All my ‘Daughters of Persephone’ art in one post. (Should of done this sooner to be honest)
Since I first posted my women only marine chapter, ‘The Daughters of Persephone’ a little while back, I have blocked about 30+ people who have stopped by to call me names, tell me I am ruining the hobby, yell ‘NOT CANON! or ‘Heresy’ like that’s a real thing, or dole out to biggest pile of circular logic and gish gallop I have seen in a long time.
I have seen forums that wont allow the topic for the inevitable incoherent screams and hot tears that these rational, logical, unemotional folk inevitability spill over the very idea of it being mentioned. As if to even whisper it, is to risk GW hearing it, and woe what if that give them ideas…
The entire mess is an sad cliche and indictment of nerd culture.
But ultimately, the thing that weirds me out is this. Why you think that here, on my personal blog, I would give a damn about any angry messages I receive.
I make art for the people who do like this stuff, if that’s not you, good for you, there’s the door.
I really don’t care.
Inevitably this post will also garner hate, that seems to be the way it goes, some people will always hate change, and some people will always frame the compassionate as the enemy, and some will even go the extra mile to ascribe dark conspiratorial motives to the actions of others rather then look in the mirror and ask ‘Are we the baddies?’
The motive at this point matters little to me. I will continue to make and share the art that I want to see in the world. To be the change I want to see happen.
I always aim to be a better person, to enrich rather then destroy, to be inclusive rather then restrictive. If one person smiles because they see themselves in my art, then both are lives are richer for it.
If you don’t personally like my work or its message, try moving on, go enjoy the things you do like rather then getting bogged down in impotent hate.

Round 2/3 In typical fashion I forgot to take pictures after game 1 which was a shame as my opponents had beautiful armies. My second game was against Tau. A real doozy of list focusing on multiple small units and marker buffs. This game ended in a draw with me securing win on tertiary win conditions. My third game was against Tyranids. Featuring a swarm lord and tyrant guard. My Land raider with astral aim dominated this game not allowing my opponent to hide anything. Swarm lord lost his tyrant guard right away and a hiding tervigons was imediatly destroyed as well. I finished the tournament in second place going 3-0-0.

Life altering decision right here.
The colour you paint the plasma coils on your 40k minis is as crucial a decision as what colour your lightsaber should be or what colour your rail shots were in Quake 3. It’s personal and meaningful.
That being said if you just paint them silver you’re a fucking monster and don’t deserve plasma guns. They fire tiny suns make them ✨glow✨

Round one saw me face off against this beautiful Tyranid army. The mission was to hold as many of four objectives as possible and that as the imperial player in this battle I would be going second.
I started out trying to hide most at the back of the table hoping that limited visibility would keep them alive. This paid off and I lost no units in the first shooting phase. A Trygon Prime with Genestealer and rippers appeared on my flank. But the Trygon and stealers failed their charge while the rippers were killed on the charge by the Dread Knights incinerator.
Most of the games action was in that corner with the two Dread Knights fending off the bulk of the Tyranid forces while the Landraider put work in by using astral aim to pick off Old One eye and wound other targetsas they try to run around.
The game ended with a decisive victory for me holding 3 objectives to my opponents 0.

RE: that 40k threadpocalypse about representation in Warhammer 40k (with all apologies to @petepaintswarhammer for me helping make it the Literal Wall Of Text that it became, which is why this is it’s own post)
The funny thing to me is whenever anyone yells “FORCED DIVERSITY.” Like. Think about it a moment. This isn’t even a medium where a concept like that even makes sense.
All the people on the pro-diversity side of things want is one thing: More models that include more representation. (More inclusion in the lore would be amazing too, and would probably come as a side-benefit to diversifying the models since at this point it feels like the lore is mostly just GW’s way to push that plastic out the door). That’s mostly it. Plastic Sisters, female and non-white head options for Marines, overall more sculpts for Guard and Tau (as far as Xenos go, Eldar and Dark Eldar seem to be okay with women in their troops, but more named characters would be nice), stuff like that.
“Forced diversity” makes it sound like we’re going to force GW to force everyone to build their armies diverse. Which, like, no. You want your boring, all white dude army, build it yourself. We just want options besides that without having to pay for 3rd party stuff. Hell, GW does this, and their avenues for making money only go up, as it starts cutting in on those 3rd party markets, and more money for GW means more incentive for them to come out with more angry spacepeoples that everyone loves to put together and paint.
Like, this isn’t even like comics (though the “forced diversity” argument is still laughable there), where you at least had a leg to stand on. “This title’s all SJW crap! It’s my only option if I want to read about these characters!” Alright, I see your point there. Shitty point, you’re an awful person, but still. “Someone else is building an army using first party parts to make women and brown people!” Not infringing on your ability to make whatever army you want, shitstain. Thus, not forced diversity.
If GW opening avenues to allow customers even more flexibility in building their army how they want honestly offends you to the point that it makes you want to leave the game, please do. More angry spacepeoples for the rest of us.

