When the child was young, CEO von Hagen enjoyed teasing and playing with him, and would say things along the lines of, “Your mom only likes me, not you. You’re just a complimentary gift”. This would often result in the child bursting into tears. 

Because of the deep and dark shadow he gave to the child, the latter grew up vying for affection with his father. 

Now, the two often compete and fight for the throne of “Mom’s Favourite Person” (they don’t actually fight). CEO von Hagen deeply regrets not treating the child better during his younger days.
