What On Earth Is Green Building Design?

I don’t know how to say this but can I just post off-topic today?

You see, my brother and I met a few hours ago and we talked about his plans to build a home for his family. We were browsing photos of home designs while enjoying our coffee then a woman (who looked so hippie) came up to us and suggested that we choose a green building design. We were both surprised not only because we didn’t know her but also because we don’t know what a green building is. Is it colored green? Are the walls and the roof green as well? What the hell?!

We both smiled at her and as if she could read our minds, she said, “You guys should Google green building design ideas. These are the designs suitable to our generation nowadays with the climate change happening and all.”

“Oh okay. So that’s what green building means.” My brother and I almost broke into fits of laughter because we felt so dumb. LOL Anyway, we thanked the kind lady and proceeded to researching about this so-called environment-friendly construction style.

We found out that green homes make use of environment-friendly materials that are cost-effective and at the same time, energy efficient. The home will be designed and built in a way that it will take advantage of natural lighting and passive heating. Sounds great! Never heard of that before but I guess this is something that should be seriously considered. I even advised my brother to mull over the installation of solar panels so that he can cut down on his electrical costs and also stop playing a part in the use of non-renewable energy resources.

Now the only question is, where do we find a trusted home builder in Manningham VIC? I don’t know a lot of people in that area so I really need your help, guys. If you can refer a builder to us, I will appreciate it. We’ll be travelling to Manningham next month so I hope by that time, I have already heard from you.

For now, I have to say goodbye and continue writing my novel. ‘Til my next blog post!
