🚨 We Need Your Kindness to Survive 🚨
Hello, My name is Mosab Elderawi, and I live in Gaza with my family. Life here has become harder than I ever imagined, and I’m writing this with hope in my heart that you might hear our story.
The ongoing war has devastated my family. We’ve lost 25 family members—each one a beloved part of our lives, taken too soon. I miss them deeply—their laughter, their presence, their love. Every day is a reminder of this unimaginable loss.

We are now facing daily challenges to survive—things that most people take for granted, like food, clean water, and a safe place to sleep. The harsh realities of life here have replaced our dreams with the constant fight for survival.
Our Current Situation:
💔 Lost Stability: The war has left us without work or a stable source of income. 🍞 Basic Needs: Food and water are becoming harder to afford with rising prices and scarce resources. 📚 Dreams on Hold: Like so many here, my family’s dreams have been replaced by the need to simply survive. 😢 Unimaginable Loss: Losing 25 loved ones has left a void that can never be filled.
How You Can Help:
I’m sharing our story with the hope that someone out there might care. Even $5 can make a big difference for us, and if you’re unable to donate, just reblogging this post can help spread the word.
Your kindness, no matter how small, is something we’ll never forget.
What This Means to Us:
Your support is not about changing our entire situation—it’s about giving us a little relief, a little hope, and a way to keep going. We are not asking for much, and we understand if you can’t donate. Sharing our story is just as valuable to us as a donation.
Thank you for reading this far. It means the world to us to know that someone is listening. Your kindness gives us strength and helps us believe in a better tomorrow.
With all our gratitude, Mosab Elderawi and Family ❤️

💌 i hope this doesnt find you !
a social media au | scaramouche x gender neutral reader
synopsis you were perfect on paper: school captain, one of the top students, cocaptain of the volleyball team, and a “pleasure to have in class.” it wasn’t easy to be such a model student, especially when you were competing against scaramouche, your rival since you both could barely talk. his competitive streak has annoyed you ever since you were kids, especially since you were working so hard to keep your scholarship while he flashed around his family’s money every other day. but the trick to keeping your sanity was to channel your frustrations into your email drafts. you’d never send them of course, the people pleaser in you would rather die than hurt someone’s feelings. all of your intensely worded emails were usually directed to scaramouche, your annoying cocaptain. you never have to hold back in your emails, because nobody will ever read them. that is, until they’re accidentally sent out. overnight your carefully crafted life is turned upside down now that everyone knows what you truly think of them. but amidst the chaos, there’s one person who grows to appreciate the real you: scaramouche, the only person you’ve sworn to hate.
genre college au, enemies to lovers, academic rivals
warnings time stamps don’t matter, characters including y/n are portrayed as young adults, mentions of alcohol, nsfw

ALL I READ WAS “Long legs, short shorts, exposed midriff, leaning against a car, giggling. Leaning out the window is Rin, smiling and laughing along. you blink a couple times, just to make sure you're seeing things correctly. It’s been two days and Rin is already moving on from the kiss you shared.” AND I SCREAMED. then i had to cleanse myself by scrolling on tiktok. i have to reread this later
DRIVEN BY ADRENALINE suna rintarou. chapter 007 ; long legs, short shorts.
২ 𓂅 ࣪ ೨ ; 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐃 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓 (596)
২ 𓂅 ࣪ ೨ ; 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 (when i was writing this i was lowkey cringing so um yeah, short, car crashes, angst AGAIN, running away, miscommunication but thats not revealed yet LMAO)
You don’t know why you showed up here. When you first came with Runa, you felt out of place. You were embarrassed for no reason and you were scared. And that was with Runa.
Now, though, you walk past the cars, alone. There are less people looking at you because now they know you’re part of Rin’s crowd, but some of them whisper as you walk past. You swallow hard and put your head down.
You’re not even sure if Rin is racing tonight, but there’s no doubt he’ll be here. You make sure to steer clear of where he’s usually parked. Runa had left before you this evening, so she doesn’t know you’re here either. This is a bad idea and you know it.
You walk past the start line and a familiar laugh catches your attention. Without even meaning to— or wanting to— your head turns in the direction. The sight before you makes you want to throw up.
Long legs, short shorts, exposed midriff, leaning against a car, giggling. Leaning out the window is Rin, smiling and laughing along. you blink a couple times, just to make sure you're seeing things correctly. It’s been two days and Rin is already moving on from the kiss you shared.
Hot tears sting at the back of your eyes. You look away just as fast as you had looked at them. You should leave. You don’t want to be here anymore. But.
Rin revs his engine and you peek back over at him. The girl he was talking to is gone, now standing in front of the cars, holding a piece of fabric. You stop walking and wait.
The girl brings her hand down and both of the cars are off. You don’t recognize the other car— lime green with yellow stripes on the side of it. You think it’s tacky, but as it takes off, you can’t help but be impressed at its speed.
And then, seemingly, the world begins to move in slow motion. You can almost hear the way Rin shifts the gear stick. He turns a corner too fast and—
His car hits the wall. Full speed.
The gasp you let out is loud, but muffled in your own ears. Murmurs spread throughout the crowd. The damn that was holding your tears back burst. One hot tear slides down your cheek.
