I love how humans have literally not changed throughout history like the graffiti from Pompeii has people from hundreds of years ago writing stuff like “Marcus is gay” “I fucked a girl here” “Julius your mum wishes she was with me” and leonardo da vinci’s assistants drew dicks in their notebooks just for the banter and mozart created a piece called “kiss my ass” so when people wish for ‘today’s generation’ to be like ‘how people used to’ then we’re already there buddy we’ve always been

[Translation] 2017.12.25 THE FACT JAPAN interview with TRCNG
Source: http://www.thefactjp.com/article/read.php?sa_idx=25829
What is the story behind your group’s name TRCNG (Teens Rising Champion in New Generation)?
Taeseon: Our company gave us this name! It means “The Champions of the New Generation”
Were there any other group name candidates?
Taeseon: Earlier, our name was decided to be “TRC.” Then somehow changed into the current form (TRCNG)... I haven’t heard of any other candidate names lol
What kind of group is TRCNG?
Hohyeon: It is a passionate and charismatic group with members born in the 2000s that has the power of teens.
Please, introduce yourselves one by one.
Taeseon: Nice to meet you. My name is Taeseon. I’m the leader of this group. I will do my best!
Hohyeon: I’m Hohyeon. I’m in charge of rap in the group. Please take care of me.
Jihun: Nice to meet you. My name is Jihun. I’m a vocalist.
Jisung: I’m Jisung. I’m in charge of rap.
Kangmin: I’m Kangmin. I’m in charge of vocals. Please take care of me.
Hyunwoo: Nice to meet you. I’m Hyunwoo. I’m in charge of rap and dance.
Hakmin: My name is Hakmin. I’m in charge of vocals and dance.
Siwoo: I’m Siwoo. I’m in charge of rap in this group. Please take care of me.
Wooyeop: Nice to meet you. I’m Wooyeop. I’m in charge of vocals and dance.
Hayoung: I’m Hayoung. I’m in charge of main vocals and dance.
This is your first time coming to Japan for a release event. What are your impressions?
Hohyeon: We have been always active in Korea up till now, but when we met our Japanese fans and had High touch event with them and so on, we felt quite honored… it was a fresh feeling. We had a lot of fun. We do High touch in Korea as well, but we usually do it during fansigns, so that felt kind of refreshing.
Hayoung: The distance between us and the fans was quite small in the Japanese events, so it had different feelings from the events in Korea. Being closer to the fans like this, or so called intimacy… it really made me feel like we have a closer relationship.
How did you feel when you finally saw your Japanese fans who support you?
Hayoung: Some of them cried in front of me! I seriously didn’t know what should I do then… but I felt very honored. Even though we are still not that big yet, it was a pleasure! I will have to work harder and harder.
Hohyeon: It seemed that our Japanese fans have put a lot of effort into studying Korean language, their pronunciation of Korean was very cute lol. Their intonation was somewhat different but still it was cute.
What kind of things have they told you?
Hohyeon: They said things like ‘Saranghaeyo, choahaeyo, etc…’
Hakmin: Before we came to Japan, I’d always notice our Japanese fans’ comments on our fancafe. When we actually came to Japan, and finally got to meet our fans here, I was glad that they welcomed us well.
Please tell us what is your favorite Japanese food and what are your thoughts about Japan.
Taeseon: Alright. Let’s all say what we want to eat in Japan together. 1, 2…!!
Everyone: Sushi!!!
Haven’t you eaten Sushi yet?
Taeseon: No. We’ve had Sukiyaki and Shabu shabu!
Hayoung: *speaking Japanese* Sukiyaki, hontou ni oishii! (“Sukiyaki is really delicious”)
Jihun: I thought a lot about wanting to eat Sushi so my expectations of it are tremendously rising. But I wonder if we’ll be allowed to eat Sushi… lol.
After coming to Japan, what is your impression of it?
Siwoo: Yesterday, we rode a taxi, but I was surprised to see the Japanese taxi car has an automatic door. Also the driving side is opposite to that in Korea.
Kangmin: On the way to our hotel, I was able to see Tokyo tower, so I thought that I wanted to see more landmarks in Japan like that.
Hayoung: Japan’s driving side is on the left (opposite to Korea.) I kept feeling that we’re driving the wrong/opposite way lol.
Jihun: Ah! The other day, while we were in the taxi, there were mario karts driving beside us!
All: Ahhh! Right right!
Jihun: I found that really cute. It was funny but also strange~
Now, in your personal life, is there something you’ve been into (addicted to)?
Kangmin: I enjoy watching movies a lot! I want to recommend a movie called Cinema Paradiso!
Wooyeop: Shopping. Online.
All: LOL.
Wooyeop: I often browse clothes. And after that, shoes and stuff like that.
Hakmin: I’m same as Wooyeop, I have a big interest in fashion. We practice a looot of the time and we don’t have that much of freetime, so it’s really fun to just browse online.
Speaking of the internet, do you guys play games as well?
All: We do~~
Jihun: In our dorm back in Korea, there are like 4 people sharing the rooms in the first floor, then there are me and Wooyeop whose rooms are on the second floor, and we play games together, but recently the laptop that we play games with isn’t enough for any more games, so we’ve been thinking about buying a new laptop just to play games lol.
Is there something that the whole group is into recently?
Hyunwoo: … Sushi?? Lol.
All: Loll.
Hyunwoo: We’ve gone so crazy over Sushi in such a short time. We still haven’t tried eating the Japanese sushi, but we already ate Sushi back in Korea…. We’ve been wondering what kind Japan’s real Sushi would be, and like that, our expectations are growing higher.
Hayoung: Hakmin once ate Sushi for 10 days straight, and he’s also been researching about Japanese sushi, so he also has great expectations of it.
Then, by all means, do go and have sushi please! Well, then, about your debut song DON’T STOP THE DANCING, what kind of song is it?
Hayoung: We’ve debuted in Korea with the title song Spectrum, and it has the nuance of “boys who were born from the light.” So these boys who were born from the light in Spectrum, they’d go to the next step that is DON’T STOP THE DANCING in which they’d go up on the stage and express their tension and enthusiasm. Feelings like tension and excitement, all those kinds of feelings were made practical by being put into this song with that up-tempo kind of melody.
What kind of things are you preparing for your Japan’s debut?
Hyunwoo: We have plans to release DON’T STOP THE DANCING music video in the future, and we’ve put so much effort into learning the choreography for it. And now, when we will go back to Korea this time, we’re gonna study Japanese even harder and step up our level for the sake of the next time we’re coming to Japan, we’d like to make an effort to be able to communicate more with our fans.
Hayoung: I’ve been watching documentaries and checking blogs, news, etc, to learn more about Japanese culture.
Jisung: Since I’m trying to rap in the most Japanese way, I’ve been practicing my pronunciation real hard as much as I can!
About your debut in Japan, have your seniors, B.A.P, said anything to you?
Hayoung: They’re seniors who know well how much we’re nervous and shaking, so they often tell us stuff like “Do it as you always do it, without being nervous.” Beside that, they often come and see us while we’re practicing. They also gave us this advice, “Practicing is the only way to survive.”
Is there an artist you admire? What’s the reason?
Hakmin: B.A.P’s Jongup-sunbaenim. He’s especially cool when he’s on stage.
Siwoo: I like B.A.P-sunbaenim as well, especially Bang Yongguk-sunbaenim. He is a sunbae that we love and respect.
Hohyeon: Block B’s Zico-sunbaenim. I’ve always admired him and respected him ever since I was young. Ah! I’m still young though lol. I liked him since I was even younger than this.
Hayoung: Since I’m interested in vocalists, I’ve been admiring Bruno Mars and Michael Jackson. I’ve also been interested in Japanese music and after listening to a variety of singers, I’ve found Ken Hirai-san. I was really moved by the beauty of his songs too. The impression it left on me, it’s such an impression that even I cannot understand.
Kangmin: For me, it’s Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran. I love their songs!!!
