|| Happy °• Holy •° Humble •° || There's nothing more humbling like my wife calling me out on ways I've sinned against her. It's humbling because she's the only human who knows me too well. Also because my confidence in doing husbanding well feels attacked. But let me also say this is the most sanctifying relationship in my life. I get to have a HDR view of my sin, and if that's not enough, my wife has seen it all before. Where do I run to in moments of such exposure? Do I also undo her dirty linen? Should this turn out to be a sin pointing contest? Should I wait for her to sin so that I can finally say... Gotcha! What is the remedy for the shame? The remedy is Jesus. Who has died in my place because of the very same sins. I run to him and tell him, "Lord I have a terrible heart. Thank you for loving me so patiently. " God disciplines those he loves. His children will not continue to live in sin. They will not love darkness but will rejoice at it's exposing. They will want all the more to live in the light. Let us press on to know the Lord. Let us linger in His presence through tears and an ever blazing vision of His Holiness. If he chooses to use marriage to make me holy rather than happy, what else will define eternal joy than that? My Bean Story I was raised by a hard working mum. Wakarugo would carry me to Gikomba on her back. I have memories of passing via muthurwa, machakos country bus, shauri moyo and then we'd take the stroll down to our family stalls. I would spend the early years before joining school in Gikomba. Maaayne I loved the market! The toys, the scavenging for goodies kwa mtush. Those days never saw me bored 🤓 Back to the beans. During holidays my dad's mum, 'shosho wa Karugo' would come visit us. And we'd be left in her care. That was the first time I heard terms like Nyayo, Wairimu, Mwitemania and Rose Coco. Those are bean names. One day we were in our granny care, mums instructions were karanga those beans for lunch. For a family of 4 at that time, Wakarugo used to cook large portions of food. So during lunch time, granny karangaad the beans so that when my mum came home at around 6pm, she'll make chapatis for dinner. Was I gonna wait for the chapatis so that I have the beans? Who said I had to? And was my granny going to say no to anything food related, hmm? So granny asked me to have my fill. To save you the long read, I remember serving the beans on my bowl for close to 7 times.
