fabric
Fiber cross over and under each other. Slowly making patterns. Stitched one pixel of an idea at a time. Weaving the physical from space.

morning sun
This was the type of morning she deserved. Today, today was HER day. She laid back on the lounger and looked straight up. The straw umbrella made her smile.

war time dance
A small rectangle of tissue paper fell from her grandmother’s journal. She flipped thru to see if she could find the source. Towards the end she saw it. She read how the night unfolded. Jubilant at first. All of the expectation, yet none of them knew this is how it began.

There were maple leaves on the ceiling. She wanted to remember those leaves. She committed the shapes in her mind as the cocktail began to lull her.

a lonely fingerprint
I want to be part of this scene. I wanted to be included. But, instead, I watch from the window. And as I turn to go, I lift my hand and see my finger prints are there.
Evidence of me.

dragonflies
I always remember the dragon flies. The dragon flies would hover over the water. And then, dart away Going to camp was the one time I felt whole.

a mother’s safety
She watched as joy touched her daughter’s face She couldn’t help but smile at the warmth of love.
Maise had gotten so big, so grown up, making very serious points. Hands on her hips, teachers pose, her mother thought.
Unhindered by her lack of years to gather baggage Confident, brave, smart and open
She still ran to her mother putting her face in her mom’s side. Breathing in safety and love

rejection
They lay next to each other; one hot, one cold. Both fearing the rejection of reaching out. And in this paralyzation, they confirm the lie they tell themselves.

free queen
The sun shown down in such a way it seemed to explode into flashing glitter. Revealing the true queen in vibrant color. She had, at last, been freed.

the parade
The parade confetti rained down, treating us to an alternate world. I looked across the sea of people and glitter, raising my face.
It’s this one perfect moment where sound becomes color. Music becomes the hum in my body. Completely free.

Boundaries
As she recalled their recent interactions, a theme started to emerge. Something that seemed so simple
Her mother stopped calling her after the last one. Maybe it was for the best since she had cried when bid to stop writing.
Speaking those words had prevented the violation of her boundaries. Just tell her.
But lines had been crossed. Boundaries hand been breached.
The expectations overwhelmed
It was a Revelation
If you just told her, She’d never want to run over you
But still the words to explain the feelings didn’t seem to appear. And then Pixie said, them.
It hurts when you paint over me.
There are lines. And sometimes I need you to say inside my lines.
She felt run over, painted with the tire tracks of unsaid expectations. And the blood of expectation and assumption was on both of their hands.
No longer needing to be bound by the unsaid.