What are your goals regarding your Japanese activities?
Hayoung: Definitely these 2 goals… Get no.1 ranking at the Oricon charts and hold a concert at Tokyo Dome! It is a dream we want to achieve.
Hohyeon: Our ambitions include ranking no.1 at the Oricons and holding concerts at Tokyo Dome and Budokan! Lol. It’s a big dream. Beside that, there is this one goal that we have, for example, walking down the streets in Japan and people around us would shout “Ah! It’s TRCNG!” something like that. (ie be easily recognised)
Lastly, a message to your Japanese fans.
Taeseon: We were given such a good opportunity and we will be debuting in Japan and this is just the start. The 10 of us will do our best so please show us a lot of interest!
Hohyeon: Seeing our Japanese fans was a huge honour and really fun. When we come to Japan next time, we will be showing you a cooler side to ourselves so please wait a little bit.
Jihun: Our Japanese activities will be starting from now on, so I’ve began to feel like I’m going back to being a newbie. I’m going to be putting in all my efforts to protect those feelings.
Jisung: Beside releasing DON’T STOP THE DANCING, I want to always continue our Japanese activities while showing everyone good music and a wonderful image to ourselves.
Kangmin: I want to show our fans a better image of us than now. Because I want to practice without taking time out for eating food! Lol.
Hyunwoo: First, thanks to our Japanese fans who loved us. When we will come next time, I will communicate with our fans in Japanese more. For our dream of holding a concert at Tokyo Dome, and ranking no.1 on the Oricon charts, we will keep improving more and more and make it happen!
Hakmin: I was really glad I could meet so many of our Japanese fans! And unfortunately, our Japanese is so basic so it was a bit difficult to communicate with them. We will work harder and harder towards the next time we come here!
Siwoo: We will surely work hard on our musical performances, but we will also do our best at studying Japanese to communicate with the fans better.
Wooyeop: I’ll try to check the Fancafe or the Fanclub site during my break or freetime. Not only our Korean fans, but I know that our Japanese watch over us (there) too, therefore, I will try my best to show everyone an improving side of ourselves.
Hayoung: I think everyone knows that we’re still young and in our teens, but I want to show you all that we are growing everyday. We’ll do our best passionately!
Thank you very much.
All: Thank you very much!! We’ll do our best!!!

[Translation] 180414 SHELBEE interview with TRCNG
Just now, when we brought in the Takoyaki, the way you got excited over it made me happy. Your stay in Japan this time was a bit longer, you must have already eaten various Japanese foods, right?
Taeseon: Udon!
Jisung: Ramen!
Hohyeon: Tonkatsu!
Jihun: Katsudon!
Kangmin: I’ve eaten Tonkotsu ramen for the first time! It was really delicious!
Hohyeon: Also, Takoyaki was delicious!
Hayoung: I’ve eaten Udon. I ordered ‘Gyuu shabu udon’ but the other members ordered some quite large dishes.
Jihun: Everyone asked for a second serving for the noodles, they couldn’t have enough of it lol. We also drank up all of our soup.
Hohyeon: I’ve had mine with Pollock roe and shrimp. ‘Mentai cream udon’ was really delicious!
You also went to Asakusa. We’ve seen that on your SNS.
Hayoung: The Sakura were extremely beautiful!!
Kangmin: Manekineko was cute!
Wooyeop: We all drew Omikuji (fortune slip) at Sensouji temple as well.
What did you get?
Hayoung: Jisung and Kangmin got “Excellent Luck”!
Hyunwoo: Mine was bad….
Your visit to Japan this time is for your event “Japan Debut Single Release Event”! You must have already had a lot of time to interact with your Japanese fans.
Hohyeon: We came in the end of March, then we came again a week later. I was very happy to meet our Japanese fans again.
Hayoung: We had lots of fun! *suddenly sneezes* Excuse me! I have hay fever lol. I was anxious all along before the start of the event. We’ve made a lot of efforts to show a good stage, and debut just like our debut back in Korea. I was glad that all of our fans welcomed us well!
You were also the opening act of ULTRA TEEN FES 2018.
Hohyeon: Siwoo and I walked on the runway wearing clothes by WEGO. It is a rare chance but it was quite fun.
Have you practiced walking on a runway before?
Hohyeon: No. Not at all.
Jihun: You practiced at home, didn’t you? Lol
Hohyeon: I did not~~~~ lol
Hayoung: We were watching them on the monitor while we were in our dressing room. They did pretty well.
If you had a similar chance next time, would any of the other members do it?
Everyone: Yes!!
Please tell us your thoughts of Spectrum Japanese version and what are the highlights of it.
Taeseon: Spectrum was already release in Korea, but we promised ourselves that we would try even harder and harder for the Japanese version with new feelings.
Hayoung: Unlike Korea, the Japanese version has 3 types of the CD. Each type is different from the other so you can enjoy all of them. Please, everyone, give us a lot of interest and love!
Have you had a hard time singing in Japanese?
Hayoung: Pronunciation of “tsu” was difficult.
Jisung: The melody is the same, but the lyrics have changed from Korean into Japanese, and the lyrics that matched our sound in the Korean version weren’t too few, they were a lot. I’m in charge of rap, so I guess it was a little more difficult for me than those in charge of vocals, because of the words’ nature in the rap parts as well as the pauses I’ve to make.
Hayoung: We were having a hard time too!!
Jisung: Aaa, is that so? Must be more difficult than what I thought… lol
Jihun: During my part of the song, the melody gets faster and faster, so at first I get stuck and stop singing. No matter how many times I re-do it, I keep getting stuck in the same part and have to re-record it… Now it sounds perfect.
Hayoung: Actually, Jihun’s part is difficult even in Korean.
Well, since it’s perfect now, can you perform for us here?
Jihun: I can. *singing* Kimi no shinjiru yami nante~~ ima haruka kanata mukou e~~
Perfect! I think even Japanese people would get stuck with this part, especially “ima haruka kanata mukou e.” Moreover, it seems that you guys are better at Japanese than our previous interview. You’ve been studying quite a lot, haven’t you?
Jihun: We really did our best!
Hayoung: I bought a book called “Learn Japanese in 30 days”! Even though it’s impossible to learn it in 30 days lmao. It is a hard language to master, but we’re learning it very hard everyday.
How do you study? Do you memorize by listening? Or do you memorize by writing?
Hayoung: I will show you a bit. *stands up*
Jihun: What what?
Hayoung: *walks towards the wall* Semi… Semi… Semi… *clings to the wall like a cicada* Semi… Like that. I memorize by my body. (note: semi is cicada in Japanese)
Everyone: Oooh~~
Does anyone else have a special memorizing technique like Hayoung?
Siwoo: I like Japanese anime, so I memorize some words that keep repeating in the anime. I really like Bleach and Naruto. For example, in Naruto, I learned “Kage bunshin no jutsu”? (note: means Shadow Clone Jutsu, which is a word we use everyday.)
Hohyeon: When we are in Korea, we try to talk to each other in Japanese only. Of course, we can talk in Korean too, but that’s only when we don’t know how to say it in Japanese or we use gestures to deliver what we wanna say, and that’s how we learn Japanese better.
In contrast, what do you recommend those who want to study Korean?
Hohyeon: You can learn a lot from dialogues in Korean dramas and movies.
Siwoo: How about listening to a lot of Korean songs? You’d have some sense of rhythm…
Everyone: Sense of rhythm!!!!!
Jihun: What the hell is ‘Sense of rhythm’! LOL
Siwoo: Learning Korean from songs, makes you stick faster to the language and you will be able to learn it better…
Taeseon: As expected from the rapper lol
Jihun: I’m kinda like Hayoung, but I have a Japanese friend who taught me some short Japanese sentences that I could memorize and use as they are. He taught me about 5 to 6 sentences and I wrote them down on my notebook and rewrote them. I said them out loud to myself many times, just like how Hayoung did. The first Japanese sentence I learned was ‘What is the wifi password?’ You know, verifying the wifi is very important lol.
