Giyuu vs Sanemi sparring thoughts...

The anime specifically made it obvious that Giyuu was fighting and keeping up with Sanemi with a chipped sword. I don't know what it says about Giyuu - whether he does a mediocre job protecting his sword right away (hehe Akaza fight), or that when he DOES fail to protect his sword, he comes out stronger on the other side, matching up with his opponent even with a chipped/broken sword.

But why do his swords get fucked in the first place??? (well TECHNICALLY, it's just foreshadowing-)

I guess it's to show that Giyuu is very, very flexible when it comes to using even a damn broken sword, water breathing and all. Like, hell, he somehow survived Akaza's strongest attack, with a broken sword, a dead calm, and a dream. He ALSO survived getting straight on whipped by Muzan with a broken sword, a dead calm, and a dream. Impressive as hell to me.

And compared to that, his fight against Sanemi wasn't an ALL OUT. He did manage to break Sanemi's sword, and his own half-broken sword held out until then. I think that takes some insane skill. Perhaps it's why Sanemi enjoyed sparring against Giyuu so much. He knew Giyuu would be able to stand any of his attacks, even with a barely usable sword.

To get into the relationship analysis of all that - he trusts Giyuu. He knows Giyuu is strong, and that makes Giyuu's demeanour even more infuriating. Someone as strong as Giyuu MUST have some superiority complex, right? Not like Giyuu does anything to fight the allegations either. I rarely use the anime for reference, but Sanemi was a little too angry at being interrupted by Tanjirou.. wasn't he? He absolutely was having fun against Giyuu. AND IT MAKES ME SAD THAT WE DID NOT GET MORE MOMENTS OF THEM FIGHTING TOGETHER OR AGAINST EACH OTHER.

It does make me wonder though, if Giyuu was a "use anything at your disposal" kind of fighter to the extent of Sanemi... how much stronger would he be? I don't think he needs the extra strength, considering he's already, y'know, a damn good fighter, but oh we'd see some crazy moments with him.

Everyone wondering how it would be a Phoenix and Lang interaction. I personally like to think that Phoenix very first and deliberate thought would be a remark on Lang's big chest, i know well my professional freak

I really like the contrast of Shi-Long's introduction in comparison to those of most other rivals that he's not the one who gets advertised to us as oh so famous and scary and what-not (he is famous in his field but that's not what the game focuses on for his introduction) but that he's the one who's heard "a great deal" about Miles before meeting him and is so eager to get to know him. That line alone has so much undercurrent of possible implications and I love the different kind of mystery this creates by already establishing this personal interest between rival and protagonist but without the player knowing the exact why of it. It makes for such an interesting introductory dynamic that no other rival has.

(I also love the implication that Shi-Long can just insert himself in domestic cases and nobody does anything about it. He does have a reason but that has literally nothing to do with the kidnapping and he still leads the investigation on that case.)

English not being my first language is a real struggle because i never communicate properly what i really want to express because of my lack of lexic and my posts feel like im repeating over and over again using the same words or expressions 😭 English is such a rich language with tons of specific words for things, i get surprised when i find out how there is a word for a specific matter that can describe perfectly what im trying to say

Sanegiyuu is not enemies to lovers

I have been in this fandom for a while and a big misconception I keep reading for this ship is that it falls under the enemies to lovers trope, and it pisses me off how easily people can misconcept a whole ship because etl is a popular trope.

First, because its self contradictory —they cant't be enemies when they are in the same side, they are fighting demons and their main goal is to kill Muzan, they are HASHIRAS for a reason— so the trope falls apart to begin with. Moreover people just assume they are enemies because they hate each other, which is a clear (and unfortunately very common) misconception of their relationship, first of all because its one-sided (Giyuu does not hate Sanemi at all, on the contrary he wants to be friends with him, he just thinks he is hotheaded) and Sanemi's hatred towards Giyuu is a minsunderstanding, he hates his perception of Giyuu, the 'i am different from the rest of you' which the reader knows he didn't say that with that intention —quite the opossite, actually. (And Giyuu is canonically horrible at communication and frequently his words doesnt match to what he truly thinks, hence you have to understand why Sanemi would jump to that conclusion, and why other hashiras have had a negative comment related to his attitude).

Heck, once the misunderstanding is cleared at the end of the story, we see them smiling at each other and eating out together, something that would not happen if they hated each other as much as the fandom depict them to be (and again, this reinforces the fact that Sanemi hated Giyuu only because of his own impression, once he understood Giyuu's true self we see them enjoying each other's presence).

Just a little rant because i hate the 'sanegiyuu is enemies to lovers' because its both a misconception and mischaracterization, and diminishes their complex relationship and development throughout the manga, leading to people dislike/hate sngy or inviting the haters to take it as an opportunity to spread it further because the fandom will take it for granted rather than using critical thinking skills, both creating a false image of what its truly sngy about (as in people just taking the "enemies" part as a fact to have a solid reason to hate on it, not because they are interested on a queer ship considering how homophobic this fandom is). It's not like its very difficult to understand it but either people are lacking media literacy (very common in the kny fandom) or they just want to shove the etl trope into a ship because for some reason every fandom got a fixated ship where they throw all their misconceptions to make this trope fit/work even though they dont know the implications of what it truly makes them enemies.

If i were the one to give sanegiyuu/giyuusane a trope, miscommunication is the one that fits them better and the most painfully obvious i would say.

Sorry for the rant but i had to get this off my chest, i hate when people say they ship it and it turns out they dont understand neither the ship or the characters but an idea of what they would like them to be instead 😭 also i know there is people who take it as a joke or make their own AUs with this trope, which is okay! but i dont think associating etl as the main trope for sanegiyuu catches (realistically) their relationship in canon

I strongly believe Kay uses brainrot language and Lang plays along because 1. He is just like that 2. It pisses Edgeworth off and its funny (this also applies to Trucy & Beanix to Apollo)

Since phones exist in canonverse, I have the headcanon that Shinobu and Mitsuri were the first hashiras to add each others numbers to their phones (not like every other hashira uses them but still) and talk when they cant see each other, they spend all their free time gossiping or just to catch up with each other.

They think its more efficient and faster than writing letters and wait for their crows to send it + they love hearing each other's voices
