I would title this photo “Dream state” as it shows a young handsome man almost hidden in the woods.  This young man gives me a “Nightmare on Elm Street” vibe as he is a very handsome young man that is hidden by the branches some what with a seductive look upon his face.  He feels as he is almost inviting you into the area with him and the red balloon makes it feel like he is trying to show he will not harm anyone.  The whole area makes it feel as if you are in a dream state and the if you venture forward the dream could turned into a nightmare at any moment.

“All Included” By Lawrence Clark May 8, 2022 ISO 1600 F3.5 @1/160
The two men are looking to be exchanges cards and the people in the background seem to be talking about other things. As the one man is handing back the card the other is looking at other options as if he is listening and thinking about a strategy he is trying to figure out.  The people are in the photo all look to be different age, race, and body types which gives a sense of inclusion in what they seem to be doing.

I would call this photo “Welcoming Spring” as the young women in the photo faces away we can see some blossoming trees in the background with so bare bushes as well.  Her expression seems to be turning to a smile as she looks out away from the photo.  Her black clothes and umbrella could be a representation of death retreating for the time as spring comes forth and winter passes.  The sky is still a bit gloomy but the green around gives the feeling of life returning.

I would call this photo “Standing Out” as the young women stands out from everything around her.  The young women is looking upward seemingly at the architecture that surrounds her.  with a very dark color scheme in both the foreground and background she stands out in her white and light blue outfit.  Her facial features stand out with the help of the darker makeup she is wearing.  The space in the photo is used well as the vertical lines from the pillars and the horizontal lines in the background give an eye pleasing effect and she is place in the center of the two pillars giving a symmetrical feel to the photo.

“Teaching Time” By Lawrence Clark ISO 16000 F 3.5 @1/125
The subject here is pointing towards the exhibit of raptors in a museum as if he is explaining something about it.  I was attempted to create a professor feeling with the suit and tie and more serious look on the subjects face. The Field Museum in Chicago, IL was a great place to go as they had a multitude of exhibits to place my subject in front of the lighting was tricking and this photo happened to be in one of the more lit areas of the museum.  The exhibits and his appearance in the suit and tie helps add to the feel of him being someone of high learning and his expression gives off a feeling as if he is about to say something while pointing at the raptor. I think I accomplished my goal in this photo and it is believable that he is a person of higher learning or at least someone at the museum giving tours.  I chose this because the subject hardly wears a suit and his glass and beard give the idea he is older than what he is.  It also gives the idea of him being a professional of some kind and having him point and giving a more serious expression makes it appear he is about to speak.

“Unaware” By Lawrence Clark 04/15/2022 ISO 4000 F3.5 @ 1/125
The subject is relaxing oblivious to the killer approaching.  The setting is creepy and the black and white gives it a more retro slasher feeling.  The subject is in clothes to show he is relaxed and the looking away as if he is in thought or watching television.  The killer is in all black with a white mask as to hide his identity with a slight glint from his blade in hand.  I used my basement to set this scene and attempted to make it look lived in as if this was an everyday routine for the subject. My partner thought the killer was in a hurry and was rushing to get the kill but agreed with the retro slasher feeling the photo had.  The killer rushing surprised me a little bit but other then that the interpretation from my partner was what I was expecting.

“Waiting for an Explanation” By Lawrence Clark 04/08/2022 ISO 2500 F4.0 @1/60
I decided to photograph my friend Shaggy as he enjoys cosplaying and is comfortable in front of a camera.  I chose to take this photo in my basement because I wanted the subject to feel more comfortable in a private place. It also allowed him to change in and out of the cosplay for different photos. The pose he is in gives off a dominating feeling as if he is waiting for something or someone to confess something.  The blank expression gives off a feeling as if he already knows the information he is seeking or knows what is about the happen.  I had the subject think about someone he knew was lying, while he was waiting for the person to tell the truth and the longer it took the more agitated he got.

“Shallow and Alone” By Lawrence Clark March 20, 2022 1/60 @F/22 ISO 1000
I made this Panorama photo by taking overlapping photos at the Gebhard Woods State Park. I took these photos by taking one and moving a few steps over before taking the next one. I repeated this five times to get try and get the most in view. I then imported the photos into Lightroom classic and selected the overlapping photos.  I went to the top and click on photo and moved down to merge photo.  Once the side menu opened I chose panorama and click it.  Lightroom then merged the three photos together and I clicked on auto crop to fill in the white part of the photo.  I then looked at the three options for the panorama, which where spherical, cylindrical, and perspective.  After looking at how each one looked I decided to go with the perspective option as I thought it looked the best as it was not warping the branches in a odd way like the other options did.

