Hi! as someone who lives in a very homophobic country myself, I would like just to say that what's happening in Poland is very disheartening and frightening. be strong!

I do believe that years from now kids will learn about the legalization of same sex marriages in 2010s+ and the reaction will be the same as when they hear about women gaining rights to vote or POC finaly being recognized as equal humans (I know there's still so much to fight for, I know women are still completely oppressed in many countries and POC still struggle to be treated equally, in this case I look at the milestones, still recognizing how much is still left to do), I just KNOW they will hear about all of it in the classroom and they will say "what?! they were not seen as equal until that time?!?". That makes all the fights, all discussions with assholes, all speaking out and standing out for myself worth it.

Hey, is there anything we can do to help the people in Poland hurt at the pride attacks? Do they need donations, maybe for their hospital fees? How can we help? This is so awful.

Hospital fees were covered by our obligatory national health insurance, so there’s no need to worry about that, thank you for asking!! Also, the organisation behind this Pride Parade provides psychologists’ support to everyone who participated and currently suffers from anxiety, panic attacks, etc., or is in general need of it.

📢 Donations for Białystok LGBT+ community are accepted through facebook’s charity payment platform, here.Each 1 dollar is almost 4pln, each 1 euro is more than 4pln - so if you could donate just that, it would be a lot!! Here’s a brilliant addition to my original post in which you can find links to all of our Polish LGBT+ organisations (just scroll down). Some of them accept direct donations via bank transfer, and I believe, provide specific instructions on how to fill the forms so that they can be taxed properly.

Polish newspaper "gazeta poska" which is strongly connected to the government (receiving donations) is going to distribute "lgbt free zone" stickers. They look surprisingly familiar...what can it be...? Oh yeah

W: And what couples can make a “good” adoption?

J: I’m asking about homosexual couples adopting children, because when we look at the statistics…

W: Sir, in Poland, most… well, not most but many children are raised by a same-sex couple: their mother and grandmother.

J: Well, I can’t deny that, but regarding sexual assaults on children by homosexual couples, any comment?

W: I didn’t witness that. But I did witness sexual assaults done by priests. *walks away like a boss*

hi! I’m from the US and I really want to help the Polish lgbtq+ community in light of what happened at the pride parade, but I don’t know how. do you know of any charities or resources we can donate to that’ll support Polish lgbtq+ individuals?

Here's my correspondence with "Tęczowy Białystok", a organization that organized the march. I will paste the whole conversation here so you can copy and translate for yourself and be sure it's real. 😇

On yesterday's first pride in my home city the marchers (me and my close friend included) were attacked by the group of extremist far-right with stones, eggs, flares, bangers and, of course, lots and lots of slurs. I was spat on and I still consider myself lucky, people ended in hospitals after getting beaten after the pride. It was a scary place.

I really hope it won't be overlooked.

We won't "get they fuck out".

No number of "hunting for fags" will stop us from being, living and loving. (yes. this happened yesterday. right after the march fascist chanted that they will "hunt for fags" and so they did, there's a video of 3 grown ass men beating and kicking a guy not older than 15, one kicked him in the face)

Oh and, and some facts

- The numbers. There was about 1 thousand people at the pride and 3 thousand opposing. Football hooligans (VERY aggressive group in Poland) from the whole country came to Białystok just for this

- There were about 74 events planned just to stop the march. Only 1-3 of them were accepted by the local government

- The church thanked the protesters from "defending family values"

- The minister of education said its all the fault of the fact that prides are taking place

@therealjacksepticeye today in Białystok in Poland there was a pride parade and many agressive homophobes showed up, they threw flares and bottles at LGBTQ+ people Participants of the march were also beaten up Ambulances were going like crazy Its all over news I just wanted to let more people know about whats going on here Maybe someone will be able to help and if not its still more eyes on the problem and thats what we need the most right now

if any of you went to Białystok Pride today (20.07.2019) - apparently nationalists were taking photos of people who participated in the march so that “they can finish what they started” (by chasing and beating people up, throwing things at them, maybe even killing them) - so please stay safe, i hate that i have to say this because we should be allowed to simply exist without having to fear some piece of shit will come and murder us in cold blood for not being cishet, or maybe even “not looking straight”, but be careful. buy pepper spray if you can and carry it with yourselves. use your self-defense skills or start going to classes if you have money for that. take care of each other. we can’t let them win.

Please read it and reblog people have to hear about what happened today. There are videos of nationalists beating people (teenagers) just because they were walking nearby or throwing firecrackers. These are the people that our president was willing to go side by side during the independence day. - The church in Bialystok thanked the protesters from "defending family values" but later explained that is was written before the actual pride (the episcopal conference condemned the attacks)

- The minister of education (Dariusz Piontkowski) said its all the fault of the fact that prides are taking place (this man said that lgbt wants to sexualize children)

-A few days before Gazeta Polska added "space free from LGBT" stickers to one of their issues