There’s a group of people rushing towards the car and you think you see Runa, but you can’t move. The car door opens and Rin stumbles out, cradling his arm to his chest. He turns and looks back at his car— his beloved car. The side of it is totaled, smoke coming from the side of it.
The crowd of people surround him, a ways away from the car. Your feet are like cement blocks. There’s a feeling coursing through your body, making you tingle. You can’t quite place it. Fear? Worry? Horror? All of the above, you think.
You glance around you, noticing you’re basically alone, and your chest aches. You wipe your hands off on the pants of your legs, letting out a shaky breath.
You need to leave. You have to leave. You look back at the car crash one last time before you turn. Staring right into your soul, is Rin. A shiver shoots down your spine.
You turn and run. Your chest heaves, your legs burn, but you don’t stop. You can’t stop.
Runa was right. Rin’s lifestyle is dangerous. He’s a street racer. Everytime he gets in that car, he may never come back out.

01; harvest moon
[104 / WHEN WE WERE STRANGERS] recommended songs; Harvest Moon / 誰かの世界 / Sibelius Symphony No.6
July and August were the most unbearable.
Heat would crawl up his back and gnaw into his bones, sweat would drip from tan skin, and this unmistakable plague of exhaustion would overwhelm his head. With enervation, his hands squished dirty clothes into the communal washing machines. He hated Tokyo, the humid weather rattled with his head, making each task feel an unmeasurable amount more laborious.
A trail of soft taps against the wooden floor caught his attention. Curiously, he glanced behind him.
Iwaizumi had never seen this girl before, clad in a white tank top and black shorts that just reached her mid-thigh. He recognised the melody of the piece she’s humming before he recognised her. Regardless, he noticed the stark smell of incense and tobacco that lingered outside the open door of his neighbour’s apartment waft around her.
“Sorry,” she mumbled, pushing past him while clutching a laundry basket.
She looked concentrated, Iwaizumi lets his gaze travel down the curvature of her slender neck, taking a moment to admire the silver jewellery which it adorned. Something about her demeanour pulled him towards her, words died on his tongue.
She methodically dumped wet clothes into the hamper before standing up and shutting the washing machine door with her sock-clothed foot. The cicadas of summer nights conversed between them, and Iwaizumi couldn’t keep his eyes away from her.
His gaze followed her with intrigue, watching as she travelled up the stairs with her overflowing basket before slamming the laundry machine shut himself. Perhaps an omnipresent figure noticed the shift in his attention, because as his sight broke from her, the unmistakable grief of cracked plastic rattled through the air, followed by an avalanche of clothes falling down wooden staircases.
A curse fell from pink lips, he looked towards her.
“You alright?” His neck craned to find her, picking up stray pieces of clothes and holding them tightly against her chest.
“I’m fine.” She muttered back, arms already full with half the pile still draped along the steps. Iwaizumi let out a soft chuckle, offering his basket with open arms.
Her small, obligatory smile engulfed him, his heart beat faster.
“Thank you, I’ll bring it back once I’ve hung everything up.” She reached for the basket and Iwaizumi practically lurched backwards, almost toppling down the stairs in the process.
“You’re alright, I’ll carry it up for you.” Iwaizumi offered her a small smile, lips widening ever so slightly once she returns it once again, more genuine than before. “Which flat are you?
“102.” She replied absentmindedly, stuffing more clothes into the basket held tightly across the wide expanse of his sweat embellished chest.
“102?” He feigned surprise. Of course, he already figured this out. “I live in 103.” He liked how that catches her attention, unbothered eyes trailing back towards him, furrowing almost endearingly.
“103,” She muttered quietly, almost confused. She let out a small hum, as if in deep thought. “I didn’t think anybody lived there.”
An awkward silence settled between the two of them, her attention scattered from him, clustering to her phone as pearly teeth sank into pigmented skin. Iwaizumi’s eyes trailed reverently over her, almost breathless from the heat, but something else.
Her skin glowed pearlescent from the thin sheen of moisture painting skin, chest rising and falling faster than usual as a method to circulate cool air. Minutes passed, and he tore his gaze away from her, eyes flickering towards the top of the wooden stairs.
“'Scuse me,” Iwaizumi uttered as he pushed past her. Arms brushed past each other, and he could’ve sworn that something in those milliseconds transpired. Their eyes locked once again, he swallowed the lump which had gathered in his throat.
His footsteps were heavy, the staircase creaked under him and the immense weight of the hamper. She shadowed behind him with short, manicured fingernails hovering over the cracked glass of her cellphone, teeth dug into pillowy roseate gums.
“Chamomile?” her voice rung through his head like drizzled honey on fresh, warm bread. “Or I have honey ginger and Valerian instead.”
Iwaizumi’s flat was a simple, white four wall hollow block with a small door leading to his bedroom. Sound travelled far in his living space, echoing through the emptiness.
He had never bothered to decorate the apartment further than the coffee table, couch and houseplant which was gifted by his mother once he had settled in. It was desolate and somewhat miserable, streams of dispersed morning light through linen curtains the only promising aspect of the building. Otherwise, a room with a dim light and nothing else.
He was immediately overwhelmed by the scent of incense, which deluged his body once he took a step into her apartment. Her bedroom was anything but empty. Walls decorated with variable posters, each pressed in with thumbtacks.
