Unit 11 & 12: Phrasal Verbs

School Noon. They own side.

 “Emperor”, when the game was at start and no one knew much about the mechanics, they were the one of find out mechanics about the game. Kymberly Schumacher was the first one, she was the one who noticed the “jump casting”, Jason Stroll was the second, he found off most of weakness of enemies, the third was Thuy Thien, she was the one who figure out mechanics of raids. Manuel Heim was the 4th emperor, he was the one who most caught abusing into bugs in game, the 5th emperor is Tohru Harada, the builder and calculator that pointed out most of basis builds of any class, the 6th emperor is Alfredo da Silva, the player that better could set up rotations of skills due his timing, the fastest caster for most of players. These players stick up playing and growing up, being almost unreachable for most of them.

 Himiko finally reach the part of dorms. There are some benches and they are empty, except one with Alfredo waiting for her. At see him, she smiles and sit in his front, beside still with her mind filled up with Rinko’s situation. They start to eat, in silent, what’s uncommon for them. Alfredo notice it’s and decide to take action. - What’s up, Himiko?

- Uh… Nothing. After listen it, Alfredo raise up and sit down at Himiko’ side. He gets his earphones and put in her ears.

 Phrasal Verbs are used as common words, in order to resume the meaning of a sentence. They are formed from Verb plus Particle. Ex: We need to Hang out more.       Hang Out = Pass more time together.

 Most of Phrasal verbs are transitive, so, they take objects.

 Ex: “Jason Stroll was the second, he found off most of weakness of enemies”

 Most of Phrasal verbs are separable, when together pronouns, the pronouns must be between the verb and particle.

Ex: “he was the one who most caught abusing into bugs in game”

Some phrasal verbs are intransitive, or they don’t take a subject.

 Ex: Yeah, chilling on. (Relaxing)

 Some Phrasal Verbs are Inseparable, it means the pronoun object always go after the particle.

 Ex: You ran into me. You got me.

 Some Phrasal Verbs are used with certain prepositions Ex: I’ll always try to come up with something when you’re like now.

Unit 10: Causative Verbs (Make, Have, Let, Help and Get)

School noon – Girls side 2 – The bravery.

 Alfredo, Manuel, Tohru, Takuma, Rinko, Rika, Ryouko and Himiko meet each other in a mmorpg. An online game. In that game, there are 6 players called as “Emperors” for being the starters of changes that inspired all whole players. These players gained a lot of status and became pretty famous. 4 in each 10 teenagers play this famous mmorpg regularly, with mean that isn’t hard meet someone that actually play it. Yamada school is an Elite school, and qualities of gamers are actually pretty well developed beside they usually lack in interest and development in other important areas. Since in Yamada institute, 7 in each 10 students play it, they developed a special attention for behavior of they students. They checked out the reasons of that coincidence, and nothing was really found, like these students just chose to study there if they can.

The clock mark 12:07pm when Ryouko and Himiko reach the class 3-A, it’s Rinko class.  Rinko it’s a beautiful girl with curly black hair and a white skin, meanwhile Rika have a pale skin and uses a heavy gothic makeup. Rinko is sad due all that’s happening in her life. - What happened, Rinko? – Asked Ryouko, worried.

- Nothing really, just a bit down. - Why just don’t talk Rin? – Asked Rika. - Well… This year was being so fun and it’s ending… It’s already Octuber. - Oh, you don’t want let us. – Said Himiko. - Not only it. - Problem with points? – Asked Ryouko.

- No, I’m rank 35th in seniors, preparing for exam entrance, I don’t think in live as model for a long time.

- So… You have problem with boys? – Asked Ryouko looking suspiciously.

While walk, Himiko thinks in Rinko, they became pretty close friends, but Rinko never talked about love relationships, so she couldn’t notice.

“The Holy Knight…” I’m sorry, Rinko. Somehow, I knew, but I preferred to fake… I’m sorry.

 Causative Verbs are action verbs used when a third person in sentence cause the action.

 Ex:

 He makes me annoy with his behavior.

 Have: Usually the construction means the giving of responsibility for someone.

 Ex: You have him learn some experience with Girls.

 Make: Usually the construction mean that the subject is being obliged in do something.

Ex:

He makes me annoy with his behavior.

 Let: Usually the construction means allowing someone do something.

 EX:

 You let him take the control of relationship

 Get: Usually the construction means convince someone in do something.

 EX: Yes, he got me to be his girlfriend.

 Help: Usually the construction mean that someone did something by own will or in support to do something

  EX:

He helped me improve a lot.