I think that there are various things that have happened since your debut in Korea, please tell us TRCNG BEST 5 news.
Hayoung: Okay, I will start. No.5 is Kangmin’s became taller. He managed to escape from the ‘shortest’ position. Even now he’s still growing. The shortest one is Jisung now.
Jihun: Soon he will be as tall as leader!
Kangmin: Thank you! I will choose No.4. It must be Performing in Dream Concert. It was the stage with the biggest audience that we performed in so far and it was our first time to get so many huge cheers. I think this is a big news for us. There were also fireworks. It felt really good back then.
Hohyeon: For No.3 it must be Me and Siwoo Walking on the Runway in ULTRA TEENS FES.
Hakmin: No.2 is Becoming First place in a music show in 1 week after our Korean debut. It was unforgettable.
Taeseon: No.1 is Our Japanese debut! With that comes our stage in ULTRA TEENS FES, and all the experiences we had here are related to it.
-Members had to draw cards and those with the same card color were paired together and took pictures.-
Please tell us the good sides of each other and things you want them to fix.
<Hyunwoo & Jisung>
Hyunwoo: Jisung is quite knowledgeable since he reads a lot on a regular basis. He is good at writing and coming up with lyrics. He is good at writing in our fancafe as well. However, our dorm, we all stay up late playing games on our laptop, but among us who stay up late, no.1 member to sleep in until the afternoon is Jisung. It might be better to fix this thing… I guess?
Jisung: No.2 member to sleep in until the afternoon is Hyunwoo lol. Well, for Hyunwoo, he eats a LOT lol. I don’t eat as much as he does, but I think if I did eat like then from when I was younger, I would be taller by now. But well… Hyunwoo eats a lot but he’s not even that tall either loll. About the thing i want him to fix… I wish he quits his habit of biting his nails.
Hyunwoo: Jisung has the habit of putting his finger in his mouth lol. Ah, speaking about habits, we both have the habit of biting our lips’ skin. We both share the joy of doing it.
<Hayoung & Siwoo>
Siwoo: Hayoung-hyung is like TRCNG’s “Battery”! We are like an electronic device, and in order to operate, we need a battery. He’s the only member who’s full of such energy.
Hayoung: We are like… an electronic device…?
If Hayoung was in a bad mood, will everyone else be in a bad mood?
Siwoo: If there is something wrong with Hayoung, we will all feel uneasy.
Hayoung: This somehow makes me happy.
Siwoo: Since he’s full of energy just like that, he’s good at singing as well. Especially his high notes, he’s wonderful. But sometimes… he never reads the atmosphere so he would all of a sudden speak loudly. He wouldn’t care, even if we were talking about a serious topic… err…
Jihun: Siwoo lol. We have an expression to that, we often use it. You can say it!
Siwoo: He is a little… noisy I guess….
Jihun: Yes, that!! lol
Hayoung: I see. I see. Thank you soo much guys! Lol. For Siwoo, he is a really good kid. He has a kind heart. I always want to take care of him. On the other hand, the thing I want him to fix is… Whenever I’m about to sleep, he starts doing abs exercise next to me. I wondered why’d he do it all of a sudden, but why the hell does he do it on bed!!! LOL. Also, his habit of talking during his sleep is a little bad. He often speaks in Russian when he’s asleep. I usually don’t realize that he’s sleeping so I respond to him quite a lot. Once it got really bad, he spoke in 5 languages in his sleep.
Siwoo: Normally, I can’t even convey what I wanna say in Korean smoothly, so I’ll say I have 0 languages. But I still can convey it in my sleep lol.
<Kangmin & Hakmin>
Wooyeop: Min and Min!
Kangmin: Hakmin-hyung’s dance skills are so great, it’s something to be proud of. He also dresses up quite fashionably. But something I’m a little worried about, I just recently saw it but, whenever Hakmin is playing games, he puts on a grim face. It’s strange to see something like that, it’s funny even. Lol. I don’t mean that I want him to fix it, it just it’d be better if he didn’t have such a thing.
Hakmin: I don’t like playing games that much, but whenever I have a lot of freetime, I play sometimes. And that’s when Kangmin saw me. I know I’m not used to playing games so I often make mistakes and end up with errors… Kangmin is the most adorable one among us. I guess he is one of the main reasons why TRCNG became well-known. I think he was also the most suitable member for the concept of our recent comeback WOLF BABY. Even though he is the youngest, his way of thinking is mature.
Jihun: Hm~~?
Hakmin: He’s better than what he looks like! He’s got room for growth, he’s calm and he’s a child who behaves well. There is nothing that I want him to fix. He’s perfect. Perfect.
<Hohyeon & Jihun>
Hohyeon: Jihun-hyung often moves in a funny way when we are in the dressing room. It’s soo funny; he is able to to lift up the atmosphere.
Jihun: I must be the “extra battery” lol.
Everyone: Extra battery!!!
Hohyeon: The funny moves I’m talking about, they’re things like Michael Jackson impressions etc… these are very funny lol!
Hayoung: I once saw Jihun talking to himself for about 10 minutes….
Jihun: Me? What??
Taeseon: That’s too much!
Jihun: There is no way it was for 10 minutes~. Do I seriously have this kind of image? I guess I should talk with everyone a little bit more lol. Hohyeon is cool, he’s good at cooking, good at rapping, he’s a man with all 3 points present. Recently, he has been cooking for us when we are exhausted. My bedroom is in the 2nd floor, but whenever there is a good smell of food, I go down, and ask him “Can I eat?” I think he has a lot of talent.
What is Hohyeon’s best dish?
Hohyeon: The pasta that I often make.
Jihun: His pasta is so delicious! His cream pasta is really yummy!
<Taeseon & Wooyeop>
Taeseon: Wooyeop likes being clean and tidy and organizes things neatly. He has the heart of a lovely child, and even if we do weird stuff, he accepts it without getting sulky. The thing I want to fix in Wooyeop… Although Wooyeop is originally from Korea, he sometimes talks in a strong intonation that’s unique to our local dialect, and there are things we cannot catch from what he says. I’m sorry but it’s funny sometimes and even makes me laugh. I hope you fix that…
Wooyeop: *sigh* It still hasn’t even been 3 years since I came to Seoul to become an idol. It’s difficult to fix that perfectly. For Taeseon, he behaves quite calmly, and his advantage is that he can make a good decision at any given time. He doesn’t have any disadvantages. I like everything about him except when he was teasing me just a while ago lol.
Thank you for sharing a lot of stories with us! At the end, please give a message to SHELBEE readers.
Taeseon: We will try to get more and more close to the fans while we are showing our growing process. Also, I hope we can meet all of our fans around the country. We will be doing our best so please take care of us!
Everyone: Please take care of us!

Source: https://shelbee.co/kpop/2017/12/22/trcng_interview/
You have debuted both in Korea and Japan simultaneously. Please tell us your current feelings.
Hayoung: We’ve always been trainees, so it’s refreshing for us to actually debut like this and stand on a stage day after day, really fills us up with excitement. We will be working very hard from now on!
Wooyeop: We’ve just made our debut but somehow we are still lacking in so many aspects. Although we are nervous about our simultaneous debut in Japan, we have to work much harder than the amount of our nervousness.
Jisung: Debuting in Korea alone felt like a dream, but when we had the chance to debut in Japan, which is something we’ve also longed for….. I still can’t believe that we are in Japan at this moment.
What has originally inspired you to become an idol?
Hayoung: I liked standing on stage from when I was young, so I naturally started aiming at this goal.
Wooyeop: I was influenced by my mother but I also like performing in front of people.
Kangmin: I guess my motive was that I loved going to Karaoke
Hakmin: Me too! I love singing and dancing
Hyunwoo: I love rapping and dancing, and standing on stage really makes me happy
Siwoo: I love music, and I wanted to stand in front of so many people
Jisung: When I saw BIGBANG’s GD-sunbaenim, I thought he was cool, so from then on my dream has been becoming an artist.
