he never thought he’d find love again, let alone have another kid, but he doesn’t question it.

“can you give me another break again, ‘ji?” you ask him, though he’s up from the couch as soon as he hears your voice.

his chest is so, so warm against your back- he’s home. the hands he’s killed with, that have been bruised more than they’ve been held, are gentle as they slide beneath your rounded tummy.

“our girl givin’ ya trouble?” he inquires, the smirk audible in his voice. “she must take after me.”

the moment he lifts his hands, you groan in utter delight as the pressure on your lower back is momentarily relieved. he cradles your baby bump like the gift it is, eight months of love and care between his palms.

“thank you,” you express your gratitude, head tilting back until it rests on his shoulder. “ugh, i cant wait to breathe again. feels like my spine is gonna snap.”

his laugh is more felt than heard, this thumbs absentmindedly stroking your skin, feeling the light kicks of protest from his girl as if she’s wanting to be let down.

he rests his chin atop your head, still in awe that he gets to have a second shot at this life, at being a part of something so bright and loving.

once you’ve had enough of a “break” he lowers your tummy back down and plants a kiss on your temple. later he’ll pick up megumi from school, bring him home and spend the rest of the day with his family.

and another month later, he’s over the moon when he gets to meet his new baby girl. <3