Music played throughout her home, making it seem almost lively in its lonesome. It was colourful, piano tucked neatly towards the back of the main area, various sheet music and miscellaneous paper surrounding it.
“Sorry, you said something?” He was broken from his second long trance, viridian fell upon her once again.
“Tea, I asked if you wanted tea.” she leant against the wall, arms crossed as he placed the basket down with care. Iwaizumi took the sliver of a second to admire her under warm light, the silhouette of thin eyelashes illustrated on plump cheeks, his heart hummed.
“Valerian, please.” His eyes descried across her cluttered, but somewhat organised apartment, taking note of every item and photo frame which decorated the room. She was well travelled, souvenir magnets stuck to the fridge and glued there with age. He wondered how long she’d lived here for.
The boiling tea nearly burnt his fingertips, the liquid trailed down his esophagus and left a burning sensation behind, only heightened by the humid weather. She sipped with ease, placing it on the marble counter top before looking up at him again.
It was silent.
“So, you play the piano?” He asked, looking down at her with a faux apathetic expression. In reality, he was clawing at every word which fell from cotton lips, soaking each syllable up as if it were glucose.
“Mhm,” To Iwaizumi, each sound which fell from her were almost reverent. “That, and I wanna start composing too.”
He nods, eyes flickering between her and the piano.
“I remember you used to play Harvest Moon a lot, it became my favourite song.” He didn’t realise how strange that sounded until hours later.
She chuckled lightly, bringing the ornate teacup to her lips once again before teeth tugged at the wet skin,
“Yeah, I haven’t played it in a while.”
Iwaizumi’s lips twisted upwards, teeth digging into his gums as he placed the china into her sink, careful to not let porcelain shatter.
After a couple of moments of quietude passed, Iwaizumi let out a soft sigh and stretched out his back. He didn’t want to leave, but all things end eventually.
“I think I’ll take my leave now, then.” He didn’t miss how she looked up at him, almost surprised for a second.
“I’ll walk you out… Iwaizumi, is it?”
“Haji is fine.”
-
Iwaizumi settled in bed with an almost aerate feeling in his chest, unfamiliar to him. Thin, blue sheets covered his body, cold air blaring at his face as he sighed deeply.
His body relaxed even further once the familiar sound of keys echoed through their shared wall, the chords soothed him in an inexplicable way.
He recognised the sound almost immediately, lips tugging into a tired grin.
(come a little bit closer, hear what i have to say)
It was cold in his bedroom, for the first time in a while. His body melted into the thick mattress, tanned skin curling up against each other as his eyes closed.
(when we were strangers, i watched you from afar)
The moon shone down on his bedroom, the luminescence making everything seem more palatial than it truly was.
(because i’m still in love with you, i want to see you dance again)
His dreams conjured nothing but her, his fingers running down the expanse of her clothed spine, tugging her close. Hajime felt almost content, her skin felt like glazed gold rubbing against him, he let out a deep, assuaged sigh, at peace with himself.
Their organs were one, tied and wrapped around each other as if ivy.

rintarō suna’s guide on how to ruin a friendship, twice
cw ; none for this chapter
𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐦.𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 ᶻ 𝘇 𐰁
preface
upon picking up this book, most people would be wondering, why would anyone ruin a friendship, not once, but twice?
while it’s true that friendships are thought to be unbreakable safe havens, bonds that can withstand the test of time, it’s often the people closest to us that hurt us the most. maybe it’s because we just them to stay that their actions cut us the deepest and hurt us the most.
dear reader, this guide isn’t for the faint of heart. it’s for those who have loved fiercely, perhaps too fiercely to the point of destroying what once was thought to be indestructible. this guide is for those who are looking for second chances, a way to amend the broken, a way to rebuild something stronger.
and if you're lucky—or unlucky—enough, you might just discover that ruining what once was can lead to something far more than friendship.
so, welcome to rintaro suna's guide on how to ruin a friendship, twice. let's get started.
THE SUMMER RINTARŌ SUNA TURNED SIX might have been the most memorable summer of his life.
Maybe it was because it was the first summer he can still fully recall down to the smell of the sweet grass of the field near his house where all the neighborhood kids played, or maybe it was because of the little (h/c) haired girl that moved across the street from him, but either way, it was a summer he’s sure he’ll never forget.
Rintarō Suna has never been an expressive person, even in his youth. Despite many attempts, the most anyone (his family included) could coax out of him would be a sigh or a roll of his eyes. He wasn’t much of a ‘talker’ either, preferring to stay silent and let others steer conversations while he would just nod along, sometimes he’d even throw in a word or two.
The summer after he turned six also turned out to be the summer he learned to become a little more expressive and just a smidge more talkative, all thanks to the little (h/c) haired girl who moved in across the street.
Y/N L/N DIDN’T KNOW MANY PEOPLE in the area she moved to in July of 2010, all she knew was that her father had gotten a new job and her family would have to move.
Moving from one side of Aichi prefecture to the other had some minor consequences: moving houses, changing schools, and making new friends. Y/n L/n loved her friends from her old school, and making friends was always a daunting challenge. Especially when you’re six years old, and starting in the third term as opposed to the first like everyone else.
