I’m sorry some people were nasty about it to you. Yelling at people is never a good way to get your point across, so I’m sorry that some people are being overly nasty about telling you your dog is not a wolf. But I really hope you do some research about this stuff. Your puppy is really beautiful and I’m sure he’s an awesome dog, but unfortunately that’s what he is; a dog.
Please check out this book called “Between Dog and Wolf” and check out the chapter on identification. Your dog and your dog’s dad/sister bear all the hallmarks of pure dogs.
In comparison, here’s my dog. He’s 100% dog, no wolf at all, and he looks something like your dog’s dad.
I’m not writing you this because I want to be a jerk and be like “NO YOU’RE WRONG” but because it is genuinely important that dogs do not go labeled as wolves. I could easily claim my dog was a wolf because that sounds way cooler, but then I’d be encouraging people to go out and buy wolves or wolfdogs, which can be pretty terrible pets. People or animals could get hurt.
It’s really, really common for people to sell dogs and claim they’re wolves/wolfdogs because it makes the dogs easier to sell. If these people lied to you, then it isn’t your fault at all. But it is important to learn. If you’ve taken your puppy to the vet for his shots, I’m sure the vet can confirm for you that he’s a dog. Which is good! Wolves and wolfdogs can be very, very bad pets!
Anyway, Apollo is adorable. Have fun with your new puppy, and if you’re still convinced he’s a wolf, then I still encourage you to do a bunch of wolf/wolfdog ownership info!
So the other day I posted a photo of Apollo my 12 week old wolf puppy and everyone freaked the fuck out saying I was lying. Here is a picture of him, his mom and his dad (also his sis from an earlier litter). I’ve been to their house, know their owners, pet and played with both parents plus their litter. I don’t need someone on the internet to validate whether or not my pup is a wolf but hopefully this will make people stop sending me and my pup death threats.

I wanted to submit this to you, but I’m newish to tumblr and wasn’t sure how.
This is my British Timber Dog, which is an off-shoot of the Northern Inuit Dog. I get asked almost every day if he’s a wolfdog. I use a lot of information from your blog (and also the awesome book Between Dog and Wolf) to explain to people that he’s just a dog.
I just wanted to say thanks for all your information, and that you’re free to use any images of Kenai as example photos of a wolfy-looking dog for your informational resources. I want to do my part to help educate and end misrepresentation.

This is Kenai, a 15 month old British Timber Dog, at Yosemite National Park.
British Timber Dogs, along with Northern Inuits, Tamaskans, and several others, are wolf-look-alike breeds. Kenai has no wolf content in his pedigree.