Last weekend I attended a 1500 point tournament. The scoring was a bit different with no prize for best general but included battle points in best overall. My list was based on Grand Master Voldus bringing a strike force to hunt down Magnus (though no one brought a primarch) 1500p Spear Head HQ Voldus Over the tournament I had varying success with Voldus. He died in one game after being mostly innefectual and I the other two he barely made his presence known. Elite Paladins This unit suffered the same problems as Voldus. Barely making a dent in any game. They fell in battle every game. Apothecary He was a beast. With the Curass of Sacrifice he was nigh unkillable surviving in every game he was the only model who managed to achieve that feat. Though he never managed to cast vortex of doom. Troops Strike Squad I took a full 10 man unit for survivability and to lay down some impressive fire power onto horde units. This squad did not disappoint. The ability to teleport onto the battle fuel coupled with gate of infinity meant I always had a strike squad where I needed it. Heavy support Land Raider I chose the basic raider for its firepower and ability to transport my terminators. It was the work horse of my army only during on the final turn of my first game. It was partnered with a Dread knight casting astral aim on it ensuring my raider was always firing on the target I needed it too. Dread Knights Both knights filled the same role. Survive and kill the big stuff. Two Knights may have been overkill but I would not have won some of those games had it not been for these two working in tandem. Next post will be break downs of the games!

It's nice to see GW recognizes the lack of representation.
Good job GW. A step in the right direction. Keep at it, all of you.

Primaris Intercessor - “Sons of Samus” custom chapter. I’ve always wanted to figure out this color scheme on a Space Marine and the new primaris models seemed like a good fit. Base is from Sector Imperialis and the kroot skull is from the recent “box of skulls” set.
This custom chapter was named after a long-deceased individual that hunted an entire species of parasitic xenos organisms to extinction, though specific information on the life and times of the individual have long since been lost.

I'm slowly getting there. The right side of the raider is done except lens's and lights. I started the left side this morning. Only a few days to go until the tournament and I'm pretty sure I'll finish. I do need to go back through my army and make sure my bolted holes are all drilled out.

I've started work on my land raider. Unfortunately I built it poorly so I got some nasty gaps... I would fix these but I don't have time. I only have 6 days to finish this model before the tournament on Saturday. I played another game this afternoon. It was a 2000 point version of the list I'm taking to the tournament. My opponent brought a ynarri (is that how its spelt?)army. He had lots of small transports and highly specialized soldiers... as eldar would. I managed too luck out scoring some easier victory points and pulled off a win. I was not expecting to pull this game off as my opponent made a insanely strong list. Most of his army was untouched and it really was playing for objectives that saved me. Sorry about the lack of pictures I forgot to take any. 4-0-0

And all rebased. The models really do look vastly better on the new base size. It was deffinatly worth buying a base pack. I will be rebasing my purifiers next I think.

Getting better at that lava effect. Can’t wait to eventually have the whole army on fitting bases.

Today I finished up my Apothecary. He turned out well but the pictures don't really do him justice. One big change compared to the rest of my nights is I added yellow to the force weapon. This just added an extra bit of POP that my weapons didn't have before.... this also means I will be repainting all my force weapons. Yay... Also on the topic of repainting. I need to start rebasing. It's been almost 3 years since space marines were upgraded to 32mm bases. Despite my army being built and based before the upgrade I feel the time limit is now up on rebasing this army to proper base sizes. I will not be rebasing the whole army at once but a tactical squads worth a month sounds reasonable to me. I just don't feel right having smaller bases anymore especially since Grey knights come on 32mm now and have been for quite a while.

I got to play a couple games today. First up was against Tau. This game I was excited for as I was playing against an opponent who was using an old army of mine he purchased from me a few weeks ago. It’s great to see those old models seeing some table. The game started well for me but the Tau started gain momentum back on turn 2 by wiping out my paladins to a man. It also started to look from when my Dreadknight refused to damage the devilish that was tieing him up from holding his objective. Luckily though the toughness and versatility of the grey knights won out and I was able to secure a victory 8vp - 4.
My most inspired play was teleporting an Apothecary beside my strike squad to cast vortex of doom on my enemy’s unit blob. Then I used the gate of infinity from the strike squad to teleport that same apothecary back to his paladin squad mates.
My second game was a kill points game against orks. While I don’t have pictures the game was pretty one sided. I had a solid strategy and divided my opponents army through deployment reserves. It let the bulk of my army deal with half of his before the others could make it. My opponent conceded turn 3 after 80%of his army was crushed under Dreadknight heels.