But for Y/n L/n, it seemed as though making friends was akin to breathing for her. It was almost as if she was a people magnet, drawing others towards her like moths to flames.
And Rintarō Suna was the biggest moth to her flame.

ain't no love; epilogue
— miles g morales x gn!reader series
SERIES SUMMARY: Miles G Morales is just a kid without a father; the Prowler is just a "rotten" vigilante. Both of them start coming into your life one in the middle of the semester, the other by total accident.
SERIES MASTERLIST 📼 ← PART 5 / EPILOGUE
chapter summary: You and Miles share a few months of normalcy. And maybe something new, too.
content/warnings: depictions of miles (whipped) morales
word count: 1.5k
a/n: wahoo we did it guys thank u to @/qiuweyballs forever for proofreading LETS FREAKING GO MAN
"You sure it's five dollars?"
"Four dollars, ninety-nine," the man behind the counter replied, grinning until his eyes were barely visible behind his tinted glasses. "Completely positive, young man."
"Aight, sure. Here."
While Miles was sure the man had definitely stuck another price on top of the original one, he didn't really want to stay in this rickety old comic book store any longer. Miles' hand had gotten kind of sweaty from holding yours by now — not that he minded. It was totally fine that he was also sweaty everywhere else he had skin. When had he gotten this sweaty? He was done with puberty. He was a man. He was your… Uh…
"Are we going?"
Your voice broke his trail of thoughts as his eyes jump from the counter to you. Right. You'd agreed to go out with him. And at the end of this, if he would just stop sweating, maybe you'd go out with him again. And it wouldn't be to Marge's like the first thing he suggested when he was totally out of it before realising that probably wasn't the best place for a date.
"Miles?"
"Oh, yeah, yeah. My bad."
He snatched up the comic book, the man's squinted eyes never leaving him. That head of silvery hair had once been closer to brown, maybe when comic books didn't go for five whole dollars. "NO REFUNDS. EVER." passed him by as he left the store, his hand still in yours, trying so hard to not move but also to get into a less sweaty position. This was the last comic book he'd ever buy, damn it.
It was coming to the start of spring, and that meant the day was a little more ideal for a date. Visions did like to run things a lot more intensely, but you'd finally managed to make it to your next break. The two of you had more time to spend together now that most exams were over, and you'd spent the whole of today going to places that Miles had wanted to show you for a while.
In-between that, there had been a lot of explaining too — to both you and Uncle Aaron. He'd told you everything from the start, even if piece by piece on lunch breaks, or texts, or late night phone calls that you somehow managed to pick up regardless of the time. He told you how he'd gotten into Visions, why he was "so good at math" it annoyed you. He told you what happened to his dad, who his uncle was, what his Prowler gig was. He told you about college, and about his mom. Thank God you and his mom got along. It had been pretty tense when she'd found out he'd tried to quit school.
Being back in Visions, Miles had also told you all about his new roommate, Ganke. Devising ways to get out of school was particularly annoying, with Ganke staying up all night to work on some thesis. Ultra-smart. Way too good at video games. Maybe a little better at physics than him. What type of high-schooler has a thesis to work on anyway? He didn't mind the guy, though. It was nice to kick back and play games with someone again.
The most recent thing he'd told you, however, had been rather short. One word and one action he'd decided on in a split second while you were working on math homework together. He'd taken some… advice. Usually his uncle's advice would be good and thoughtful, but this little incident had been chipping away at his mind all week.
"Hey." That god-damned shoulder touch.
"…Hey yourself?"
The silence. It was the loudest thing he'd ever heard.
"You gonna… ask me out now?"
"What?" His voice had shot up about nineteen octaves. The highest thing he'd ever heard.
"I mean, what is this?"
"I didn't say… Wait—"
"What?"
"Wait, wait, no— Yes—"
"Miles?"
"Can I take you out? Please?"
You laughed, and his face had gotten stuck. It was one of your cute laughs. No, every one of your laughs was cute. No, wait, yes—
"Hey, look, it's the superhero you like."
MIles turned to see what you're looking at, and nearly spins himself around 360 degrees in the process. Totally on purpose, because he was cool. Not because he was still sweating.
"Oh, yeah," he commented, squinting at the cosplayer. "Huh."
"There's tons of people dressed up…"
"Probably Comic-Con, or something."
You just nodded thoughtfully, looking around at all the cosplayers passing by. Maybe the Prowler thing would pay eventually, or he could get an actual part-time job. He could take you both.
Miles let out a sigh, before feeling your hand squeeze his.
"We've been out for a while." There you were again, the bustle of the city muffling behind the sound of your voice. There was a little smile on your face, and he found the corners of his mouth were trying to lift up without his knowledge. "You wanna go back to yours?"
And so he was back in his room. That walk had been way too short to think of ways to be cool. You'd been in here a few times by now, studying, playing video games, peeking at the figurines he'd put away to potentially sell. Reading the comics he liked, even if their price was starting to make him wince a little. You seemed to like it, though, even if his room was starting to become barren of things he might as well have grown out of by now.
"The food was good," you started, as the two of you settled down in his room.
"Hope that place stays open," he muttered, trying to reel in the sense of weariness in his voice.
