This tournament season started off quick, with 6 days of competition in a 9 day span. Immediately following the @kayakbassfishing The Ten, I drove north to Lake Seminole, in Bainbridge Georgia to compete in the first @hobiefishing BOS event of the year. I had five hours to prefish on Friday, and only caught one fish, but felt pretty good that there were a few more in that area. It was a small backwater area off the main river. The first day I caught a decent limit using senkos and flukes, but I was worried I had caught the majority of the fish in that area. The second day was a bit tougher but I was able to catch another limit using an A-rig. At 11:00 I abandoned the area, launched at a new ramp and fished all unfamiliar water the rest of the day. I only caught one more fish, but it was 19 inches, the largest of the day, which moved me up several spots. When all said and done I finished 11th out of 175. This was the largest field ever for a Hobie BOS event. It is so awesome to see this kind of growth in the sport. There are now 3 national kayak trails and it is great to see all 3 getting the numbers they need to be successful. #irodfishing #quantumfishing #dugoutbaitandtackle #wildyfishing #yakattack #bendingbranches #dakotalithium (at Bainbridge, Georgia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CLHyPbiLj_S/?igshid=xtb6nvi3624

Super excited to start off the season with a couple strong finishes at the @kayakbassfishing Trail Series events as well as the @deezeemfg Tenvitational, down in Kissimmee Florida. There’s no better place to be this time of year. The weather and fishing were both amazing. Big congrats to my good buddy @joshjsharp for winning the Tenvitational, and @jodyqueenfishing for winning The Ten. He is a hell of an angler, and someone I have an enormous amount of respect for. Already can’t wait to make it out to next years event, one of my favorites for sure! #irodfishing #dakotalithium #dugoutbaitandtackle #torqeedofishing #tactacam #kayakbassfishing #quantumfishing #deezeemfg (at Kissimmee, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/CLGGBN2LUaz/?igshid=1bmmkdtm8be23

It’s great to be back home in Nashville TN. My 2.5 month road trip has finally came to an end. It was an experience of a lifetime and one I’ll never forget! The last chapter of my journey across the country was spent at Lake Dardanelle in Russellville Arkansas. The Hobie BOS Series was in town and a group of friends and I rented a house for the week. Prefishing went well and after the first day of competition I was leading the tournament by just a half inch. Unfortunately the area I was fishing was pretty small and ultimately the area got too much pressure and I ran out of fish. I still ended up with a solid 4th place finish and some much needed points for the “Angler of the Year” race. There’s only one Hobie tournament left, Coosa River on October 3rd & 4th, then the championship at Fort Loudon Lake in November. I really want to thank AJ and the rest of the Hobie staff for putting on such well run tournaments. They’ve got it down like a well oiled machine. I’d also like to thank my sponsors #irodfishing and #dakotalithium for all of their support, they are both a big part in making this all possible for me. First time exploring Utah! Camped out at Fish Lake with my mom and step dad. Then my buddy Aaron drove out from Denver and we hiked around Capital Reef, and drove out to Green River for some more camping. (at Utah) https://www.instagram.com/p/CE_muE4A0KH/?igshid=1fekg41s8xbw5

It’s getting hard to find words to say at this point, all I know is this whole past year has felt absolutely surreal. I definitely don’t take my recent success for granted, and I’m so very thankful for all the love and support from all my friends, family and sponsors. This past weekend a number of friends drove up 3 hours from the Bay Area to camp out with me at Clear Lake. The campground we stayed at up in Lakeport, was a place we used to have annual camping trips when I was in my teens and 20’s. Being able to reminisce and share stories of all the crazy times we used to have out there was a special experience, one I’ll never forget. #irodfishing #dakotalithium #bassmasterkayakseries #clearlake (at Lakeport, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEnXMPmAj8r/?igshid=17bnlrs8vjfpw

Well, I was on my way to Clear Lake and lost my power steering. If I’m going to break down, this was definitely the place to do it. Luckily I’ve got a friend with a garage near by. This will be my second time replacing the steering rack and pump. Hopefully it goes quicker this time around. Should get her back on the road by the end of the day! https://www.instagram.com/p/CEFHbStjyCC/?igshid=17pdlqtt2nogt

Had a little bit better day two and moved up to 10th place. Next stop is the KBF Trail Series at Clear Lake. I’ll be heading up that way first thing tomorrow morning. Revisiting all of my old stomping grounds has sure been fun! Really looking forward to these next couple of weeks! https://www.instagram.com/p/CEABFrZAU85/?igshid=1fxfo6sya8iac

Rough first day at the Hobie BOS Series at the CA Delta. Hopefully I can turn it around and get a solid limit tomorrow. I was catching some giant limits during practice, but in typical Delta fashion, the big fish magically disappeared. This place always seems to humble me. #hobiebos #irodfishing #dakotalithium #tomorrowsanotherday (at Bethel Island, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CD769pOgcKJ/?igshid=1wxd32vkdmm7r

Camping out on the Willamette River this past weekend will definitely be a memorable trip. I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to travel around the country and reconnect with old friends. Time sure does fly by. Made it out to Portland Oregon to visit a couple childhood friends. Can’t believe it’s been close to a decade since I’ve gone fishing with my buddy Andy. We explored the Columbia River Gorge and caught a ton of smallmouth! Starting to finally figure out how to fish a spybait. #irodfishing #dakotalithium #osprey #smallmouthbassfishing (at Columbia River Gorge) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDSg-rqgViS/?igshid=6vrank7xkzvm

If only the bass fishing was as good as the trout fishing in Montana. If that were the case I think I’d have to move here. #dakotalithium #beautifulmontana #troutfishing #flyfishingmontana (at Rock Creek, Montana) https://www.instagram.com/p/CC9SP_ogHWF/?igshid=1e8iis2tdbca0

Minnesota, the land of giant smallmouth bass, and giant swarms of mosquitoes! Couldn’t ask for a better group of people to spend the week with. Catching my personal best smallmouth twice in the last hour of the trip was an added bonus. I didn’t have a scale with me as usual, lol, but I’m guessing they were both a hair under 6 lbs. (last two selfie pics) 21 1/4” and as fat as a bass could be. Next destination Montana!!! #irodfishing #dakotalithium #hobiefishing #nativekayaks #wildyfishing #torqeedofishing (at Mille Lacs Lake) https://www.instagram.com/p/CC06DniARCp/?igshid=bc1b4wej27t

A little late on posting this, but I was able to catch another solid limit on the 2nd day of the Hobie BOS and walk away with the win! This past year has been surreal, as I am truly living out my childhood dream. I’m so grateful for the support from all my sponsors, and appreciate all the hard work from AJ and the rest of the Hobie staff. This tournament was the start of a two month road trip for me. The majority of the time I’ll be living out of my truck and traveling across the country. Minnesota, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California, then Utah, before I head back home to Tennessee. #irodfishing #dakotalithium #hobiebos2020 (at La Crosse, Wisconsin) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCqh8vBARa7/?igshid=1jsf5nurlc0nc
