Wylan being enraptured by the "extremely rare" butterflies and the intricacies of their ecosystem and then mercilessly handing them out like doritos is the most hilarious representation of the duality of his character

Do we know why Malcolm claimed he learned about Annabel’s death from a faerie? Or is this another plot hole? I genuinely can’t remember and the wiki is giving me no answers.

now that i know what the original ending was supposed to be, i’m so happy cassie changed it. this ending might be a little too happy and unrealistic but honestly, after all the pain in the tsc universe, i love that she spared us the detailed death of basically everyone in tlh and the pain of james being in his death bed and thinking about his long lost friends

When you remember that Charles had a better reaction to Christopher’s death than everyone else (besides Thomas and Anna)
And then you remember that Kit took the dagger for Cordelia and then Intermission: Grief was literally her POV about James being in Edom
Ah yes thats what irks me
girly someone died for you HELP

What bound them together? Greed? Desperation? Was it just the knowledge that if one or all of them disappeared tonight, no one would come looking?
It was Jesper who spoke first. “No mourners,” he said with a grin. “No funerals,” they replied in unison. - Six of Crows

Maybe I’m crazy but I’m CHOT it felt like the only time Tessa talked was to chide Will?? I just don’t understand the point of having her present in the scene at all if she isn’t going to be an active part
To be honest I don’t even remember anything about Tessa in this book which may prove your point 💀 I vaguely remember Tessa running out after Cordelia at one point but that’s about it….?
But to be fair, none of the TID characters apart from Will really got enough page time in this book…

Unpopular opinion I'm actually glad Kit has a girlfriend and I hope that Ty get a insignificant other to or couple actually I think it's healthy and it'll help them grow and be prepared for the day when they meet up and become endgame
I actually agree! It would be good for both of them to put what happened behind them and try to move on. It will also make their future reunion all the more dramatic 😎
But I hope that by the time they meet again in TWP and rekindle their romance they won’t both still be in relationships and break up with their significant others to be together - or worse, cheat on them. I really hate that trope in books - they have enough obstacles to overcome as it is.

If at the end of TWP we find out that TMI, TDA, and TWP were actually all just Lucie’s fanfiction and none of that actually really happened, I’m going to throw something heavy I swear to god—
i feel like i haven’t seen anyone bring this up, but at the end of chot when when we find out the title of the book lucie wants to publish before she gets married has “the wicked powers” in the title and jesse says she should probably shorten the title, i almost threw my book and had to take a breather.

I don’t exactly remember the epilogue, but I’m pretty sure there were a lot of people in the cp2 epoilogue who shouldn’t be there according to TLH - like Barbara? Or Cecily’s “blue eyed boys”?
So I’m not really sure where we stand with that epilogue, and if it’s even supposed to still be canon- CC could always say some characters came back there as ghosts or something like that…?
Hear me out: James was supposed to die in ChoT
Not sure if someone has already said this, but I think James was supposed to die in the original ending of Chain of Thorns.
We all know that this book was supposed to have a much more devastating ending than it did and that CC reworked it because it was too sad.
And that whole thing with the paladin’s sword being able to heal the wounds it inflicted came completely out of nowhere. It was revealed in a really odd manner, and by Lilith herself - why would she even tell Cordelia that? I think it was added as an afterthought (as did so many parts of this book) and that James was initially supposed to sacrifice himself to kill Belial, but this time die in the process.
Continuation of the Herondale line would not be an issue - Cordelia would have already been pregnant by the time he died. (Why else would she let them finally confess their feelings and fix the miscommunications halfway through the book instead of the second to last chapter?). And they were married, so Cordelia was officially a Herondale, and so the child would get the Herondale name as well.
This would have also made the love triangle somewhat less pointless, because I believe we’d then also see Matthew stepping up to take care of Cordelia as a pregnant widow after James’ death, and later marrying her.
Finally, CC has never killed off a main character before so it would definitely have been a shocker. And it would explain why Tessa always recalls the TLH time period with great pain.

Matthew x Esme Hardcastle? 👀
My biggest desire is for Matthew to just get a wonderful but balls-to-the-walls insane love interest. Like, I want him to make himself better so he can thrive, but I want them to make him worse in all the best possible ways so he can thrive even more. The only thing that could make a Matthew bindup even better than its inherent greatness is if Matthew became half of the most chaotic fucking duo known to man.

Oooh imagine— the last of the novellas could be about Matthew’s trip to faerie, and then coming back out to the real world in TWP era
streets are saying Matthew was originally supposed to end up getting lost in the faerie lands
this is a really interesting concept and I feel like I’ve heard it before but can someone explain more about this theory?
#that would be iconic#except it will never happen#tumblr theories always make the actual book pale in comparison and chot is the best example of that by far