Taeseon: I’ve wanted to perform in a fully seated Tokyo Dome lol
Jihun: When I was in middle school, I thought that BTS and EXO were cool upon watching them.
Hohyeon: I wanted to stand on my stage and perform with my own lyrics
All of you had this kind of thoughts and you all were able to finally debut, but do you have any events that made you realize you actually debuted?
Jisung: I think everyone will understand this. Before our debut, we were like normal trainees, but after we debuted, we suddenly started having fans and people who support us.
Everyone: *nods in agreement*
Wooyeop: That’s true in the official aspect, but regarding personal changes within us as a group, we used to order the same thing from the menu whenever we go eat. But right now, after we debuted, each one of us can order whatever they like from the menu, am I not right? Lol
Everyone: Ahh~ That’s true lol
You have already had your first performance in front of the Japanese fans.
Taeseon: As soon as we’ve entered the venue, we were hit by loud cheers. I was really surprised that the fans were talking to us in Korean and at the same time filled me up with gratitude. We want to learn Japanese quickly so we can communicate with our fans better!
Please tell us the highlights of your Japanese debut song ‘Don’t Stop the Dancing’ which you also performed at the event
Wooyeop: Our Japanese debut song ‘Don’t Stop the Dancing’ has a Michael Jackson concept. It has a slightly lighter image than our Korean debut song ‘Spectrum.’ Just as the song’s title -don’t stop dancing- there are many dance moves along with a catchy rhythm. The highlight is the part where we all do the moonwalk.
Hayoung: And in terms of the song itself, it is a song that our fans can sing along with us because it’s easy to remember. I will be so happy if we could sing it together!
Since you’ve just made your debut, what is the appeal point in TRCNG that you’d tell people who still don’t know about you?
Hyunwoo: TRCNG is the only idol group in Korea in which all the members are teenagers. We want to express the feelings of teenagers as long as we can (since we are teenagers). I believe that dancing and singing can bring in feelings of closeness with our fans. And above all, we are a group that has potential and room for even more growth. I’m confident enough to say that we are more energetic compared to other groups.
Then, what would be the appeal of each member of you?
Hayoung: I have confidence in being full of strength! I have done a variety of sports up till now. The proof to this is that I’ve been the school representative in soccer, rugby, and handball.
Wooyeop: I’m often smiling so I guess this strengthens the bond between me and the other person.
Siwoo: Since I’m one of the youngest members here, I think that makes me more pure than others lol
Hakmin: As for me, I’m crispy from the outside but I’m soft from the inside. Even though I look like a cold person, I’m in fact warm. I have that kind of “Chicken” charm!
Hyunwoo: We have so many cute members in our group, but I’m terrible at acting cutely (ie pleasing everyone). My voice is low and… I think I’m masculine.
Kangmin: I’m the youngest so I think my appeal is being fresh.
Jihun: Same as Hyunwoo, I’m bad at acting cutely so I’m rather masculine. Among our group, I’m responsible for cheering up the nervous members before our performances. Whenever I take the initiative to speak, the mood would be lifted naturally.
Jisung: I like writing so I’m interested in writing lyrics.
Hohyeon: I’m same as Kangmin. Being the maknae, I have a refreshing appeal too. I will show a bit of my charisma on stage lol.
Taeseon: Jihun is in charge of lifting up the mood before our performances. On the other hand, I’m in charge of calming the mood down.
Speaking about idol groups in Korea, it’s a common knowledge that they live together in a dorm. I’ve heard that you live together too. Please tell us your duties regarding the accommodation.
Taeseon: In our case, the duties of the members change every month. For now, I’m in charge of cleaning the bathroom. We have two bathrooms, and I’m in charge of cleaning the bigger bathroom.
Hohyeon: I’m in charge of clearing the table after eating food, taking care of the fridge and cleaning it.
Jihun: I guess that’s the most difficult role. I’m in charge of cleaning the smaller bathroom. It’s easy lol.
Jisung: I help Hohyeon. When he has it hard, I go and help him.
Hohyeon*: I’m in charge of the living room. Like wiping the table, cleaning the shoe shelves etc. The living room is large so there are 4 people in charge of it. There is me… (*note: this could be a mistake by the website because even after I contacted them, they didn’t know whether this line was said by Hohyeon or Hakmin since they’ve lost their original data, but I’m guessing it’s Hakmin)
Hyunwoo: And me
Kangmin: And me
Hayoung: And me
Siwoo: I’m in charge of cleaning the stairs and the laundry room.
Wooyeop: The kitchen… I wash the dishes when they accumulate.
Why is taking care of the fridge is the most difficult to do?
Jihun: Because there are 10 people who have food in this fridge. There is too much food so you have to manage it carefully, because it might get expired etc. If you don’t do that, it will be a mess. Well, usually when we find leftovers in the fridge, we’d call “Kangmin~~” He’s the first one to suspect.
Hyunwoo: He once put a spoon inside the fridge lol
I am sure your actual activities in Japan will start from next year, but please tell us what are your goals in 2018.
Jisung: I hope that next year we will win rookie of the year award.
Hakmin: That’s our goal as a team! Our seniors B.A.P.-sunbaenim have won a rookie of the year award before, so we want to follow them and do the same.
Hohyeon: We want to get No.1 on music shows too!
Taeseon: Then we want to increase our popularity in Japan!
Kangmin: That’s why I want us to appear on Japanese TV shows. The other day, I was watching Japanese TV in the hotel, and ever since I was very young, I’ve always thought that Japanese TV shows are funny. There were so many fun shows. I would love to enjoy having our own corners in such shows~
Wooyeop: Last night, Japan’s cityscape was really beautiful when I watched it from the Taxi’s window. And so during that time, I was thinking about us trying to perform in such a cityscape. Something like an outdoor event?
At the end, please leave a message!
Hayoung: Since TRCNG is a young group, we have an infinite potential, so please watch over our enthusiasm, ambition, and energy. We will be working harder!
Wooyeop: We will be showing you only the good side of us. Please take care of us!
Kangmin: Everyone, please love us, forever.
Hakmin: We will always love you! I will study Japanese even harder, and make enough effort in order to talk with everyone much more.
Hyunwoo: Thank you so so much for loving us, really. Let’s stay together for a long time from now on. We will show you a lot of our growing selves.
Siwoo: Although we haven’t shown people much of us, still thank you for the love you gave us. I will do my best in Japanese so I can talk with our fans here!
Jihun: Thank you for supporting us a lot. Fighting!
Hohyeon: Everyone, I seriously love you.
Taeseon: As 10 members, we want to show you various sides of us, with our passion and energy. We will be very happy if you kept watching over us from now on. Please give us lots of love!
Everyone: We will be in your care!

[Translation] 2017.12.22 Anan WEB Interview with TRCNG
Source: https://ananweb.jp/column/kpop/148274/
Question to Jihun: What is your favorite Japanese entertainment?
Jihun: I like Japanese anime such as “Kimi no namae wa”, “Toki wo kakeru shoujo”, “Spirited Away” and many more.
How was your first release event that was held on December, 2nd?
Hohyeon: It was our pleasure that our fans have learned some Korean just to be able to speak to us. Their pronunciation and accent were really cute!
Siwoo: When were doing the High touch event, I was a bit nervous to say “Daisuki” to the fans.
Kangmin: Whenever I lurk on other Kpop idols’ websites, I often find comments from Japanese fans too so I was always envious of them. Therefore, although I’ve decided to memorize a lot of Japanese in order to show a good side of us to the Japanese fans, I still didn’t have that much time so I couldn’t put all of my effort into it….
Hyunwoo: I’ve wanted to interact with our Japanese more, but my Japanese is still pretty poor and all I could say were things like “Arigatou Gozaimasu” and “Aishitemasu” so I kind of regret it. I have to study Japanese more than what I’ve already learned.
Question to Hayoung: What is your favorite Japanese entertainment?
