Seeing this in the Capitol Building the other day reminded me of the hundreds of Sikh freedom fighters that struggled to protect the public from the tyrannical Indian Police in the 80s and 90s. This quote could not be more appropriate in describing the threats of injustice and oppression in international capacities. Yes the US wasn't a perfect country in its formation, but this definition of America truly gives me satisfaction of being a resident of such a country, even if it's only in the mind of a few knowledgeable persons. -- "ਓ ਹਾਲ੍ਹੇ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਪਾਲਿਅਾ ਜੇ ਅਸੀ ਹੱਥ ਹੱਥਿਅਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ, ਲੱਗ ਗੲੀਅਾਂ ਪਿਅਸਾਂ ਨੇ ਖੰਡੇ ਦੀਅਾਂ ਧਾਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ, - ਅਸੀ ਵਖ਼ਤ ਪਾ ਦਿਅਾਂਗੇ, ਜ਼ਾਲਮ ਸਰਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ!" Author of above editorial and the quote in the picture is William Allen White. He was an editor, politician, and author. After being a prominent leader of the Progressive Movement, he later became a spokesperson of middle class America. The perception of politicians and leaders of today's public only the result of their own inactivity in the system of their polis. Is it really possible to dearly miss someone whom you have not met? Janam din mubarak to my idol, Sirdar Kapur Singh ji. A professor, author, theologian, philosopher, and parliamentarian-politician. As a Sikh ideologue, he was the central mover of the Anandpur Resolution of 1973. And although his authorship was not glorified, the intrinsic document of the Presidential Declaration at the Hari Singh Nalwa Conference of 1965 also bore his penmanship. A truely free soul he was and someone who had a vision as wide as the horizon for the Panth. The unprecedented and delusional calls that todays uneducated and unwise society makes, are no more naive than a kindergartener deciding foreign affairs of a country. It is frusterating when we encounter the a mentality that is subconsciously determined t destroy the democratic system via internal methods so unknowingly. We have accustomed ourselves to complacency and carlessness to the degree where we can no longer witness our ignorance. This is due to the lack of wisdom being passed on, which ironically becomes impossible as passing on is a trait of inherently transferred information. Einstein was the Guru Nanak of modern science and reactionary human interchange. You can do it if you wish it. Willpower and the realization of capability is all it takes. Signs like these were enough to help breakdown the #BerlinWall. If we can take any inspiration from it, I would say it would directlt apply to the conditions of our Panth and even the countries we live in. Break down the wall of ignorance and lack of wanting to learn. Value yourself and the change you can make via so many capacities. This is exactly what Guru Sahib has taught us, you can't do what the Khalsa has done without a backbone. YOU ARE POWER. ACT UP. Stop waitng around of someone to come along and pick you up to take you somewhere. Being leaderless only tells you to act like one, not to undesirabley wait for something to happen inadvertently! It's not going to happen on its own, you- yes you need to wake up and acknowledge the issues and find a solution to them.
