My "Other Best Male Friend" (hereafter "OBMF") gave me the nickname of "Contessa." I have something in common with one countess -- the Countess of Nerole. She and I both favor the scent of orange blossoms. At one masquerade my OBMF threw, I went as the Comtesse des Feuilles (she was better known as Jane Austen's cousin). Finally, in a novel I wrote, which has yet to be published, the protagonist is also a countess. Hence, my choice of the name, "Knitting Countess." I have been knitting since I was 20, and I am even designing. Don't look for my designs in INTERWEAVE just yet, however.

I actually visited this particular state for the first time a few months back! I now live in Pennsylvania.
FUN FACT: If you live in Pennsylvania, it is illegal to bring "spiritous elixirs" from Delaware into Pennsylvania! Yes, you can bring them in from anywhere else, but not Delaware! GO FIGURE!
hold on a fucking second. delaware is a state?? i thought it was a river? or is the river more important than the state? why don't i know this? (i should mention i don't like in america, i'm just confused)
there is delaware (state) and delaware (river)
both are equally strange
the state is a tiny little cryptid thing
the rive is a monster that spans new york, pennsylvania, new jersey and delaware. also washington crossed it once and that was like kinda a big deal i guess. like crossing the rubicon in rome.
the state tries to me more important with its “im the first state!!!” bs (seriously its even on the fucking license plates) but we all know. its the river.

Evidently, this must have been one of the [many] books I had to -- regretfully -- cull from my collection. Thank you, Free Library of Philadelphia as well as all libraries everywhere, that continue to carry knitting books! Otherwise, I might not have been able to find this pattern again! (Madeline Weston's "Classic British Knits" was one I had to re-purchase -- second hand -- and I am so THANKFUL that it was available!) So, a cautionary note to all who are "de-accessioning" their private libraries: FIRST: See if the books you must leave behind are replaceable; SECOND: If your space is limited (like mine), find out if they are available in electronic form; THREE: BE ABSOLUTELY SURE YOU WILL NOT NEED ANY OF THE PATTERNS IN THE BOOKS YOU GET RID OF!

Please come take a look at my works on my Instagram (robiambros) or my Facebook Page (AmbrosCrochet); it might not seem like it, but it makes the biggest difference to me when people leave me a like/follow there as well :)

Mrs Margaret Roberts, Llanuwchllyn, looking fantastic at 101 years old and knitting socks in the Bala area, c.1939. The picture shows her knitting needles and the hook she used to hold the wool on her lap.