Hayoung: I like Classic J-POP. Especially Kobukuro’s “Tsubomi” and Ken Hirai’s “Hitomi wo tojite.”
What exactly is TRCNG’s strength?
Taeseon: Well, since all of our members were born in the years between 2000 and 2001, we are all full of energy and passion. There are 10 members in our group, so I think that when all of our energies come together, they give off one tremendous power.
Question to Taeseon: What is your favorite Japanese entertainment?
Taeseon: I’m interested in Japanese fashion, and I’m often checking it out
Question to Hakmin: What is your favorite Japanese entertainment?
Hakmin: The movie “Spirited Away.” I love it so much; I’ve watched it more than 10 times!
You have a lot of members in your group, so do you experience any troubles regarding that?
Hayoung: Food costs lol. We usually eat a lot….
For your Japanese debut, have you received any piece of advice from your sunbaenims in your agency?
Wooyeop: B.A.P’s Himchan-sunbaenim have given us a lot of advice about learning Japanese. He said that it’s alright to be nervous since it’s our first time, and told us to eat a lot of delicious food and to just do our best.
Question to Wooyeop: What is your favorite Japanese entertainment?
Wooyeop: “Sekai ni hitotsu dake no hana” by SMAP and “Tsubomi” by Kobukuro. I used them to practice singing in Japanese.
Question to Jisung: What is your favorite Japanese entertainment?
Jisung: The anime “Kimi no namae wa.” I also love watching movies, reading books and manga, and collecting posters as well!
Please tell us your roles in the group and what is the things you’re best at!
Hayoung: I’m in charge of delivering energy. I’m stubborn and I have physical strength as well. I have the thickest thighs among the members and I’m also the fastest! I run 50m in 5.5 seconds!
Jihun: Wow. That’s pretty fast. I’m good at running too but not as good as that.
Taeseon: I’m the leader of the group. I’m quite familiar to this role and used to it because I’ve always been a team leader and a class representative from elementary school up til middle school. The thing I’m best at is having a balance between my height and whole body.
Jihun: I’m the co-leader of this group, and the thing I’m best at is… Uh I wonder what it is?
Hayoung: Is it not acting? Jihun has experiences as a child actor, so his acting is pretty good.
Jihun: Then, let it be acting lol. I really like acting. Actually I’d love to continue acting if I had any opportunities.
Hakmin: I’m in charge of being stylish. I think that I’m the most enthusiastic about fashion among my members. My favourite brands are OFF-WHITE, Supreme, and A BATHING APE. I might also be the member who speaks to himself the most lol.
Jisung: I don’t think I can brag about this but I’m the most member who always comes late lol. My younger members always try to wake me up saying “Hyung! Wake up! Hurry!” And even if I wake up early, I take a very long time to get ready. I guess after all I’m the slowest member. Also, I’m the member who reads the most! I usually like to read poetry collections.
Wooyeop: I actually don’t understand why but my members often call me their mother. Perhaps they mean it in the sense that I take care of them well. Do I fit in this role?
Jisung: Yes! You seem like a mother!
Wooyeop: Besides, I’m the most shy and the most timid member lol.
Hyunwoo: I have the charm of being the member with a deep voice, and in Korean language, we call that ‘Sang Namja’ so I’m in charge of that kind of role lol.
Hohyeon: Since I’m an MC for a music show, I’m in charge of MC in this group. I’m also the best at cooking. Moreover, ever since Taeseon taught me some sexy dances, I’ve been called sexy for some reason lol.
Siwoo: I’m the best at telling jokes, so I’m in charge of lifting the mood. Actually, there are times when my joke makes everyone laugh hard, but other times, when I tell a joke, the whole place just goes silent
Hyunwoo: Really, there is a steep difference lol
Kangmin: In the future, I’d like to be the one in charge of speaking Japanese. Right now, I’m trying my best to study Japanese better than anyone else. Only recently have I learned this… (speaking in Japanese, with perfect pronunciation) My favorite singer is Justin Bieber.
Question to Hyunwoo: What is your favorite Japanese entertainment?
Hyunwoo: I like “ONE PIECE,” “Naruto,” “Doraemon,” and “Crayon-chan.” I really like Japanese anime.
Question to Siwoo: What is your favorite Japanese entertainment?
Siwoo: I like “ONE PIECE,” “Naruto,” “Bleach.” I do love anime and I often watch it.
Apart from Kangmin (who has already been to Japan before), it seems that it’s everyone’s time coming to Japan and you were surprised by it! How exactly?
Taeseon: The city is so beautiful, there is no single piece of trash anywhere! I’ve heard about this before, but really it was beyond my imagination!
Hayoung: I was surprised by how similar it is the anime that I’ve been watching since I was young.
Jisung: I really loved “Kimi no namae wa” so much, so I’ve always wanted to go to Japan. To be honest, when I was walking around the city here, I felt as if I was surrounded by pictures. I have to burn this beautiful scenery into my memory and then go back home!
Jihun: It really felt like we are watching an anime in high resolution
Hakmin: I’ve actually thought about living in Japan because it’s too beautiful.
Hyunwoo: I’ve already imagined how Japan would look like after watching anime, however, when I saw it in real life, I think I’ve said “Wow” around 100 times lmao
Hayoung: I was also surprised that they have the steering wheel on opposite side; different from Korea.
Kangmin: I was also happy to see the scrambling intersection in Shibuya in person after watching it many times in movies.
Hayoung: Also, there was a Mario Kart running down the road! What was that? That was so funny!!
Kangmin: I was surprised to see the Taxi door opens automatically!
Jihun: I know, right? The Taxi drivers are dressed in a formal uniform too. I honestly felt like I was an important person lmao
Wooyeop: Besides, all the food here is so delicious! Yesterday, we felt a bit tired so when we went to have Shabu Shabu and Sukiyaki, they were very tasty and the tiredness disappeared all at once!
Siwoo: I was impressed at how the mirrors in the hotel are not cloudy not even a bit
Question to Hohyeon: What is your favorite Japanese entertainment?
Hohyeon: I like “ONE PIECE,” “Naruto,” and “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.” But the most striking anime I’ve seen in all my life is “Kimi no namae wa.”
Question to Kangmin: What is your favorite Japanese entertainment?
Kangmin: I really like the actor Shota Sometani who appeared in the movie “Parasyte.”
Now, what would you like to eat in Japan, where would you like to go, what would you like to do?
Hayoung: The thing we want to eat is… 1, 2…
Everyone: Sushi!!!
Jihun: I heard that Japanese sushi tastes completely different from Korean sushi
Hayoung: The Shabu shabu and Sukiyaki we had yesterday were extremely delicious so I’m hoping it’s the same for Sushi!
Hohyeon: I want to try eat Gyuukatsu
Jisung: I’d love to go to Shinjuku which appeared in “Kimi no namae wa.” I wish to go around the place where the anime’s story was set.
Wooyeop: I want to go to Disneyland
Hyunwoo: Onsens are nice too
Kangmin: And Tokyo Tower too!
Siwoo: For me, I want to go to Games centers here in Japan
Wooyeop: But most of all, the goal we want to achieve here in Japan is to stand on Tokyo Dome stage
Hyunwoo: We have to do our best so we can fill up the seats in Tokyo Dome!!

Source Part1: https://jisin.jp/international/knews/1627756/
Source Part2: https://jisin.jp/international/knews/1627755/
PART ONE
Please tell us how was your release event on December, 2nd.
Taeseon: It was the first time that we come to Japan, and actually meet our Japanese fans in person. To begin with, our Japanese fans spoke Korean very well, it really surprised me at first. Then, their reaction to us itself was huge, made me surprised once again.
This is our first time to meet. Please tell us your hobbies and special skills.
Taeseon: My hobby is reading fan letters. Recently though, I’ve been more into listening to Japanese music. We actually have been practicing to sing Ken Hirai’s and SMAP’s songs.