Unit 9: Geriunds and Infinitives.

School Noon. Girls side.

 Yamada Institute it’s an Elite School, and due it, your price is pretty high, but since it’s a School that value the talent more than power of parents, they give scholarships for some few choose one. There’s not a limit for choice students to a scholarship. They seek for talent and young people with will to improve. These who have talent and these blessed with power meet each other in that School, partnership and grow up together are one of core in they education. Last year, Tohru Harada and Rika Suzuki was chosen for a scholarship, this year, Alfredo da Silva and Manuel Heim got chosen to fill out these vacancies. It’s not about competition, but about cooperation.

 The clock marks 12:00 and it’s end of class. 2 freshman girls are walking in main build, one it’s a Japanese girl, with 180cm height and beautiful body, green eyes and long black hair, Ryouko Toyoda, the other girl is pretty short, only 156cm height, with brown eyes and brown hair, a beautiful face and not much volume in her body, Himiko Hirai. Both are walking slowly in direction of second year class to meet they friend Rika Suzuki.

 - I ask to myself if Alfredo really likes me… - Said Himiko, a bit sad.

- Rushing like that is scary.

- I did so many mistakes with him… I want to compensate him.

- I guess he forgiven you already…  He made the decision to enter in a relationship with you.

- I hope so, at start he was so distant, didn’t done much movement, it made me so mad and sad.

- Well… - Said Ryouko, looking to Himiko suspiciously. – He admitted that was a mistake hide his game identity, beside he had a good reason for do it. You guys past 4 months fighting, then one month to understanding each other and you finally notice your feelings for him, finally starting to date. You're rushing the things to try compensate him from all bad that you done. He’s trying to calm you down not because he’s afraid I think, but for value you.

 Gerunds are often the subject of a sentence

 Ex:

 Rushing like that is scary.

 Gerunds also are often used after certain verbs as subject of them

 Ex:

 I like his acting generally. Only the Gerund in verb forms can follow a preposition.

 Ex:

 I look forward to having lunch with you.

 Infinitive usually can follow some verbs

 Ex:

 I hope he not to give up on me.

 He wants to avoid this kind of problem and enjoy.

 Infinitive often follow an adjective, that usually describe emotions or action about the verb in infinitive Ex:

We’re ready to have something different. Also, Infinitive can follow some nouns. Ex: He made the decision to enter in a relationship with you.

Unit 8: So, Too, Neither, not either, and But.

School Noon. Boys side.

In Tokyo there’s an international school, the Yamada institute, it’s a private high school that

was found in 1987 for Shinichiro Yamada in order of receive kids of foreigners that came to Japan. With class in Japanese, Chinese, English, Germany, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, the Yamada Institute became a prestigious school with one of best grades of entire Japan. Beside the priority of entrance exams are for foreigner kids, 67% of students are native Japanese, 15% are from other countries of Asia, mainly Chinese, 5% are American, 5% Brazilians and the other 8% are from most variable parts of world. With support of great universities of all whole world and some embassies, Yamada Institution it’s one of greatest place to study. But the main reason of being so disputed it’s the lighter rules in relation of a normal Japanese school, what sound pretty ironic. A normal Japanese school have rigid pattern for vestments and behavior, but Yamada Institute haven’t. An example it’s the hairstyle. In a normal Japanese school, the students must have black hair, but in Yamada institute the hairstyle is free. Beside they have a uniform, the customization was allowed in a certain level, and also, in Yamada Institute, unlike a normal Japanese school, the fact that students aren’t obliged in participate of extra activities or clubs turned that school pretty much famous, mainly to students that only wants to study and prepare themselves for Tokyo Daigaku (Todai) or even overseas universities like Paris, Stanford and Harvard. Which made the Yamada institution an example and changed in some way the Japanese education. In compensation, students had more language class, which wasn’t a nuisance, since they get certificate of fluence by other important institution or embassies. In outside part of School main build have some trees and benches, there are lot of students in all over area. The clock mark exactly 12:02pm it’s lunch time.  There are 4 young boys, they are talking and laughing, a giant with brown skin and short black hair, the Brazilian Alfredo da Silva, one Caucasian European guy with blue eyes, the Germanic Manuel Heim and two Japanese, one a bit smaller than all other guys, with black long hair and glasses, Tohru Harada and a beautiful tall one, not taller than the Brazilian, with clear hair, blue eyes and a shining smile, Takuma Fujimoto.

- Finally, a vacancy class right after the lunch. – Said Manuel.

