I wrote this a few months back when I was feeling touchstarved 😭😭😭

I'm kind of a beginner writer, so I hope this is okay

You love singing along to whatever comes on your shuffled playlist, rendering the entire apartment complex victim to your not-so private, not-so mini concert as you supplement your vocals with improvised choreography. Sometimes, Kurapika comes home to bear witness to your heartfelt performances; they're met with you holding a spatula in your hand as you belt the lyrics and nearly burn dinner. You turn the spatula's head to face Kurapika, and he usually, very awkwardly, mouths the lyrics that he knows, and chuckles as you take the microphone back in proud approval as if he didn't just miss every line. "I'm sorry, I don't know that song," he says every time. Kurapika doesn't really keep up with "popular culture", and you think it's cute in a way, especially when he likes a specific song and learns the words immediately after. He has a smooth and sweet voice when he does know the words, and you always clap louder when they're enjoying themselves.

The music dies as you serve dinner, sit down, have a meal with him, and you fall into the same, usual rhythm. They tell you about his long day at work while you tell him about how you spent your day off. In between banter and rambling, he tells you everything's delicious even when you both know all of it is rather... unsightly. They'll never tell you it looks hideous. If you badger him for what he really thinks anyway, they won't focus too much on how weirdly you cut the vegetables, and instead, thank you for trying so hard to get better at cooking. They especially feel grateful and moved when you try to cook Kurtan cuisine. He always leaves the plates spotless and picks them up before you can bring them to the sink. You wash the dishes with them, sometimes humming. He might tell you to go back and rest, but he also enjoys spending as much time as possible with you so they won't argue that much when you insist. You tell him you like doing the dishes, but you secretly like having them close even more (they obviously know). He likes to listen to your voice, whether it's your humming or you talking about another random thing you learned. They sometimes throw in their own trivia, and you kind of stare at him in adoration the whole time when he starts to go on and on.

Even with the sound of rushing water gone, the concert is far from over. As soon as the food's settled in your stomachs, you start the music again, take their hands in yours and waltz, twirl, and even dip him, dancing haphazardly and stepping on their feet every now and then. He really doesn't mind, especially when you're smiling so brightly like that in between your "sorries", your little squeaks, and your "oopses."

"I love your voice," he says warmly, and you gush over it no matter how many times he tells you.

Seems like you have no reason to stop your mini concerts if he keeps looking at you with warmth in those beautiful, brown eyes that every now and then tinge scarlet even when your notes fall flat.

-I just think that if Kurapika didn't join the mafia or maybe he reached a point where he let go of his mission, he would make a really good teacher

-I think he would be a kindergarten teacher who could teach college level if he really wanted to

-he'd have to get a diploma tho finish formal education before that

-I just think that he would be so kind and constantly look out for his students, they would adore him

-maybe he'd worry a little about being too awkward for the kids, and will work really hard to teach things in a way that can accommodate to all learning styles

-he would NOT get their slang at all skibidi toilet and looksmaxxing will be completely foreign concepts

-he'd teach humss classes, maybe history and language would be his forte

Watching Hunter X Hunter for the first time and I totally forgot that that this isn’t a fantasy setting and technology just exists. We spend the whole exam arc in a series of different uninhabited forests and then the second they graduate Kurapika suggests they just google where Killua lives

I don’t know how many boys follow me, but I gotta bet there’s some. I just wanna tell y’all to be careful.

Abusive girls exist and what they’re doing is seen as like “badass tough don’t take no shit” but your girl should not hit you. Ever.

She should not demand for you to hand over your phone to look through.

She should not yell at you and humiliate you either alone or in front of people.

She shouldn’t make you distance yourself from your friends or family.

She shouldn’t scratch you or twist your arms.

She should not call you names.

She shouldn’t tell you ‘she’ll kill herself if you break up’

These are just a few examples of abuse and it’s just seen as okay when girls do it and god knows I’ve fallen victim to it a few times, but you shouldn’t have to.

Never worry about not being in a relationship. If they’re worth it, they won’t hurt you.

No one has the right to hurt you.

In honor of the hxh manga coming back in a few days, I want to take a second to honor the more light-hearted moments Succession War that we most likely may not be getting for a long while just simply because the plot is really starting to add up (which is amazing but all the more nerve-wracking). There are many and a lot of people have talked about this scene specifically already, but I just need to talk about it personally because I can't stop laughing at it.

Like all of it is just gold. First of all, just starting off with the plain insult. Amazing. 10/10. There's nothing like telling your co-worker straight to their face and with blatant honesty that they have a below-average level of comprehension. He just says what we all wish we could say. Love that for him.

And then it just gets better really. The subtle shade from Killua to both of them. "Since it's you we are talking about" like damn. Though seriously favorable in comparison to having a whole disclaimer about just how gross you are.

Also the fact that, Kurapika; a mafia boss who has done hordes of awful things such as extorting, manipulating, and stealing from people in order to further advance with his mission (and oh yeah has also killed a member of the Spiders and buried him with a shovel he brought to the fight) had to pause and remind himself that this was all for the sake of his fallen brethren....just because he had to give out the most mediocre, obviously dramatized, compliment to Bisky ONCE?? Just so she could leave him alone too LMFAOAOA

I usually don’t like when people him overdramatic but in this instance I will absolutely let it slide because it’s just the flat out truth.

I’m glad this scene exists because it’s just another example of how he hasn’t fully lost himself to his mission (on top of the many other scenes that explicitly indicate this such as his interactions with Queen Oito, Wobble, Bill, Hanzo, and Leorio). Not because it holds anything of substantial value *really* but because because it shows that he still has a sense of pride beyond his goals and that he's still the brilliantly witty, slightly judgemental asshole from the hunter exam. (I say this in admiration)

I also just love the fact he regresses to his childhood expression of pure annoyance. This was most definitely intentional and I will die on this hill.

I need to lock in and create more serious hxh posts my god. But either way, so incredibly excited for what may come to pass in the upcoming chapters. (Togashi please let him live I need to see him insult people more)
