Getcha some.
Well, it’s a sad day. Just found out that the only color darkroom in Portland is biting the dust on the 23rd, so I will no longer be hand printing my own work. If you want a custom C-print let me know while I can still make them. There is a darkroom two hours away in Olympia, but printing there would result in much more expensive prints if and when I go that route. So get em cheap while you can:

UPDATE: I noticed this just got tagged with the "Artists on Tumblr" tag. If you're interested in keeping up with my work please visit my personal tumblr: eliascarlson.tumblr.com
I got to spend an evening photographing National Geographic explorer/marine biologist David Gruber, talking about bioluminscent sea creatures, our mutual love for the BBC, and Steve Zissou. This photo, along with a couple others will be running alongside his underwater photos in Vol 4 of Another Escape. I’d highly recommend picking up a copy, this issue is going to be fantastic. Order here.

We found it odd. The way the chipmunk staggered woozily from the brush like the town drunk in a bad Western. Perhaps he’d nibbled his way into some camper’s stash of peyote. Maybe he was just a little dehydrated. But then we noticed the leg. It dragged lifeless behind him as he crossed the pathway and collapsed, tiny rib cage heaving, at the base of a small boulder.
I looked at Joseph, “Oh man, that’s sad. I wonder what happened to him. I hope some jerk camper didn’t slingshot him for fun.”
We took a few steps closer.
“I think maybe that’s a bite mark,” Joseph said, observing a small gash in the chipmunk’s left hindquarter. We watched as a crimson stain seeped through brown fur.
As the light in the little eyes grew dimmer, the ragged gasps for breath shallower, we looked at each other and knew:
“It has to be a rattlesnake.”

I've released one of my more ambitious blog posts into the wild today. You can read the full post in two different places. Pick your poison.
