“Self-Care”

If there’s one thing that is trending in our society today. It’s the art of truly fulfilling the idea and expectations of “self-care”. However, “self-care” is different for everyone. Whether you work out, paint, or read, it’s all so that it makes you feel good about yourself. The idea is so simple, so comforting, so soothing. All words that you can think about when taking care of your inner peace. Or inner soul rather. You know those sayings? That “At the end of the day, it always comes down to yourself.” Or “You need to take care of your inner peace.” I think I speak for most people that you should treat yourself and have some sort of self-care ritual.
Take me for instance, I do a variety of things to care of my inner self. I am a college student, living all the way across the world away from my parents. It’s hard, I won’t lie. Adjusting without your parents is.. well.. stressful.. But through it all, you need to find things for yourself to make you feel at least a little sane because to be completely honest. As a young adult, it’s a tough world without your mom and dad. So for me, I have a very tough course that I chose in college, and it’s very stressful. I always find myself just constantly studying and never really experiencing life because well.. I don’t want to fail obviously. So in the meantime, it’s the little things I do at home that make me feel at least a little bit good, even if I failed my Micro quiz the other day.
Every morning, when I wake up, I always try to write down things that I need to do for the day. This makes me feel so productive and organized throughout the day because, for me, I’m not the type of person that likes to do nothing all day. Personally, I NEED to do something constantly. Next, I prepare my things and maybe review some material before I head downstairs to eat breakfast. Again, preparation brings me peace because staying organized through this chaotic life is a pro, especially if you are a busy college student. After all that, I eat breakfast. Now, this. Breakfast is everything to me. FOOD IS LIFE! I love food. It’s really something that brings me joy and makes everything inside feel good. So I HAVE to have breakfast every day. Or else, for me, it’s a bad day. After that, I get dressed, get tea to go, and then grab my things and go to school. That’s it. Everything I do in the morning to prepare for the day is an example of self-care and helps me bring satisfaction throughout the day.
In short, bringing some joy into your life, even if it’s the littlest thing, to take care of yourself can alter your perspective on life. It can motivate you to keep going, no matter what obstacles that life may throw at you. Doing something for yourself every day strengthens your sense of well-being.
