I finally got around to adding the right side flap to my gambeson. It’s square for now but when I’m finished quilting the lines I’m going to shape the front a bit differently than the left side.
Tumblr media
The first line turned out really good, I then fixed the neck line.
Tumblr media
I worry the inside looks better than the outside it’s infuriating.

Some progress on my gambeson upgrade.
Tumblr media
It was super rough in the beginning.

Once I started doing the edge work the shape started to improve.

Here’s a look at the arming cap with some chain mail over it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seeing it together brings a smile to my face. It’s comfortable with out being as hot, my three layer arming cap is better for winter wear.

Both sides finally sewn together, now all that’s left is to put trim on the edges.

Progress on an arming cap for a coif, I’m going off one I already have. Making a pattern for it was easy, figuring out the steps to sew it in is much harder.
Tumblr media
It’s turning out better than I could have hoped.

Progress on a chainmail hauberk, it will split in the back and overlap. 4 leather straps will hold it together.

The start of a coif. Starts with a center ring expanding to 13 rings, from there it splits and doubles.
Tumblr media
Eventually it splits again, and again until it’s shaped like a Bennie.

Almost finished coif I plan to add leather cord weaving on the bottom edge.

I’m currently thinking about splitting open the front for ease of use. It has plenty of room for a layover front with buckle strapping.