*Taeseon and Jihun start singing Acapella version of “Sekai ni hitotsu dake no hana” by SMAP*
Hohyeon: My special skill is writing lyrics. Both me and Jisung took part in writing lyrics for our debut album.
Jihun: My hobby is riding a bicycle. My special skills are acting and playing violin. The first time I held a violin was when I was 5 years old. I started taking it seriously afterwards because I was part of the orchestra during elementary school. And fr acting, I started appearing in dramas as a child actor when I was 12 years old.
Jisung: My hobby is watching movies. I love reading books as well. My special skill is rapping, and actually I was in charge of writing the rap parts for our songs, each single one of then.
Kangmin: (Speaking Japanese) My hobby is riding a bicycle. My special skill is singing.
Hyunwoo: I think my special skill is arm wrestling, I’m also the strongest one in it among our members. Besides, I don’t really practice it but… I like watching Boxing matches.
Hakmin: I’m interested in fashion. A few days ago, my parents had their birthdays, I’ve brought them 2 coats as a present.
Siwoo: My hobby is watching Anime. I like watching Japanese Anime too, like Naruto and Bleach. My special skill is speaking Russian. I’ve lived in Kyrgyzstan for 7 years. To be honest, I’ve forgotten so many words over time, but if I have to choose a special skill, this will do lol.
Wooyeop: I don’t have a lot of time these days, but I think my hobby is watching dramas. Actually, I love to go fishing in the sea. I’d love to do it if I had the time. My special skill is Taekwondo.
Hayoung: My hobby is a special skill at the same time. It is playing football. I’ve loved it ever since I started playing it when I was 5 years old, and I kept playing it because I have a strong wellbeing.
This is your first time coming to Japan, but is there any places that wanted to go to here in Japan?
Siwoo: I wanted to check out Japanese game centers.
Wooyeop: I wanted to go to Disneyland!
Hyunwoo: Onsens. We want to go there all 10 members together.
Jihun: When I was in high school, I had a Japanese friend who lives in Nagoya right now. So I’d love to go to Nagoya once because I’m interested to see what kind of place is it.
What are your impressions of Tokyo?
Jihun: Although it’s kind of similar to Seoul, I feel like it’s clean everywhere, and there’s a beautiful scenery whenever you look. And the way the cityscape was created; I felt that it looked more like a miniature.
Hyunwoo: I’ve watched Tokyo’s cityscape before on TV, but when I saw it with my own eyes now, it was really impressive. It would be lovely to go on a walk with my members because the cityscape atmosphere is very nice.
You have made your debut in Korea back in October. Please tell us what kind of lessons have you had before then.
Taeseon: The member with the longest trainee period is Jisung.
Jisung: It was for 6 to 7 years. Right now I’m 18 years old (Korean age), which means I became a trainee when I was in elementary school. When my debut was decided, I couldn’t believe it at all, it was like a dream. Even after I debuted, I still say “This is not a dream?!!” I couldn’t realize it.
Which members have had the shortest trainee period?
Hohyeon: Siwoo and Wooyeop. It was for about a year.
How did you feel about being able to debut in one year?
Wooyeop: Honestly, being in the same group as other members who have been trainees much longer than I have, made me feel like I was still lacking. Therefore, I thought to myself that I should put all my efforts in it.
But! At yesterday’s event, you were chosen to be the best one at dancing and you were named the “Dance Champion.” Have you been to a dance school before you become a trainee?
Wooyeop: My mother is originally a professional dancer, and there were also times where she was the leader of her dance troupe. So, that’s how I happened to learn dancing too. I really liked it so I started learning it by myself, then I set a goal to be an idol.
Additionally, it was decided for you all to enter the Japanese industry at the same time, what were your thoughts then?
Taeseon: We were like “Whaaaat!!” Lol. We were really surprised, we couldn’t believe it.
Your activities after your debut must be impressive, but was there any even in specific that left a big impact?
Siwoo: Yesterday’s high touch event left a huge impact on me.
Taeseon: Some fans came to see us while they were crying.
Jihun: I guess that left a huge impact on all of us. There were indeed many fans who were crying. I heard that Japanese fans are usually more adult-like than the Korean fans, but at yesterday’s event, I realized it was the opposite. They were cheering on us very loudly, they seemed to be so excited. Although I felt grateful, I was still surprised, it was amazing; beyond our expectations.
What should we look forward to while listening to Don’t Stop The Dancing?
Hayoung: The repetitive and addictive melody. There are also some lines that continuously get repeated so it makes you hum the song naturally. It’s a song that anyone can sing along with it right away, so please sing it with us during performances.
How was it like to record a song in Japanese?
Kangmin: It was difficult because there is a big difference between Japanese and Korean pronunciation, but anyhow, that was something that we needed to overcome so we studied harder. The English lyrics were difficult as well. It took me a while to master the way of pronunciation. To be honest, when I pronounce the words, I muffle my voice; I almost sound as if I killed my voice itself, and even though I do say the words, there is barely any sound that comes out. (I don’t know if anyone understands this because I don’t know what Kangmin means.)
For those who are in charge of rap, was rapping in Japanese hard?
Hohyeon: It was! But still, I had to practice it a lot, and we also had some people who guided us through our Japanese, so we were able to record it flawlessly.
What are your goals and dreams for your activities in Japan?
Siwoo: I want us to take 1st place on the oricon charts and I want us to perform in a fully seated Tokyo Dome.
Tokyo Dome has 50,000 seats.
Hyunwoo: We want to achieve that for sure!
PART TWO
Alright. Now we would like to play a Pointing Feeling Game with you. I will ask “Who is the best at X” and you are going to point at them. First, who is the best one at Japanese?
Everyone: 1, 2, 3, Kangmin!!
Kangmin, how do you study Japanese?
Kangmin: I don’t think it’s much different from the other members, but maybe because I like to study from books. At yesterday's handshake event, I got to interact with our Japanese fans using Japanese. I think that we should be communicating with them in a way that we understand each other.
Alright. Who is the most member who can’t stand being lonely?
Everyone: 1, 2, 3, Hayoung!! Siwoo!! (They were both chosen)
Why do you think that Siwoo can’t stand being alone?
Jihun: He really hates being alone or going somewhere all alone.
Siwoo: Ever since I was young, I’ve always felt the need to be with someone. Since I’ve always had someone around me, that way I wouldn’t have to go home alone.
Member: How cute!
Who do you share your room with, Siwoo?
Siwoo: I share the same room with Hayoung, Jisung, and Hyunwoo.
Hayoung: Even when we should be sleeping, he will never stop talking to us.
Both Siwoo and Hayoung don’t like being lonely, yet, they share the same room.
Hayoung: I might be a person who dislike being alone, but I’m of a different type from Siwoo. For instance, if Siwoo was all by himself, he will start feeling lonely. But for me, if I had nobody by my side, I will start feeling lonely. That’s the difference. I’ve been doing exercise for quite a long time, so I knew exactly the importance of teamwork ever since I was young. I’d always shout “Guys! Let’s do it all together!” I have the skills to gather people around lol.
Who has the most secrets?
Everyone: 1, 2, 3, Siwoo! Wooyeop! (Both were chosen)
Taeseon: About Wooyeop, there are many things that I’ve heard about him later on.
Wooyeop: Actually I get shy around strangers.
Everyone: Are you still shy around us after 1.5 years?!
Wooyeop: I’m only a little shy now, and to be honest, I still feel awkward around some members too.
Everyone: Whaat?!!
Jihun: Like he doesn’t normally express his true opinions. So since he doesn’t express his opinions, he doesn’t easily show his angry side.
Wooyeop: Yeah, it’s a misunderstanding.
On the other hand, which member’s emotions quickly appear on his face?
Taeseon: That means when the person is happy, he will show a very happy face.
Everyone: 1, 2, 3, Hayoung!
Hyunwoo: If I looked at him for one moment, I can tell what he’s exactly feeling like. And whenever Hayoung’s tension goes up, he always transmits it to us lol.
Does that make him the noisiest member?
Everyone: He’s the noisiest!!
