Why do you need to exorcise spirits? Surely if you're godspoused, you'd have some divine protection from spirits, even if evil spirits did exist. What proof do you have that spirits can actually be evil?

Oh boy where do we start with this.. Okay anon I'm going to break this down into sections for you.

Why do you need to exorcise spirits?

Because, as a part of my duty as a guide and psychopomp, I sometimes have to remove or loosen the attachments that the ghost has to someone or something. It's not good for them or for anyone near if they stay, it creates imbalance and disruption, and fear.

Divine protection because of Godspousal

We met way after I begun my path, he's offered and I've said no thank you. The diplomatic immunity and being left alone by high status death spirits once his name is mentioned is more than enough from him. I don't need him to fight my battles.

How do you prove spirits are evil

See anon. You're fundamentally misunderstanding my practice here, good and evil isn't my business. Especially not in the realm of spirits, I don't get paid enough to care about that.

So, let me break down the principles to you.

We have us, the humans, and we have ghosts. Which can be souls refusing to or unable to move on for any reason. Or they can be ghouls, which are essentially manifestations of an obsession.

Ghosts and humans, should not interact for too long. Planned and supervised, such as mild necromancy, ancestral worship and all hallows eve are fine, set times and planned and prepared for.

However, if a ghost stays around for too long it disrupts the energy.. Let's call it eco system, within the family and house. People fall ill, get hurt more easily and at extreme cases get possessed by other spirits being drawn in.

My job, as an exorcist, is to

Diagnose and identify

Treat and communicate

Banish and cross over

Prevent and seal

I diagnose what's wrong, identify the cause. After that I communicate with the spirit, and treat anyone harmed. After that I banish any ghouls, help the spirits cross over and do the exorcism. As a final measure to prevent I seal the place for a set amount of time, spiritual quarantine essentially.

So no, I don't believe any spirit is inheritly evil. Are there some who I personally disagree with? Yes, but I keep that outside of my practice, and take solace in knowing everyones time is limited.

My interests lie in ensuring everyone is healthy, safe and to keep the worlds balanced and clear of disruptions. For what it's worth, I've had to lead dream walking humans back as well, with a similar process in the realm of spirits.

I go by many names, you may call me Lian, the keeper of lanterns.

This is a place for me to talk about my personal praxis, spirituality and religious stuff.

I'm a Shinto Taoist, with my own personal flair due to material restrictions.

My practice centers in death, helping spirits cross over and exorcisms of anything causing mayhem or despair. I utilise astral projection, trance work, witchcraft and whatever I feel like in my practice.

Well, I have a hard time choosing my favourite aspect. Maybe how much there is to learn at all times? Or the slip of permission I have to go anywhere because everyone and everything will die in the end.

My least favourite is.. How entitled death gods and lords can be, and how eager they are to recruit me as their personal assistant when I've made it very clear that I'm Not Interested.

It is! I could go on a whole ramble about it but in its essence, all hallows eve is a day where all ghosts and spirits are able to enter the realm of humans and be with us. Which is typically why gifts for them are left at their gravestones the day after where I live
