On Tumblr people are spreading the post about maybe not scaring centrists away from the left
On Twitter people are harassing Olivia Julianna for saying the same thing and publicizing her own experience with the classist far left
They apparently do not believe that’s actually a horrible look for your cause
Neat
#us politics#attacking a genuine bonafide on the ground activist…?#do leftists not want anyone to coalition with them ever?#I cannot think of a single other outcome

Voting blocs that voted overwhelmingly for Harris:
Black people
Jewish people
Queer people (and the percentage was high enough it definitely included white queer people as the majority)
Non-religious people
Voting blocs that voted majority for Harris:
Latinx people (barely)
Asian people (barely)
Non-Christian religious people (as a whole)
Voting blocs that voted for a third-party candidate (so secret Trump voters) (according to CAIR):
Muslim people
Voting blocs that voted overwhelmingly for Trump:
Non-college educated white women
White men
(The voting exit polls for Native people is unreliable and is therefore not included)
So white people need to become capable of looking inward because only queer people understood the stakes, all the white demographics (including white women) shifted right along with everyone else people love speculating about—every group you don’t belong to should be seen as an intracommunity issue and not your business
I am very, very tired of takes that reflect social media posts but not the concrete numbers. The actual issue is, once again, your racist white uncle. You are not immune to misinformation.

#us politics#us elections#2024 elections#2024 presidential election#people on social media are acting so weird#it’s upsetting#there probably aren’t (luckily for me) secret trump voters on tumblr#this is the first time in my life white gays have not disappointed me#and it’s so sad people on here are yelling at each other instead of their racist family on Facebook Twitter and TikTok#also please stop trying to scapegoat people of color#white people own this

Fascinating and telling how many leftists hate a version of Hillary Clinton that only exists in their heads and the eyes of the far right
#us politics#us elections#hillary clinton#this one goes out to the people who say she’s at the same place on the political spectrum as Margaret Thatcher (because she’s a woman)#or RONALD REAGAN#so sorry but you were all the children left behind

"Why didn't the Democrats codify Roe v Wade?"
They didn't have enough votes to bypass the filibuster because of Joe Manchin
"Why didn'-"
The answer is probably Joe Manchin.
"They had 60 votes in-"
For a few months and that entire time was spent wrestling with like 11 Joe Manchins from a bunch of red states in the senate to get health care reform passed.
"What about the Filibuster-"
JOE FUCKING MANCHIN

Hey… bad things are not ‘secretly’ good things
Hate crimes are wrong and bad and cannot be justified by you thinking other people are a jumpscare

Another issue with the separatist idea of "everyone who shares our identity will always understand your experience and struggles, and everyone outside of it will never ever understand" -
You can only enforce that first part by pretending there is an universal set of experiences everyone who shares your identity goes through, and punishing any talk that deviates from it. You make those struggles the defining factor of the identity.
Anyone who doesn't share your identity but says "I experience this too" is seen as an attack on your group instead of a potential ally. They're the enemy, trying to appropriate your struggles and erase you.
Anyone who does share your identity but says "This is not representing my experience" is pushed out of the in-group and basically considered to be aligning themselves with the enemy.

This week into next week is going to be bonkers.
-Thursday: Halloween 🎃
-Sunday: Time change for the US (and probably other places) (we're going backwards an hour)
-Tuesday: ELECTION DAY
So uhh...be gentle with yourself this week. And each other. Remember to take a break from the news cycle every once in a while, because if last election November taught us anything, it's gonna be wild. (Maybe another long-standing queer-baiting couple will go canon and we can all go feral again on the tumblr.coms)
AND GO VOTE!

I stay out of most online discussions about housing because leftists will almost instantly reveal they will never think housing is affordable unless the middle class (so them, specifically) can afford a detached single family suburban home because they feel entitled to a lawn
But I am once again begging you all to stop because I actually do want to talk about rent prices, local corruption, wages, etc
And frankly suburbia can get renatured for all I care about cul-de-sacs (although obviously the best solution is a mix of redesigning them as villages, stop stealing land, and straight up giving stolen land back)
I wonder why people online pretend broke and poor are synonymous and then I remind myself that you all don’t actually want to listen to poor people because you’re just as classist and snobbish and elitist as the best of them so you have to invent fake poor people to go back to centering yourselves and it is ruining my online experience
The amount of leftism that is just “I’m too good to live in an apartment, with the poors” is insulting and hurtful; but more than that it’s cliche, ahistorical, and annoying
People don’t want change they just want to put stuff back the way it was when it was less bad for them specifically under the branding of “revolution”—which is, again, annoying—you say you hate an imagined past but your vision of the future never leaves the 1950s-1980s that never existed anyway
And that’s the end of my regularly scheduled frustrated rant
#us politics#classism#tbh I would stop writing these if leftists stopped pretending they like poor people#no you don't#the things you imply about poor people pretty consistently are horrific#and regularly give me flashbacks not just to my childhood but to my childhood bullies#you imagine Black people as poor but THE (sympathetic) poor as white and it’s just creepy#housing

A thing about the discourse of where antisemitism and antizionism interact is that
1) a fair amount of antizionists are neonazis, Islamists, Arab supremacists, and communists who believe ethnic self-identity is a barrier to World Revolution, who are just *barely* concealing it (if that)
2) a fair amount of antizionists base their antizionism on a denial of an element (or elements) of Jewish self-identity (denial of Jewish ethnicity, denial of ethnogenesis in the Levant), and a whole lot of Jews find non-Jews essentially arguing that they should get to define what Jews are and aren’t offensive (and antisemitic)
3) there are a fair amount of antizionists whose antizionism comes from a deep hatred of an element or elements of what they determine is evil about “western” society, and for some reason they have decided to obsessively focus on Israel and ignore other “western” countries. This may be genuinely not antisemitic, but it’s still fucked up and weird.
