All right so were back at it. I’ve been doing a couple of little road trips around the New York area the last week so it was hard to squeeze in time to take pics while the sun is out. But we’re back, so lets get into it.
What’s the newest item in your closet?
Top (S) - All Saints, Shorts - H&M / Top (XL) All Saints, Shorts - H&M
So yes, they are the same exact sweaters just in different sizes. When I shop, I often get different sizes of the same thing. There will be times to wear a fitted over an oversized, depending on how where you going and how you feel. These two sweaters were actually on sale, two for the prize of one so I took advantage of it. Of course they had different sweaters, but there were two factors that made me not get the other sweaters. 1, this was the only pitch black...black, others had an undertone of blue or gray; 2, they had a white one but it wasn’t really white white, more like cream white. As mentioned in the other post, I’m very particular when it comes to my clothes, this is a way for my wardrobe to be consistent. Being more critical with what you buy makes it more personal too that when you wear, it just feels more part of you. I’ll go more into detail of the idea of buying different sizes of the same piece in a future post.
This sweater in particular, since it’s made of yarn, is extremely light on the body. The weight of it is literally the weight of a wet paper towel. In a way, the black of it is the only thing that would absorb heat, not the thickness of it. However, the slight texture, you know that fuzzy texture of yarn, will actually create little friction heating up your body. I know some people can tolerate the texture, I know some who dont. I personally can’t, but through time, I get used to it. If you’re like me, I suggest just having something under it like a tank top.
Summer is great time to take advantage of great deals on sweaters for the fall. Is it ideal to wear in the summer? No, but there are ways to keep cool even when wearing black. I’ll make a post about tips on wearing all black in the summer pretty soon (maybe after this one) for those who are interested in the idea.
Thanks for reading, till next time!

Okay so I’m gonna try (or I am going to) write on this blog of my own stuff about clothes and what not. My friends and my mom have been encouraging me to blog about how I dress, put make up and what not so here it is. From now (I hope), expect more entries on clothing, shopping, looks whatever. Still trying to figure it out.
So I only dress in black and white + denim. I commit myself to it in very passionate manner but I’ll go more into detail of how it works in the future. For now, in the next few days, I’m just gonna do the closet confidential tag but answering one question a day. (I’m using Jen’s video as a link cause I love Jen so much)
What’s the oldest item in your closet?
Shirt (S) - Target, Sweatpants - Ithaca, Shoes - Nike
Keeping aside the plain white T’s, my oldest white piece is this fitted long sleeve that has a hood. I got this around 2011 back when I wasn’t in a monochrome commitment (I started committing to white 2014). I remember getting it from target however when I got it, I wasn’t super comfortable having my nipples piercing it out since it’s quite tight. I didn’t think it would pierce it so much thats why I bought it. Through the years, I got more comfortable with my body so I started wearing it.
The shirt for the most part gives me that “I just came from the gym” vibe so I never thought it worked with jeans or anything. So I usually wear it with sweatpants and sneakers (my shoes are dirty excuse that) to fit that “gym” look even though I actually didn’t come form the gym. However, I tuck in my shirt almost all the time to make it more of an outfit instead of something you’re wearing for convenience. Golden rule, never wear clothing for convenience, wear something you’d wanna die in even if you’re just taking out the trash. One thing to know about me is that I always tuck in my shirts to my stomach. It’s more comfortable for me that way plus it gives an illusion of longer legs, which is good for someone who’s short like me.
Shirt (S) - Marshalls ??, Shorts - H&M, Shoes - Thrifted
I started committing to black in 2013, which is the beginning senior year of high school (how I got into doing it would be a separate post) and when I did start, I only owned two black shirts, this one which has a collar in it and this black tee that had some graphic logo of lactose in it. But this is the oldest one and I don’t know where I got it from. It’s one of those shirts you’ve always had but don’t remember getting it. Probably from marshalls or something.
When I only had this shirt and my lactose shirt when I first started committing to black, I rotated them constantly until I started owning other black clothing. Nowadays, I never actually wear this alone; I primarly use this shirt for the collar, if I wanna add a little flare into a sweater or a shirt.
I believe that a shirt with a collar is an essential for everyone. You can literally make a boring ass sweater or shirt into a bomb ass outfit just by putting a collar into it. This particular shirt is perfect it too cause it’s light so it doesn’t add that much heat into the layers that you’re adding already. I also have another black collar shirt that I use for the winter time that’s thicker than this one. So instead of having a plain shirt as a layer, why not add a collar into your winter layers right?
If I were to wear this alone though, I’d tuck it in with black shorts (all the way to the stomach of course) and pair it with some school boy shoes.
So that’s it, my first post. Thanks if you read the whole thing. Starting off pretty shaky but you gotta start somewhere with this right.