“Stone Waypoint” By Lawrence Clark April 3, 2022 1/60 @f/25 ISO 1250
I moved the stones in the photo to a marshy location and stacked them upon one another to make a waypoint of sorts. This changed the photo, as before it would  of had just fallen branches and reflection of trees in stagnate water.  The rocks give a focal point and leading lines within themselves.  There are also leading lines pointing to the rocks from the fallen branches themselves.  Does the standing rock look as to have a face here?

“Misty Illusion” By Lawrence Clark March 20, 2022 1/60 @ F/29 ISO 4000
I went to Gebhard Woods State Park, which has the Illinois River that runs next to it.  I chose to go here because it is a fishing spot I enjoyed going to and remembered that there was some industrial structures around the area that might yield interesting photos.  I arrived at the park around 6:50am as the sun was just starting to peek over the tree line.  I saw the mist on the water with the barge sitting on it and thought it looked a bit eerie.  The photo shows the mist with the barge and the reflection on the water.  I off centered the large barge at a distance and got the tree line in the background to balance the image.  The water in the foreground is showing the reflection and a slight ripple from where I was standing.  The sun was coming from the left of the barge giving the sky a pinkish to blueish tone from the tree line.  The barge is the focal point here and the mist and reflection helps draw your eyes right to it.

“Reaching for each other” by Lawrence Clark 03/13/20222 ISO 100, F 18 @ 1/60 sec
The unique shape of the barren tree draws you in and its trunk leads you to see the reflections in the still water that leads to rippling water slowly taking over the water itself.  The texture of the water in this photo goes from smooth still water to a rough choppy water that seems to be slowly overtaking the smooth water.  The dry grass looks hay like and gives you a rough sense.  There is a break between two trees allowing you to see the height of the grass. The trees almost look as if they are reaching for each other over the space of the grass between them. The space in the water is showing the distortion from the rippling movement across the water as it seems to be slowly taking over the smooth water.

“Slipping Away” by Lawrence Clark 03/06/2022 ISO 400, F 11 @ 1/60 sec
The narrow stream that starts in the lower right winds past barren and fallen trees, scattered rocks of various sizes, and weathered dry grass leads back to a wide river in the distance.  The light helps to reveal reflections of the stream and offers a grim decaying feeling as the stream seems to be dissipating and still.  The grass is dry and withered almost like hay and the the trees have grown barren and dry as well, some have even fallen along the stream.

“Going Down” by Lawrence Clark ISO 200, F 5.6 @ 1/640.
In this photo you have the soft looking texture of the snow on the lily pads that resend under the ice.  You can see the lines of the frozen ice over the lily pads as they are under the water still covered by the snow.  The lines on that form the bottle helps your eyes follow the lily pads as if you are watching them slowing being taken by the ice. The dingy color of the water off balances the bright green of the bottle and lets the white snow stand out more.

“Peace of mind,” Waterfall Glen Lemont, by Lawrence Clark, 02/2022 ISO 100 F5.0 @ 1/60.
I used a friend with the bottle by a iced over stream to show emotion in the photo.  The viewer can get an impression on the the feeling by how the person is holding the bottle and the placement of the hands, without needing to see the person face.  With the lack of the face the viewer is also free to imagine what that face maybe doing at the time of the photo.  In this assignment I learned that you need a balance with the colors of your photos as to allow not only the story of the photo but so the viewer has different areas to look and follow in the photo.

“Addiction” by Lawrence Clark 02/2022 ISO 400, F6.3 @ 1/100
I used an used syringe, a trading card, and napkins to resemble trash you might see in the streets.  I decided to leave the light snow that covered the sewer cause I thought it gave a more unique look.  From this assignment I learned placement of objects can change the photo and how people look at them. I also learned how to get the correct exposure outside even with something as white as snow.

“Snack Time” by Lawrence Clark 02/2022 ISO 400, F11 @ 1/80
For this assignment we were tasked with taking different photos of a sewer.  We needed to change the composition of the photo with items but make it look natural.  The items we used had to be environmentally safe and easy to clean away as we needed to clean up anything we placed or used on the sewer.  I discovered that even something that people view as gross or disgusting can be a star on photo.