"Why wouldn't they? It looks like they're doing well."
"Exactly. They get bought out as soon as they do."
"Oh."
Way to sour the mood, Morales. How is that even relevant?
"You're right, though," you contemplated, frowning a little. "It feels like everything's getting bought up recently. Even Vision's cafeteria changed companies."
"Eugh, don't remind me," he replied, rolling his shoulders to make a show. "That food is lethal."
"You'd think Visions of all places would have decent lunch."
"Exactly. At least they've still got vending machines." He couldn't believe he didn't know you could cheat them until you showed him. This vending machine business was lucrative.
"True."
Miles tried looking at you, but only got to looking at your knee. His heart stops when he feels your arm around him, and he finally meets your expression. That little gleam in your eye doesn't go unnoticed.
"Thanks for the date," you start.
"Anyti—" Your lips pressed against his cheek before he could finish.
Miles fought valiantly, but the grin that formed on his face fought harder.
"Did you uh… did you miss?" he muttered, without thinking. Did you miss…? Did I miss all fifteen years my mom raised me?!
"No…?" you replied, laughing awkwardly. God, he totally just bombed it. "Do you… want to?"
Okay, he didn't just totally bomb it. He had a chance. Did he even really wanna kiss you yet? No, yeah, he really did. Why can't I move?!
"I don't know how to… how to… you know."
He had only planned so far ahead. Miles had no idea how to kiss someone.
"Close your eyes."
"What?"
"Just do it."
He closed his eyes, feeling your hand give his a little squeeze, before he felt the faint brush of breath against his lips. And then he felt warmth. The taste of lip balm he'd let you borrow. He was kissing you.
Miles kept his eyes closed, but his hand had found the small of your back anyway, pulling you closer. The kiss had only lasted for a few moments, but when he finally opened his eyes, the world was a lot brighter than he remembered. Your smile was a lot brighter than he remembered. His face was a lot hotter than he remembered.
"The next one's on you," you murmured, simply. He could feel the words against his skin, tickling his face. You were insanely good-looking this close.
"Cool." His voice came out in a slightly breathless mumble.
His lips found yours again, and his eyes fell shut. He felt his shoulders relax. His heart had finally started to slow from its pounding. He wasn't sweating anymore.
And he was kissing you. You were his. He sure as hell was yours.
"Stay," he murmured against your mouth, his eyes on yours.
"How long?"
"Forever."
"Forever?" The two of your quiet laughs are muffled with another kiss.
"Yeah," Miles replied, as his hand went up to cup your cheek. "I got so much more to tell you."

No more nervous looks to Runa, no more excessive use of filler words like ‘uh’ or ‘um,’ more comfortable laughter.
we all cheered in unison.
“Uh.” He clicks his tongue and turns around to signal Runa over to the conversation. Your face heats up. Why can’t he just answer you? “Hey, Runie. Y/n just asked if she could, uh, ride along with me. During the race.” Runa blinks at him, then turns to you and does the same. Why is everybody acting like you just asked them if you could help them rob a bank?
the way everyone collectively scratched their head and looked around. LET DBA! YN DO WHAT SHE WANTS!! but theyre also right. eugh 😢😢😢
“Please?” It’s just one word. It’s quiet, barely audible over the engines of other cars, but it’s there nonetheless. His lips part, his pupils expand. His eyes dart to your lips, then back up to your eyes. He looks at Runa for a brief second, then nods at you. “Okay.”

his heart lurched and ran out before his brain think. was thinking? i dont know. you get the point im assuming.
“Got a passenger princess this time, Rinnie? That’s cute. By the end of this race, she’ll wanna be my passenger princess.”
You giggle and stare at him. He looks good. A little too good. You wish you could blame it on adrenaline when you surge forward and kiss him. You wish you could blame it on adrenaline when he kisses you back, cupping your face in his hands. You wish you could blame it on adrenaline when you lean back with another giggle, smile permanently plastered to your face.
HELPP. i just screamed so loud when i read this.

২ 𓂅 ࣪ ೨ ; 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐃 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓 (1,441)
২ 𓂅 ࣪ ೨ ; 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 (reader getting more confident, ride along yay, more rin + runa arguing, KISSING, < who said that, past terushima x runa for some reason)
Two weeks after the first race, Runa invites you to another. You’ve been getting to know Runa and her friends a lot better recently— you’re becoming more comfortable with them. No more nervous looks to Runa, no more excessive use of filler words like ‘uh’ or ‘um,’ more comfortable laughter.
It’s fun when you go hang out with them. It’s become a normal thing for you to accompany Runa wherever she goes, and vice versa. You have friends now. College friend. Friends who race very fast, very cool cars.
You no longer feel the need to dress differently when you’re around them. Which is why, tonight, you’re dressed like how you would for class. Jeans and a hoodie. You feel comfortable, but you’re still weary of the eyes of passersby on you.
This time, Rin is with the rest of the guys when you show up. Your heartbeat speeds up and you have to take a deep breath before meeting his eyes. His effect on you has grown worse and worse.
“Hey, guys!” Runa greets, smile on her face as always.
You walk behind her, hands shoved into the pocket of your hoodie. “Hey, guys,” you repeat, nodding your head.