- Feels like we won at lottery. – Agreed Takuma. - And was a pretty good coincidence. – Talked Tohru. While everyone talks, Alfredo looks to horizon, diving in his thinking. Them, Tohru punch him lightly, grabbing his attention.

- What happened? – Asked Tohru, worried.

- Just Thinking…

- Waaa, Al in game is so talkative, but in real life is so silent, looks like a different person. – Said Takuma. – It’s scares me. -  Me too. – Answer Alfredo. - Well, what you’re thinking? – Asked Manuel.

- I’m thinking in next raid and what our girlfriends are doing right now.

- So am I. – Answered Tohru.

- You and Rika argued again, Tohru? – asked Takuma.

- Yeah... Soon we’re going to last year, I need to pass Guild Leadership to someone else.

At this moment, everyone looks to Alfredo.

- That shit again… So are Tohru and Manuel. Manuel will become the next leader then. – Said Alfredo. - Why not you Takuma? – Asked Manuel. - Model career is hard.

- Long distance relationships are weird. – Talked Manuel.

  Additions are Clauses or Short sentence that follow a statement. They express Similarity or contrast, agree or disagree with the information on statement. Additions are used to avoid repeated information.  

We can use “So” and “Too” for agree with a positive statement Example: I’m thinking in next raid and what our girlfriends are doing right now. So am I.

 Or:

While “So do I”, “I do Too”, “Neither do I” and “I not Either” are formal way, in informal speech is common see “Me too” to agree with a positive statement and “Me neither” to agree with a negative statement. We use “But” in additions to show a contrast. Ex: A normal Japanese school have rigid pattern for vestments and behavior, but Yamada Institute haven’t. And You and Rika are taking care of her?

If the statement is positive, the addition must be negative. Unit 6: Future perfect and Future perfect Progressive.

Race Weekend day 3 – The strategy of anxiety. It finally come, the race day, the most important. Spa-Francorchamps is absolutely crowded, around 150.000 it’s the audience for this race. In McLaren boxes, Aaron, Mattias and the rest of crew prepare the car and the strategy. - By lap 14, you have changed the tires from Super Soft to Medium. – Said Katsuo. - Isn’t better I try to keep the performance until lap 16 and try only one pit stop? – Asked Aaron. - We have been thinking in that while tests yesterday, but isn’t easy to surpass the Toyotas. - From our calculation, by the time you surpass Cross, he’ll have stopping before you, unlike Sebastien, you can easily defeat him. - These Toyotas are monsters, by the lap 20, Sebastien will have already stopped, it’s when our undercurt will work. We use Future perfect for describe an action that will be completed on future. EX: By lap 14, you have changed the tires from Super Soft to Medium. We use Future Perfect with Already and yet to emphasize what will happen first. EX: So, by the time that we go to Monza, we’ll have already celebrated your birthday. (Her birthday will happen before they reach Monza) WE use Future perfect progressive for describe an action that will be happening on future. EX:  By the time that we reach lap 15, we’ll having to do the pit-stop and do it fast as possible.

Unit 5: Future and Future Progressive.

Race Weekend Day 2: The expectative. The Belgium Grand Prix it’s always surrounded by expectative, because it’s the first race before the vacancy days of Formula one. These vacancies actually are filled with lot of work in secret, due it, the cars come with innumerous updates. The Championship was pretty balanced, but due all 3 free practiques being leaded by Sebastien and his Toyota, looks like at least in Spa, the qualify and the race will be dominated by them. In a place of Paddock, Eddy, Richard and Christina it’s starting one more Broadcast. - Hi guys, today we saw one more show power of Toyota and Sebastien, but the evolution of McLarens in only one day it’s impressive. This qualify is promising going to be a lottery, we have 6 drivers with real chance of to be Pole Position. – Said Eddy. - We could see how the McLaren of Aaron was clearly fierce in cornering, he was attacking with all his power, showing an aggressiveness that I never saw even in his best years. – Talked Richard. - Maybe it’s the pressure, I think that José it’s having problems and dedicated himself in solve everything in car, so for me, in this qualify, José Santana and Ari Jyrkiainen will surprise everyone in a positive way. – Said Christina. - Yeah Chris, now that you talked. Both Ferraris walked the most possible that could and sometimes we saw both Ferraris and McLarens struggling to keep on line, while Toyotas walked in a progressive line. They are all expecting the qualify, in Spa, it’s important be at pole position due Eau Rouge. But with the rain incoming, everyone keep the hope to shine at the darkness clouds of Belgium. They will finally answer they anxious around all this sea of uncertain in 2 hours, when the qualify start. We can use Will or be going to, the present progressive and the simple present to talk about actions and states in a point on future. Monza will be the true advice of the end in this championship.