Who is the member who eats the most?
Everyone: 1, 2, 3 Hyunwoo!
Hyunwoo: I eat about 5 meals a day. I’m guessing my stomach is bigger than average people lol. If we are having grilled meat, I usually have 3 servings. I also eat rice along with it. From there, I eat another meal once again. I’m the type who feels happy when I eat.
Wooyeop: It must be hard to pay his food bill lol
Who is the member who has the tidies bedroom?
Everyone: 1, 2, 3, Taeseon!! Jihun!! (Taeseon actually pointed at himself)
And in contrast, who has the messiest bedroom?
Taeseon: It’s Kangmin!! Kangmin!! No.1!! LOL
Kangmin: Nah. It looks tidy to me.
Everyone: No way! He is lying!
Who is the best member at cooking?
Everyone: 1, 2, 3, Hohyeon.
Hohyeon: I’m good at making Italian food. I often like to make Risotto and Pasta. I already love Pasta, so I thought about starting to make it for myself. I learned it from a Recipes book and everytime I make it, I just get better and better at it.
Has everyone eaten the Pasta that Hohyeon makes?
Everyone: Not yet. We haven’t tried his Pasta.
Jihun: When he first joined us in the dorm, he made us Fried rice. Ever since then, he has been the one to cook for us.
Who is the member whose dancing and singing skills have improved the most?
Everyone: 1, 2, 3, Hohyeon!
Hohyeon: My trainee period was so short, and when I first joined the agency, there was a huge difference between my skills and my hyungs. So I started to put much more efforts in order to keep up with them. I think that my MC skills have improved as well.
Who is the most stylish member?
Everyone: 1, 2, 3, Hakmin!!
Are you interested in Japanese fashion brands?
Hakmin: Of course.
Who is the member with the best reflexes?
Everyone: 1, 2, 3, Hayoung!!
Hayoung: Before I became a trainee, I used to play basketball, hockey, handball, rugby, and others. I was actually chosen as the school representative for most of these.
Finally, a message to the fans from the leader.
Taeseon: Since we are still young, I’m positive that we can show many different things from now on. I would like everyone to watch over our development process. And I hope that our fans with stay with us for a long, long time.

Everyone in this group was born between the years 2000 and 2001, so what kind of charm does your group possess?
Taeseon: All of our members are teenagers, therefore our group is full of enthusiasm. We are confident in our energy alone.
You’ve just made your debut in Korea in October 10th, so how was your debut event there? Hayoung: We were extremely nervous during our first stage. There were some things that we feel regretful about, but we have talked with each other about them and told each other to do the best we can in order to deliver a better stage from then on; we are still growing.
Hyunwoo: When I was a trainee, I used to dream about my debut. So even though we were flawed in some instances, I was really happy that we stood on the stage, it was like a 2-month long dream. I’m going to work harder to show you our development process.
Hohyeon: We had so much fun when we appeared on the music shows. Because we were having lots of fun, I felt like the time flew by so quickly; I kind of didn’t want us to leave yet. For now though, our activities in Japan are going to start, so I’d do the best I can to fill in that feeling of reluctance.
You had the chance to meet a lot of your seniors during those music shows.
Hayoung: I’ve met GOT7, BTOB, Block B, when they were trainees and used to cover songs. Our ranking was different back then.
When I watched your breathtaking performances, I could feel that you’ve had a substantial amount of practice. But, for how long have you been trainees?
Hohyeon: It differs from one member to the other. But the members who’ve been trainees the longest are… *Jisung and Hyunwoo raised their hands*. When B.A.P were trainees, they used to practice with them.
Jisung: That means, I’ve been a trainee for over 5 years.
Hayoung: And the shortest period, was me and Wooyeop. We have been trainees for 1.5 years before we debuted.
Have your seniors, B.A.P., given you any piece of advice for your Japanese activities?
Hayoung: First, they told us “Don’t be nervous.” They knew that we were being so nervous so they said “It’s okay if you just do what you usually do.” They also gave us some advice to help us study Japanese. Therefore, we’ll do our best to learn the language!
Hohyeon: I was able to be an MC of “THE SHOW” along with B.A.P.’s Youngjae-sunbaenim. Since that was my first time (to be MC), I was very inexperienced. But, Youngjae-sunbaenim worried about me too, so he taught me so many things and let me follow him along, I’m really grateful to him.
Have you gone and eaten out with B.A.P.?
Hakmin: Yes.
Hyunwoo: Ever since we were trainees, they often treat us to meals.
Wooyeop: When we were filming Spectrum MV, B.A.P. took the trouble to come all the way to the shooting location, brought us a lot of Chicken and Pizza and cheered on us.
There are so many members in TRCNG, and because you’re all young, you must be eating large meals lol
Hyunwoo: Yes, we eat a LOT
Jihun: *Points at Hyunwoo* He eats the most lol.
By the way, what kind of foods are you guys into lately?
Hayoung: All the members are into Sushi.
Hakmin: Recently, we’ve eaten Sushi for 10 days straight!
Hayoung: We buy it from convenience stores too.
Hohyeon: We also order home delivery for Sushi, that’s just how much we’re addicted to it.
Hyunwoo: I like Salmon the most.
Hakmin & Siwoo: Me too!
Wooyeop: I like Salmon and Tobiko
Jihun: I love Sashimi and Sushi so much. But recently, I’ve been eating more Chicken as well, I often order home delivery for it.
Kangmin: I’m the only member who cannot eat Sushi. I’m not that into Seafood, I still never had Sushi before. If I got the chance to eat it in Japan, I’ll definitely try it.
Jisung: I’d love to try eat more beef.
How was your Don’t Stop The Dancing (Japanese version) release event in Japan?
Hohyeon: In Japan, we performed on a stage, held a fansign as well as a high touch event; we were very happy. It was fun and refreshing too.
Hayoung: I guess anyone would get nervous whenever they do something for the first time, but I was particularly nervous because it’s my very first visit to Japan. But, it was such a good opportunity, and the staff around us covered up our flaws, so we were able to deliver a great stage. We want to improve even more from now on.
Kangmin: When we stood on the stage in Japan, and we sang, and realized it was true, I thought to myself that I want to improve in my Japanese as soon as possible even if it was within 1 day, and I want to show all our Japanese fans a spectacular performance.
What was your impression of Japanese fans?
Jihun: Many of the fans who came were very touched and they were crying. It was my first time to experience such a thing.
Kangmin: Their reaction was great.
Jihun: I was very surprised at first, but really thank you so much for having cried for us. I wonder how come we have this much presence lol. I was really really surprised.
Hayoung: There were fans who’ve been studying Korean just for us, really thank you so much. Instead, I think that we should be studying Japanese even harder!
Hyunwoo: To be honest, I wanted to talk a lot in Japanese, but all I could say was simple things like “Arigatou Gozaimasu” (Thank you). I regret that a little so I’m going to study Japanese much harder so I can communicate better with all our fans.
I know you’ve already mentioned this during your release event, but please tell us the main remarks of Don’t Stop The Dancing (Japanese version).
Wooyeop: Speaking about the performance itself, we have Michael Jackson’s characteristic dance move included. There are instances where we’re like wearing a hat and doing a moonwalk, so I think this cool dance is our highlight.
Hayoung: Besides, it has a melody that anyone can remember it, and can imitate it easily. There is a phrase in the song that gets repeated, so we want everyone to sing it along with us.
What is something you’d not lose to anyone else among the group, something you consider yourself a champion at?
Hyunwoo: Eating a lot, and arm wrestling. I’m the strongest at arm wrestling.
Kangmin: B-BOY and Swipes
Siwoo: I’m the best at being a good kid.
Wooyeop: Then, I’m the best at being an old brother lol
Hayoung: I’m the most energetic.
Taeseon: My voice tone.
Hohyeon: *shyly* This applies to Hyunwoo-hyung too, but I’m the most handsome.
Jihun: My deep voice. Also, I wake up the earliest among them. Though, recently, the others started to wake me up instead, so I’m no longer the early rising Champion anymore lol.
