The problem I have with Markus being the catalyst for Connor's deviation is that there's zero emotional stakes involved. It's so bland compared to every single deviation story we see in the game.
For everyone, the deviation is traumatic, deeply personal, and for Connor, Markus is just a target, he's literally nobody, a defective machine that needs to be captured and disassembled, and you're telling me I'm supposed to believe that this is how Connor realizes that he's a person? Don't make me laugh.
"But Markus has all the answers for Connor about the deviancy!"
No, he doesn't. He never tried to find out what happened to him, what the Red Wall was, how he changed, how others changed, did they go through something similar or not? Connor never asks Markus these questions. And by the way, what kind of answers can a 10-year-old domestic android give to a state-of-the-art prototype designed for hunting, infiltration and combat?
And even if Markus had some kind of answers, what reasons does Connor have to believe him?
The main problem with Connor's deviation is that the Crossroads scene is literally the first time he ever sees Markus. Connor is pointing a gun at him. And then Markus says, "You're a wizard, Harry," and suddenly Connor is on the Jericho side. Do you see how stupid that is? Connor has no reason to trust Markus, and Markus has every reason to manipulate Connor into abandoning his mission.
Honestly, this whole thing can be fixed. Just add some personal stakes. Make Connor constantly chase Markus, make Markus make several attempts to change Connor's mind, make it all gradual. Fuck, make Hank bring Connor to Markus! MAKE IT PERSONAL.
"But Connor needs Markus to realize his personhood!"
Can you stop infantilizing Connor for a minute? Why doesn't Kara need Markus? Why doesn't North, Simon, Josh, or any other Jericho android need Markus? Why don't the Eden girls need him to figure things out? Why didn't the androids who came to Zlatko for help need Markus? Why is it always Connor? Ask yourself this question.

Fic idea where Nines doesn’t even need to do anything to make Gavin moan, he just does it on his own because he’s in a constant state of pain and suffering

This was a response I got from @moeblob in regards to a question I asked and it was so spot on that I couldn't keep it private.
Please appreciate these Facts™ because god knows we need more gavin lovers in this fandom.
