A bunch of important characters from the DnD campaign that I finished running last month
Of course, as is the RPG way, my players favorite character does not appear here, because he was a lizard farmer who appeared in one session

Currencies of some of the countries of Korvina.
E: WITH THE LORE
Gold is one of the most valuable substances on Korvina, not only for its beauty and rarity, but because of it’s unique ability to store magic. All metals and gems that are considered precious can do this, but none so well as gold. As a result traders the world over will accept gold directly as currency- but most people don’t have access to the metal itself (as it is commonly hoarded by governments and magic users alike) and so use other things as currency instead.
North Acean- The halflings of the swamp have no need of something as heavy as gold, and instead trade strings of pearls. As a general rule, a boat is considered worth a string that runs from bow to stern.
South Acean- The emperor mints coins of jade and silver, which are valuable in their own right for their own magical properties- but these coins usually only manage to circulate between the upper class and in cities- out in more rural areas people trade squares of silk between them- though they function more as IOU notes than a true currency.
Siyenna- The magical colleges of Siyenna hold first claim to the gold in the kingdom, so instead the High King mints bills. Their worth is tied not to gold, but to the undead, as in theory you can trade in bills to the local low king in exchange for an undead servant. Those who refuse to accept the rule of the Kings instead trade salt- valuable as a seasoning and as a preservative.
Cuyacor- The dragons hoard all precious metals that enter the kingdom and exchange it for stone scales.
Tuldane- Though they use gold and silver, each city state has it’s own mint and differing ideas of the purity of metal that should go into each coin.
Verdan- Iron doesn’t hold magic as well as gold or silver, but has it’s own value as material for weapons, armor and tools. Blacksmiths also function as the mints and banks, and depositing your money means having it turned into something useful.
3 Crowns Mountains- Metal and stone are abundant in the mountains and so the thing that is minted as currency is leather. It’s value assigned by the type of animal the leather came from, and the stamp given by the leather smith.
Junica-  The kenku trade bones- the bones of birds are worth more than the bones of animals that dwell on the ground, and predatory birds are worth the most of all birds. However, killing a bird is a considerable crime- the bones must be found and blessed by a shaman before they have worth
Ganale, Oswye,  Bascal, Sidony, and The Deadlands don’t have unified or centralized governments and so tend to use the barter system- though they also value gold for it’s own sake. Of note are the pirates of Bascal, who tend to collect the currencies of other coastal countries as they raid ships.

Some Fauna
Devilgator- Top predators of the swamps of Acean, these gators can grow to enormous sizes. They are also quite intelligent, and at extremely large sizes will usually make a deal with a nearby settlement (or two) to exchange food for protection.
Vulture Gryphon- The first of many breeds of gryphon, this particular variety seems to favor carrion over hunting. They are also one of the more easy-going breeds, only attacking the most destructive or clueless of creatures that wander into their nests. Dwarven breeders describe them as “Lazy, and useless for work of any kind. Cute, though.”
Ghost Shrimp- Theyre shrimp and they float in the air and glow which is cool as shit. Native to Cuyacor but they take well to anywhere they’re introduced because they think theyre in the water.
Mole Wurm- These desert dwelling arthropods are prized for their irredecent shells, which are popular in jewelry making. Also popular with alchemists is the acid that they spray at would be attackers, which makes harvesting either commodity a pain.
Grogoi- These beasts of burden are occasionally used as mounts by the riders of Oswye, they are not particuarly fast but can move for long periods of time without rest. Their tough underbellies are free of fur as a way to regulate body temperature. They are also a common mount in Siyenna, where their corpses are resurrected and used to haul- these are known colloquially as “bone dogs”.

I had the absolute pleasure to work on Lost Spheres Publishing’s title City of 7 Seraphs. This being one example of the world I contributed too.
Amethyst Angel of the Eternal Dawning “We had fled. Our world poisoned and its magic failing. Our gods lost to us. We had fled into the Dark. Our ancestors had known the Lattice and we traveled its lengths. We sought for days without number finding others who were Lost. But when we saw it, a storm of color and light above a City of Wings, we knew we had found home…”

world building wednesday: GIVE ME 5 elf facts
1) These are some low metablolism boys. Theyre basically heterothermic and spend a lot of time in the sun so that they can function like people. It means they live a long time though. Also they sleep in piles to conserve heat
2)Speaking of sleep its like a religious thing to them? When they sleep all elves have the same dream. Usually its a vague dreamspace where they can all sort of communicate, but sometimes its weird omens and stuff like that.
3) There’s no one main nation of elves! When they were made there were kinda placed all over the world and though theyved tried to form nations in the past nothing has ever worked out. They just integrate into the communities they live in.
4) Elves used to be born by walking out of the woods fully formed but after the gods got kicked out they had to adapt and basically made a deal so that they would reproduce like humans do. Sometimes they just get born without any sex characteristics though because of their heritage.
5) In some places they’ll practice ritual canniballism because it allows the transfer of important memories (some of which can be 1000s of years old because they keep being passed down)

Sonagii, the Sterling Flame: The first spirit to create. Made fire, and holds domain over heat, both above and below.
Korvina, the Lurking Hearth: Created a layer of stone and soil over Sonagii’s fire, protecting the life that would eventually be grown above from the fires below.
Nyselggon, The Watching Seas: Created rain and filled in the deepest valleys that Korvina left when creating the land. Domain over rain and the oceans.
Silsovan, the Sleeping Skies: Made the sky, to protect the things that lived below from the chaos outside
Sonagii grew jealous of the spirits above them, and placed an orb of fire in the sky. It is said that every night Silsovan grow tired of the heat and destroys it, only to have Sonagii put it back the next morning.