We use “be going to”, not “will” to when something that happen now can lead to a prediction, in a sure.

EX:

tomorrow we’re going to see a lottery if the rain be confirmed.

He had never done a long duration racing like Le mans. By 2014, Sebastien together Kim Lee and Kurt Haas won the legendary 24h of Le mans for first time. By the end of same year, they won the championship for cars, drivers and manufacturers. By the end of 2016, after the loss for Porsche in WEC, Toyota moved Sebastien to Formula one team, where he’s now. Unit 3: Simple Past. Present Perfect and Present Perfect Progressive.

Race Weekend Day 1 – Only Stars know. The night of 28 July has come. It’s a clear night with lots of stars shining. Beside some part of Teams in Formula One be around the Circuit until late night, drivers, directors of teams and some engineers goes to Hotels have a deserved rest. That’s actually a pretty important part of a race weekend, because one word defines the main quality of anyone involved in motorsports should have, from the cleaner to the driver, Precision. In a sport that details are everything and not even enough, every person that work around it must be focused in details like a Virgo, have a discipline of a Capricorn and be a leader like a Leo, if have luck, wise as a Scorpio. The Team of Toyota rent a big part of rooms available for the weekend on Radisson Blu Palace Hotel, one of most famous in Spa. As used, drivers be in most comfortable rooms, due the money amount that they get during a year, usually they pay by the own room to be or with family or with the girlfriends. In one room in particular, there’s a man with a fierce eye, Caucasian with brown eyes and black hair in a short haircut, it’s Sebastien Matuidi. He’s with 2 kids close of him, a boy and a girl, they’re playing in a video game while are sited in ground, it’s they sons Antoine and Nicole. In one of beds there’s a woman, she’s not gorgeous as usually it’s girlfriends or wife of a formula one race driver, but it’s a beautiful woman at age of 30 years, with a dark brown skin, glasses in your face looking for your notebook, Rachelle Matuidi, wife of Sebastien. His father was an immigrant from Africa and his mother a natural French and they lived a simple life all this time. Beside all difficult with money, Sebastien was able to race and win. For example, he won 24h Le mans last year by Toyota team too, and that opened to him the door for Formula One. For people that only know the Formula one, he’s a high age newbie with lot of arrogance, but for these who know motorsports, he’s already a living legend, but for his family, all that is just an actuation for protect himself from the wild ambience of Formula One. - How much time you have been playing? – Asked Rachelle, a bit annoyed. - Maybe have 3 hours. – Said Sebastien. - It’s already 9PM on Clock, you need to go sleep, Seb. - The kids need to go sleep too. - But I don’t want to go sleep, dad! – Blamed Nicole, annoyed. - You guys aren’t in a vacation, so time to go sleep. – Said Sebastien turning off the video game and taking kids in his arms. During the walking for the bar, Sebastien turn to Rachelle with a sad face. - I’m sorry. – Said Sebastien. - Sorry for? – Asked Rachelle, inexpressive. - For being an arrogant and fucking moron. - I know better than anyone that isn’t being easy to you that change. - Yes but… I’m hating myself, the things that I’ve said, the bragging. Beside they usually obsess with the work, racing drivers are after all humans, like everyone. They have a special shine, maybe because they are doing something dangerous and having fun with that, but in the end and after being a dream for normal people, they are in the end, just like us.   We can use simple past that happened and were completed in the Past. EX: For example, he won 24h Le mans last year. We can use Present Perfect and Present Perfect Progressive to talk about things that started on past and still not complete, using as reference the present time. Ex: I’ve been love you all this time and I still here at your side. And if have for and since in the sentence. EX: They’re married since 2008.

Unit 2: Simple Past and Past Progressive.