“Hey, Y/n,” Rin does the same, smiling at you.
Beside him, Atsumu elbows his brother in the side. “Hey, Y/n,” he mocks, snickering. Rin looks at him, glaring, and Atsumu stops snickering. “My bad.”
“Terushima is here tonight.” The voice catches you off guard. Kita doesn’t really talk much, but when he does it’s great. You like Kita. He’s nice and he doesn’t talk shit as much as the others do.
Runa whips her head over to the white-haired man, eyes widened. “What?” She asks. “Like, here? Like, he’s here, right now? Racing? Tonight?”
Rin snickers and pushes himself off the hood of his car. “Yeah, and I’m gonna kick his ass right about,” he pauses and looks at the nonexistent watch on his wrist, “now.”
Everyone laughs, including you. There’s been a thought in the back of your head recently. Well, ever since you attended the first race, really. You can’t stop thinking about what it’s like to be in that car. In any car, actually. What it’s like to cross that finish line, to drift around the corners— the thought is eating you alive.
“Hey, uh, Rin?”
He turns to you, still smiling from having laughed at his joke. His brows raise expectantly. Runa and the rest of them turn to look at you as well. That feeling of being out of place comes back. You clear your throat. “Can I…” you trail off, glancing around at the others. “Um, actually, never mind.”
Rin furrows his brows, looking around as well. He walks over to you, puts a hand on your shoulder, and turns you away from the group. “What’s up?”
Your hands, still shoved in the pocket of your hoodie, start to sweat. You swallow hard. This is more nerve wracking than probably anything you’ve ever done. “Can I, um, go with you?”
He stares at you for a moment. “Go with me?” He repeats. “Like, ride with me? When I race Terushima?”
You nod timidly.
“Uh.” He clicks his tongue and turns around to signal Runa over to the conversation. Your face heats up. Why can’t he just answer you? “Hey, Runie. Y/n just asked if she could, uh, ride along with me. During the race.”
Runa blinks at him, then turns to you and does the same. Why is everybody acting like you just asked them if you could help them rob a bank?
“Absolutely not.” She shakes her head. “It’s too dangerous and, I’m pretty sure I already said this, but I don’t want to have to look for a new roommate. No way, absolutely not, I do not give my permission.”
“I’m not a child.” It comes out almost involuntarily. You regret aot as soon as it’s said. “I mean— I’m—“ you take a deep breath. “I can make my own decisions. It’s, um, it’s up to Rin. Right, Rin?”
He opens his mouth to talk, but closes it when Runa narrows his eyes. “It’s… complicated. Runa’s right; it is dangerous. We don't want that pretty face getting all messed up, right?”
Right now, compliments will get him nowhere. You press your lips together and look directly into Rin’s eyes, preparing for the loss of dignity you’re about to experience. “Please?” It’s just one word. It’s quiet, barely audible over the engines of other cars, but it’s there nonetheless.
His lips part, his pupils expand. His eyes dart to your lips, then back up to your eyes. He looks at Runa for a brief second, then nods at you. “Okay.”
“What? Rin, no. You just said I was right.” Runa tries to protest, but she can’t stop Rin when he walks over to Atsumu’s motorcycle and grabs the helmet sitting on the seat. He comes back to you and places it in your hands.
“Wear this,” he says. “Just in case.”
“Just in case,” you repeat with a nod.
He leads you over to his car and, before he starts it, he looks over at you. “Are you sure you want to do this?”
You stare at him. Are you? Your life in Miyagi was boring. Routine. Wake up, go to school, go home, go to sleep. Repeat. Nothing ever happened to you. But here? You moved to Tokyo and were immediately taken under somebody’s wing. You had a new group of friends and a crazy secret in a matter of days.
You put the helmet on your head and look over at him. “I’m sure.” You nod.
He smirks, shakes his head, then pulls his car up to the starting line. There’s already another car there. It’s bright orange and it might be a Nissan, but how would you know? They roll down their window and laugh loudly.
“Got a passenger princess this time, Rinnie? That’s cute. By the end of this race, she’ll wanna be my passenger princess.”
Rin rolls his eyes. “Yeah, right, Terushima. I’m gonna beat you this time, just like I have every other time.” He looks at you and jerks his head towards the blonde man. “Runa’s last situationship. He’s a douchebag.”
Another wild laugh comes from the car and Rin rolls his window up. You giggle at that.
A woman steps out in front of the cars and you suddenly feel self conscious once again. You look at Rin, to see where his eyes are, but they’re on you.
“You ready?” He asks, tilting his head.
You take a deep breath and nod. He sits back in the seat, hand on the gear stick. The woman brings a hand up— the act is familiar to you now. She looks at the two racers, then brings her hand down. Rin’s car shoots off so fast that your whole body clings to the seat.
The ride is exhilarating. Adrenaline pumps through your veins as the cement walls around you go by in a blur. The only thing you can hear is Rin shifting gears and the roar of the engine. A corner comes up, Rin shifts gears and drifts around it. Your chest heaves, eyes wide.
It’s not a long race. Less than half a mile, if you remember correctly. You’re smiling ear-to-ear, laughing loudly. This is the best experience you’ve ever had in your life, you think. Before you know it, Rin is just a few yards away from the finish line. You look back as best you can and that bright orange car is nowhere to be seen.