Jisung: This is self-proclaimed, but I’m cute enough that even Kangmin cannot beat me lol
Hakmin: This is self-proclaimed too, but I choose my smiling face.
If you had the chance to become another member for 1 day, who would you be?
Taeseon: I want to be Kangmin. In fact, I don’t hold a cute image. But I’m self-proclaimed cute, just as I said earlier in my introduction “I’m in charge of cuteness” lmao
Hohyeon: I’d love to have Hayoung-hyung’s body.
Hyunwoo: His body only? Without his face?
*Everyone laughed out loud*
Hohyeon: *quickly* I made a mistake, I want everything!! Hayoung-hyung has a good physique, and he is handsome too, is he not? And yet, he is quite energetic. I’d love to spend one day with his energy.
Jihun: I want to be our leader, Taeseon. I mean, I work out too, I can control my weight however I like all by myself, but, the height… I cannot control my height like that. I would love to spend one day with a height of at least 180 cm.
If you want to become Taeseon, you must act like a leader too.
Jihun: Ah! I haven’t thought about that. Let me think about it again. Okay, I want to be Kangmin or Hayoung lol.
Does that mean that the leader’s role is hard?
Jihun: Yes. There are many different things that I’d have to take care of. The pressure is high because you’ve gotta be the group’s representative.
Hayoung: In that sense, Taeseon is actually doing pretty well.
Taeseon. As the leader, what is the most difficult thing?
*The other members suddenly correct their postures and sit back*
Taeseon: When we are talking with each other, there are usually members who are not listening, so I have to repeat the same thing that I’ve said… like 2 or 3 times...
Hohyeon: I apologize on behalf of everyone. Lol.
By reading your aura, I feel like Taeseon is a leader that you all depend on.
Everyone: *with a big nod* Yes!!
So let’s go back to our question, if you had the chance to become another member for 1 day, Jisung, who would you pick?
Jisung: I want to become our leader, Taeseon. I like his style so I’d love to spend a day with such proportion.
But you all are still growing. There is a chance that your height might grow from now on.
Jisung: I’ve been told this a lot. I’m not gonna lose hope lol.
Kangmin: I want to be any of the rappers. Hohyeon, or Jisung-hyung, or Hyunwoo-hyung.
Jihun: You divide the time of the day on each on of them?
Kangmin: Hahaha. Yes. I practice my singing every day, so it’d be nice if I could do some cool rap for 1 day.
Hohyeon: Actually, Kangmin’s urge to try rapping is high recently.
Jihun: In the past, although Kangmin excels at singing, he’s shown some interest in rapping as well. He usually likes to imitate our rapper-hyungs, and during Spectrum MV, he’s done lip-syncing to all the parts.
Hohyeon: Including the rap parts.
Jihun: I was surprised!
Hyunwoo: I’d like to become Siwoo. I want to experience how’s it like to spontaneously play the fool for once lol.
Hakmin: I want to be Kangmin. Isn’t his skin so beautiful? I’d love to spend one whole day without worrying about my skin.
Siwoo: I want to be leader Taeseon-hyung, I want to have both his body and his mind. Taeseon-hyung has a strong sense of responsibility, being the leader. Besides, I’d have the leader’s authority for once, no?
Everyone: Ooohh~~!!
Jihun: He really means it when he says “authority” lol
Siwoo. What do you want to do when you have the authority of a leader?
Siwoo: The thing I want to do is something Taeseon-hyung isn’t actually doing (as a leader). What I want to do is, I want to make all the members clean around while I just lay down lol.
*Everyone laughed out loud*
Hohyeon: That’s a little crazy~~
Jihun: That’s not having authority alone, that’s being a “King” lmao
Wooyeop: *in reply to Siwoo* I was shocked. For me, I want to become Hyunwoo. I have a complex about my voice, it’s too soft. However, Hyunwoo has this thick voice ever since he was born. He also has this handsome face that’s liked by other girls. I’m envious of him.
Hayoung: Although this might surprise the members, but I want to be Jisung. I’d love to try composing music, but Jisung’s pronunciation and lyrics are so good, I want to be him for one day, and write some lyrics in my notebook lol.
All of you are currently teenagers, what are the things that you’d like to do as teens?
Hakmin: There are things that can only be done by minors before they become adults. For example, going to school and such. I want to do those kind of things.
Taeseon: We are currently working so we don’t get to go to school every single day. That’s why I’d love to be able to go to school regularly and make small memories with my friends if I have time.
Jisung: It’s important to make memories with my friends as long as I’m a student. I have around 3 close friends, but I cannot go to school regularly so I don’t see them much. I still maintain our friendship by keeping in touch with them through texting.
Hohyeon: Next time, I want to tour Japan with my school friends.
Jisung: Me too. This time we came to Japan for work, but next time, I want to come as a tourist.
Hyunwoo: Music-wise, I want to do the things that only teens can do; as much as I can. I want us to get 1st place with songs about sentiments and stories that are unique to teens.
Kangmin: I want us to have a fresh performance and show a cool stage with the sense of teens.
Siwoo: There are 3 things that I want to achieve in my teens. First, get 1st Place in all music shows in Korea. Second, get 1st place in Oricon Charts! After that, perform in a Fully seated Tokyo Dome!
Everyone: *in admiration* Wow!
Hyunwoo: Being us, I think we can achieve all this!!
Wooyeop: Besides, I want us to win an award at the year-end music awards ceremonies. Also, before we turn 20 years old, I want to go on a trip with my members only, just like a school trip.
Hyunwoo: When we were trainees, we used to go to Han river a lot together. We used to hold like a mini sports tournament, and play basketball or football, then eat ramen, and just hang out together happily.
Wooyeop: We still have never went on a trip where we’ve stayed overnight somewhere.
Hayoung: I’ve made a Bucket list, and on the list there was “Eat Shabu shabu” and we have already achieved that after we came to Japan lol. Other things on the list include things I want to eat, places I want to go, and people I want to shake hands with. There is still so much time before we turn 20, I want to achieve everything on that list.
Who do you want to shake hands with, Hayoung?
Hayoung: It’s actually a secret but… I want to shake hands with T-ARA’s Jiyeon-sunbaenim. I’ve been a fan of her since I was a kid lol.
You are now starting your activities in Japan, but is it the first time that you all come to Japan?
Hyunwoo: Yes. It’s everyone’s first time. It was my first time to get on a plane too, so it was wonderful~~
Hakmin: I’ve thought about wanting to come to Japan before. I even thought about living in here. It’s a really good place.
Hayoung: I’ve already experienced little bit of Japan through Anime, and actually the cityscape here is the same that I’ve seen in Anime, it’s so pretty. My tension went very high lol.
Taeseon: If I had the time, I’d love to go in a walk in those beautiful Japanese streets.
Jisung: Me too, I wanna go on a walk while watching the scenery.
Taeseon: Then~~~ Let’s go together! Lol!
Hohyeon: I want to go shopping with everyone too~
Kangmin: I like watching movies, I’ve also watched some Japanese movies before. I wanna go to the locations that were shown in those movies.
Jihun: I like cars so I’d love to try and drive a car in Japan someday; if I got my driving licence. In Japan, the steering wheel is on the right, unlike Korea, which is on the left. Therefore, I feel like it’s somewhat different, so I think it’s pretty fun to try and drive in Japan for once.
At the end, please tell ur your future goals as a group.
Hohyeon: As mentioned earlier, we want to take 1st place.
Hayoung: We will do our best in Japan and gain popularity! We definitely want to perform in Tokyo Dome!
((Interviewer's impression on TRCNG: They seem to be studying Japanese well, they introduced themselves in Japanese and they do greetings in Japanese too. They have positive communication. During the interview, when I ask an open question, they raise their hands before they could answer. Once someone is done answering, others will raise their hands to answer too. I was impressed by how polite and responsive they were. Despite being young, they showed their innocence and real characters.))