Race Weekend – Part 2: Day 1. The afternoon of day 28 of July come with a beautiful sunset at the horizon. It’s passed already 2 hour of the end of second free practique. In internal part of circuit, it was the motorhome of all Teams, where meets and reunions happen to define changes in car setup and race strategy. In McLaren motorhome, Aaron Williams and his partner, the rookie pilot from Germany, Mattias Strobel was discussing about the changes, the car and circuit conditions. Mattias is young, have shiny blue eyes and black hair, it’s the former Formula 2 champion, the main category to access the Formula 1, a brute talent being polished. Together them was the engineer of Aaron, the Japanese Katsuo Hiroshi, the engineer of Mattias, Samantha Heim, an young girl from Germany, the team principal, John Aimer and the British Adrian Byrne, the chef of project. With exception of John that was standing, everyone else was seated around a table with many Tablets and papers over them. They were checking and discussing the information that all team collected all day. Aaron was furious, because in both practique of day he had problems in track, the new parts developed didn’t worked as expected and millions of Euros were spent, the glory of Sunday seems a bit more distant at this moment. - The car died right after I adjust the setup for fuel economy and I’m sure that I pressed all buttons right! – Screamed Aaron. - Yes, looks like the engine didn’t answered well for that setup, and we need it at most for Sunday. – Said Samantha, insecure. - And also, the car suffered with oversteer in high speed turns, Mattias almost crashed in Pouhon 3 hours ago. – Talked Adrian, nervous. - The car was ok, when the temperature raised, I lost the control. - The high possibility of rain at Sunday only can make everything a mess, we need to define an emergency setup for that condition too. – Said Mattias. After this phrase, Aaron mind shined and he got an idea. - Now that you talked about it, Mattias, maybe it’s the setup of the pressure of tires for this track the problem – Said Aaron. – After All, more I ran, worse the car was becoming. - Not it… It’s too hot. – Interrupted John. - Too hot? - Yes, maybe the wheel design it’s affecting the internal part of tires and making the tires lose pressure too fast. - Today was the hottest day in Belgium since 1977. The next FP3 will define our weekend. – Talked Adrian. – While you guys was driving, I was reading some data, I have an idea on mind that can give us some hope. While it, everyone else stand up without say a word, the meet was done, they knew what need to look and adjust for the Saturday. But they knew, that Friday would be a long day for reach the Toyotas and keep the dream alive. We can use Simple Past to describe an action that was complete in an specific time in the past. Unit 1: Simple past and Simple Present Progressive.

Race Weekend – FP1. It’s a clear morning with a high and majestic Sun on the sky. At ground, in that race circuit in Belgium, the smell of oil and burned tire plus itself with the loud and symphonic engine working at the finest, it’s a race weekend. This time, the round 12 of 18 of Formula 1 World Championship, Belgium Grand Prix. At the morning of July 28, the first of 3 Free Practique or just FP1 is happening. In that year, the British, Aaron Williams, driver of McLaren it’s having a hard time to keep itself the title of World Champion against the Brazilian driver of Ferrari, José Santana and the arrogant French driver of Toyota, the newbie Sebastien Matuidi. In a fierce duel, Aaron lead the championship having 138 points against 135 of José and 134 of Sebastien. The rough time it’s shaking the world of motorsport that didn’t had a fierce fight for the title like that in years. In the boxes, the loud work of all team crew around the silver McLaren car annoy a bit Aaron, he’s in a room discussing with his Engineer, the Japanese Katsuo Hiroshi. Due the delay of car be ready, the team is late for tests the new parts, which can mean a horrible weekend. Looking to display at his front, Aaron seems impressed with performance of Sebastien in his Toyota. - The way that he accelerates is so fierce, what the hell? He’s passing by Eau Rouge like nothing but straight line. - His adjust of suspension is pretty good. – Said Katsuo. - But something is strange, the car doesn’t look unstable. It’s like an unstoppable bullet. - Aaron-kun, that dry time and not much wind, it’s obvious. He has in his hands some papers. - What’s up Joseph? – Asked Aaron, with a smile. - Two things. Joseph give the papers to Katsuo, right after give a quick look about what’s in his hands, a malicious smile draw in his face. - What happened, Katsuo-Chan? – Asked Aaron moving himself on chair for see the paper. - You won’t have a date with my sister if keep talking with me like that. - Oh, gomenasai, Katsuo-Dono. Katsuo give the papers to Aaron that like his engineer, draw a devil smile in his face. Sunday time 12:00 – 16:00, 90% Chance of have moderated to heavy Rain. - I’m love with that circuit. If all be confirmed, it’ll be the fourth race with rain at season, all other three was won by Aaron and it’s his only 3 victories at the moment on championship.

We use simple present to describe actions that usually happen often. Ex: Omelette it’s usually mad. We use present progressive to describe what is happening now and or in the extended present. Ex: He’s passing by Eau Rouge like nothing but straight line. Non-Action Verbs/Stative Verbs aren’t used in progressive form even when it describes an action. Ex:   I’m love with that circuit.