You let out a scream— pure excitement. Your skin is tingling adrenaline. You can’t believe it. Rin crosses the finish line and stops his car. Before he even puts it in park, you’re ripping off the helmet.
“You won!” You exclaim in a laugh. “You fucking won! Holy shit!” You know you look crazy. Your eyes are wide, your hair is probably a mess, you’re breathing heavily. “Holy— Rin, you won!”
He returns the wide grin, letting out a laugh as well. “Did you think I would lose?” He asks, jokingly narrowing his eyes. “Y/n, I’m wounded.”

She glances at you and, even in the dark, she can see your eyes open. “Sorry,” she apologizes in a whisper. “Rin called me. He, um, got arrested. Again.”
AGAIN? wait i forgot hes a street racer LMAO...
Runa and Rin keep glaring at each other and, for a brief moment, you think they’re communicating telepathically.
wait this reminds me of that clown-to-clown communication

There are many perks of having a roommate. For example, you’re no longer alone. Now, when you stay up late, there is someone keeping you company, making you laugh and swapping war stories with you.
Just as there are perks, there are bad things as well. For example, you can hear everything that goes on. Including when Runa gets a phone call in the middle of the night, despite her phone being silent.
“Hello?” Her voice groggy, sleep still coating her throat. She pauses, then clears her throat. “Rin? What are—“ she stops talking, or she’s cut off. You roll over in bed and face her. “Oh, okay, yeah. Yeah, I’ll be there in a minute. Okay, yeah, love you too.”
She glances at you and, even in the dark, she can see your eyes open. “Sorry,” she apologizes in a whisper. “Rin called me. He, um, got arrested. Again.”
You blink a couple times, your tiredness suddenly gone. You sit up at the same time she does. “Again?” You repeat. You watch her slip on her shoes, forgetting about even needing socks. “Are you going to bail him out?”
“Yeah,” she says, standing up and rushing to put a coat on. “I’m sorry I woke you up. I’ll be back in a bit.”
“Um, wait.” She stops, but you can see the urgency in her eyes. “Can I go with you? I don’t mean to be codependent, or whatever, but, um.”
She sighs, pressing the palm of her hand against her forehead, then nods. “Yeah,” she says, nodding. “Yeah, you can come. Just, uh, hurry up. Please.”
Suddenly, all the years of people calling you weird for sleeping in socks are thrown out the window. All you have to do is slip on some shoes. Thanks to the extremely cold AC in your building, you’re already in a hoodie and sweatpants.
The streets are practically empty as Runa drives down them. That’s to be expected, though, since it’s nearly three o’clock in the morning on a Tuesday. She opts out of playing music. Her knuckles are white as they grip the steering wheel. You wonder how many times she’s done this before.
You’ve never been to a police station. Actually, that’s a lie. You went on a field trip in middle school— the first and last time you’d ever been inside one. You don’t know how bailing someone out works, either, but Runa looks familiar with the process, so you just follow her.
The police station is quiet— unexpectedly so. You spent years of your childhood watching police shows, so you expected it to be a little more rowdy than a homeless man and a sobbing teenage girl. It’s colder than you expected, too. Even though you’re wearing a hoodie, you still have to wrap your arms around yourself.
The woman at the front desk seems familiar with Runa. They talk in hushed voices for a minute or two, and then Runa gestures for you to follow her. You glance back at the desk woman, but she’s typing away at her computer once again, seemingly honed in on whatever.
You follow Runa to what you assume is the back of the station. There are jail cells lined up against the wall, but most of them are empty. You stop at the last one and a quiet gasp leaves your mouth at the sight.
It’s Rin, but he’s hunched over, elbows on his knees, head in his hands. His knuckles are visibly bruised and you think there might be blood staining his shirt. He looks up at the absence of further footsteps. His eyes are red.
“You’re an idiot,” Runa says, crossing her arms over her chest.
His eyes flicker from her to you and you wave. “Hi, Rin.”
“I mean—“ She scoffs. “This is, what, the third time in as many months? Get it together, Rin! Like, what were you thinking? You know how much this costs me?”
“Costs you?” Rin repeats, scoffing as he now stands up. “I pay you back every time, don’t even.”
She clamps her jaw shut, and you know it’s because she’s too angry to speak. She glances back and waves her hand. The next thing you know, Rin is standing next to you and Runa.
You’re quiet, because what else are you supposed to do? Runa and Rin keep glaring at each other and, for a brief moment, you think they’re communicating telepathically. Rin looks at you, a small smirk on his face, and you look away.
This was a bad idea.
When you finally leave, something occurs to you. Where are you supposed to sit now? The front seat or the back seat? Rin is her cousin, but she’s mad at him, so maybe she’ll make him sit in the back? Your feet seem to stutter and you trip a bit, catching yourself before you can hit the ground. Rin and Runa look back, brows furrowed, but you clear your throat and shrug.
And then Runa solves all your problems by getting in the passenger seat. Rin is driving, got it. You get in the backseat and sit behind Rin.
This is ridiculous. The car ride is quiet. You can practically see steam coming off of Runa. Rin is driving with one hand. Your head is swimming. You stare out the window and look at the houses as you pass them.
