/eco-friendly festival, I visited their main website for more details. From there I noticed that they are also doing very similar things to the Green Man Festival such as partnering with Red Fox Cycling, encouraging festival goers to use Go Car Share, and offering a National Service straight to the festival where they estimated that a 30% increase in audience coach travel can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 20%.
Something a little different I noticed about their missions page is that they also have a section dedicated to inform festival goers how to protect Cornbury Park as it is a Grade II listed park. They ask their audience to not use inflatables in the lake which they describe as the heart of their festival. To ensure there is no adverse impact from the festival, the lakes are monitored and tested throughout the year. They also ask you to not use toiletries in the lake and to please take a shower beforehand.
They also ask you to dust off your shoes when going to and from the forest, at the shoe brush station located at its entrance. This can minimise the spread of anything potentially harmful to the health of the parks trees, ensuring they continue to thrive. (Our Environmental Policy - Wilderness Festival 5th - 8th August 2021, n.d.)

GREEN MAN FESTIVAL
Although at this point I wasn’t 100% sure what I wanted my festival to entail, I knew I wanted it to be very green and eco friendly as my event would be taking place in a field and the last thing this planet needs is more plastic polution! I started to research what other festivals had done to become eco friendly and hopefully I would get some ideas/inspiration from there.
The Green Man Festival is an independent music and arts festival held annually in mid-August in the Brecon Beacons, Wales. Being green is fundamental to the Green Man festival, so here are some of the way the Green Man festival is ensuring it stays green.
Can’t take it home?
GM is teaming up with Help Refugees and Newport to Calais Aid Collective to collect unwanted, unbroken camping equipment and food that will go to refugees around the world. They will have drop off points in each campsite and near Family Box Office and General Box Office. They particularly would like: tents, sleeping bags, blankets, coats, food and boots. Some donations (particularly food) may also go to local charities.
Cups and plastic
Festival goers will need to purchase a reusable stacking cup, to drink at GM’s bars. They can carry up to 5 pints at once and you can take them home as a souvenir after the festival, any cups that are left over after this year, GM will wash, dry and store to re-use next year.
Reusable coffee cups will be available to buy from their Table Top Coffee stalls and the merchandise tent, or you can bring your own. There will be a 50p discount at their Table Top Coffee stalls if you have a reusable cup.
All food traders packaging and cutlery will be certifiable compostable.
And there will be no disposable plastics on sale across site this year.
Power
They use all sorts of alternative power sources at the festival. The solar stage is 100% solar powered and the Omni Tent and Workshop Dome in Einstein’s Garden are powered by a hydrogen fuel cell. Lots of activities in Little Folk and Somewhere are pedal powered and we also offer pedal powered phone charging.
Travel
As a new initative for 2020 Green Man is subisidising the price of National Express tickets by 15% (if bought as a package at the same time as your festival tickets). They have also teamed up with Red Fox Cycling to offer cycle trips to the festival, if you book these at the same time as your festival tickets they will give you a £10 discount.
Or you could take the train to Abergavenny (with a free shuttle-bus to get you to the festival), if you cycle to the festival we have a free lockable storage for bikes. If you do have to drive and have some spare seats, they encourage you to check out Go Car Share to carpool with people from your area.
Toilets
Natural Event will be providing compost loos at Green Man, reducing the use of water and energy needed to transport and treat waste produced. (Being Green - Green Man Festival, n.d.)

BRIGHTON COMIC CON AND GAMES FESTIVAL
Brighton Racecourse will be hosting Brighton Comic Con and Gaming Festival on July 3rd to July 4th, featuring a variety of heroes and villains from the most popular shows and books on the planet.
Moose Events run events as a small husband and wife team predominantly in the South West. After doing a successful first Comic Con event in oct 2017 they are now running more Comic Cons and gaming festivals in Somerset, Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, Surrey.
There will be something there for everyone as they promise: guest cosplayers, comic artists and some guests from film and tv, prop displays, viking throne, Harry Potter 9 3/4 set, Lightening McQueen Car, Jack and Sally props, Sons of Anarchy bike, Cyberjam gaming, gamers bus /Sega gaming area /Just Dance area /cyberjam gaming area, tabletop demos from Asmodee, Bat Cave and Bat light with costumers and much more. (Brighton Comic Con and Gaming Festival, n.d.)
Target Audience
The event is open for everyone to attend with ticket prices starting from £5 for 6-13 year olds and £9 for adults and those over the age of 14. I assume like most similar events, children under a certain age will have to be accompanied by an adult, but with the amount of things to do and see here, I’m sure there will be something to please all ages and audiences.
While I think their website as a whole is a little outdated and basic, there are definitely elements of the website that can be traced back to comic books, movies and games such as their logo and other buttons being surrounded by that classic comic book speech cloud and their staff dressing up in cosplay. These certain aspects make the website a little more interesting and unique to other launch pages, but I think the page as a whole would benefit from an update that would help to excite their visitors more.

INSOMNIA GAMING FESTIVAL
Insomnia Gaming Festival is a huge gaming event, uniting players for a weekend of gaming fun and interactive exhibitions all under one roof. The prestige event has something for every gamer, from Bring Your Own Computer playing hall to Retro Gaming stalls and even an exclusive first look at some of the greatest games coming out soon.
Insomnia is a festival made for gamers held at the NEC in Birmingham.
Target Audience
There is no minimum age to attend this event, however, children under the age of 6 must always be accompanied by an adult. There are also specific elements of the event that are only for over 18.
Insomnia Gaming Festival is a great place for you to do what we all love, play games. Top publishers often bring an exclusive first-play at the gaming event. It’s also the perfect chance for gamers to play with others in competitions like the Fortnite Tournament or enjoy some Indie games that you might not have thought about playing before.
What is there to see and do?
There is plenty of things to get involved with. There is a huge Expo Stage where you can find daily competitions taking place, special guests on stage for an event and industry expert panels. (Everything you need to know about Insomnia Gaming Festival, n.d.)
From Insomnia’s landing page, it appears that the colour palette is mainly blue, pink and red, and from the photos they feature on the home page, I would also say that purple is a key colour. The landing page also includes huge fonts (which appears to be Bebas Neue Regular) so that reader’s can easily find the page they are looking for or keep up to date with current news.