Rin drives to his house and, before he leaves, he walks over to your side of the car and leans down into the window. “You came with her.”
You shrug, wringing your fingers in your lap. “I’ve never been to a police station before.” It’s an excuse, you know he knows. “And I was bored.”
“You were sleeping,” he hums out. “I think,” he leans closer, now whispering, “you just wanted to see me.”
“What?” Your face heats up, eyes widening a bit. “That’s— I didn’t— Runa was just—“
He laughs and smacks the roof of the car. “I’ll see you guys later, yeah?” He looks at Runa and stops laughing. “I’m sorry, Runie. I’ll pay you back tomorrow.”
“Yeah, whatever.” She rolls her eyes. She puts the car in drive and drives off.

২ 𓂅 ࣪ ೨ ; 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐃 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓 (757)
২ 𓂅 ࣪ ೨ ; 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 (filler chapter, short but sweet, only child! reader, a little angsty in regards to reader beung an only child, just backstory on reader + runa family, profanity, mcdonalds)
a/n: i dont do authors notes, and i probs wont do this again, but i wanted to wish all those who celebrate a very merry christmas !! i hope you eat yummy food and have a great time with your family !
When you get a text from Runa asking to join her for lunch, of course you say yes. It’s your fourth day here and you still haven’t made a peep to any of your classmates. Runa’s kind of the only person you know at university.
You meet her in front of your dorm building and the ride to Mcdonald’s isn’t too long. Apparently, they built this Mcdonald’s last year purely because it’s around a bunch of broke college kids.
Runa orders first and you order the same thing. Who knew you two were so similar? You sit down and, for the first few minutes, you’re both quiet.
Runa breaks the silence first by asking about your family.
“Oh, I’m an only child,” you say with a shrug. “My parents are also both only children, so I don’t really have a big family or anything. I only have a few cousins who are much, much older than me. Courtesy of my great aunts and uncles.” You shrug again and pop a fry in your mouth. “Um, my mom is a pediatrician, so she was never really home, and my dad works for the local newspaper.”
She nods along as you speak, watching you intently. Once you finish, she hums. “That’s too bad. Growing up without a lot of family, I mean.” She frowns slightly. “Your dad is a newspaper guy, though, is that why you want to teach English when you get older?”
“Um,” You think for a moment. “Maybe? I don’t know. I’ve just always been good at English.” You pause, then shake your head. “What about you? What’s your family like?”
Her eyes widen and she suddenly smiles widely. “Oh, I have a huge family. I have three brothers and one sister. I’m the oldest, which,” she rolls her eyes, “sucks, by the way. My mom passed away when I was little, but my dad works for a car company. Not selling them, building them. He’s, like, a genius. That’s why I got into cars. I’m assuming Rin told you about Atsumu’s dad’s car?” When you nod, she nods as well. “Yeah, they were always working on that stupid car. It was, like, twenty years old, but it was cool as fuck.”
You nod, taking a bite of your burger. “That sounds awesome. When I was younger I used to be super jealous of other kids with siblings. My house was always quiet, so I used to turn all the TV’s on and pretend that there were people in the house.” You laugh at the memory, but when you look at Runa, she’s frowning once again. “It’s okay, though,” you try to backtrack. “I liked my privacy, too. I never had to share a room, there was always hot water to shower with, never had to deal with siblings chasing after me with a knife or something.” You snicker and shrug again.
She stays quiet for a long moment. The two of you sit in silence again, just eating your food.
Eventually, you clear your throat. “So, um, what do you do for fun? You mentioned being a manager for your high school’s volleyball team, but what do you like to do now?” You raise your brows inquisitively. “Oh, what are you majoring in?”
“Communications,” she answers quickly. The sudden smile on her face almost makes you giggle. She sure does change emotions rather quickly. “I want to do something to do with public relations, maybe? I don’t know. When I was a manager I felt like I was doing something that fit, you know? So I’m thinking of becoming a PR manager for a sports team or something. Volleyball or maybe soccer.” She shrugs.
“That makes sense.” You nod. “I think you’d be good at marketing, too. You’re very…” you trail off, thinking. “Persuasive.”
She laughs and shakes her head. “I just talk a lot.”
You laugh, too, and look back down at your food. It’s nearly gone, but you don’t think you can finish it. “Do you want the rest of my fries?” You ask.
“Um, yeah, obviously.”
As you laugh once more and hand her the french fries, you can’t help but think that Runa is going to be a good friend. She’s funny and nice and she included you in something dear to her the first day you met her.
You go to sleep that night with a smile on your face for the first time in a while. Similarly, for the first time, you’re excited to wake up with Runa tomorrow.

HOMEMADE LOVE prev | masterlist | next
EXTRA #05. “why would he do that?”
extra: putting the gift ideas under here if anyone was curious abt prev chapter!!
YN's idea is really like a little bracelet/keychain of a bunch of trinkets she found at the antique story. bunch of hearts, a little clock to make it useful. It's a little nerdy and VERY much her.
KUROO's idea was fancier (bc he was convinced by the lady selling it to him lol) but something she could carry around every day, like a daily reminder of his love. a little set with 2 necklaces, a short one with a little heart and a longer one with a little rectangle.
