Calum’s couch surfing wasn’t ideal, but at least every so often it’d given him a place to shower and borrow some blankets to avoid the street. He was lucky the night before had been once of those nights and he wasn’t looking totally disgusting when Kataleya of all people had bumped into him. “Apparently so. I’m sure it’ll come out beautifully though.” He teased as he shoved his hands into his pockets. If he were being honest he’d tell her he had no idea what he was doing. What do you do when you have all the time in the world thanks to getting kicked out by his aunt and uncle? Hunting down a job was kind of hard without a stable place to live. “I’m just out for a walk you know?”

“I just couldn’t help it, they’re adorable.” She said giggling like an idiot as she pulled her bottom lip between her teeth. Tilting her head she could see he had a lot of worry in his eyes. They were filled with stress, fear, and he was definitely tired of something. “Yeah?” She asked him. Putting the lens cap back on her camera she placed it in her camera case. “Me too, it’s boring now that my brother is gone for the summer.. with his work” she said softly. If there was one thing she hated was knowing her brother felt the need to work for their father. And knowing how dangerous the lifestyle is in itself, stressed her out. “Hey, do you wanna come hang out at my house? I feel like we haven’t seen one another in forever.” She asked him with a smile.

Kataleya was walking around enjoying the sun and stuck in her own little world as she started taking pictures. Tilting her head as she noticed a sweet elderly couple walking down the walk way, holding hands. Giggling as she saw the old man pinch who she assumed was his wife’s behind. Backing up she gently bumped into someone as she snapped a pic. Looking over her shoulder, she blushed. “You caught me being a creep” she joked as she looked down at her camera. “What are you up to?” she asked the person curiously. Seeing the sun making the perfect shadow on their features she couldn’t help but to take a photo of them.

Calum knew what she was about to say almost immediately after she started it. It was a sentence that prior to her would have driven him insane to have to hear. He never felt like he was made stronger as a result of any of his trauma. If anything it’d left him with severe PTSD, flashbacks, anxiety, and a fucked up moral sense of right and wrong, but that was all something he chose to keep to himself. The only one he’d ever told about his episodes being Jane. “Yeah I know exactly what you mean.” He said softly, agreeing regardless of his uncertainty. His eyes followed hers, glancing down as she wrapped her arms around his waist. “I think that’s really sweet. I want to be the same way. I wanna help people.” Calum said, as he started inside, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. “We can go to yours?” He said, due to being slightly unsure of just what sort of mess had been left behind after the time he’d spent with Georgie earlier in the evening.

Granted even though she hated the saying, she definitely suffered from PTSD, Anxiety, and so on. But to help people not feel bad for her she’d always say that stupid saying. And it’s not that she wanted to use it with Calum, she just couldn’t bare the hurt in his eyes for what she’s survived. She hoped that one day they could bare their truths about what they’ve been through. “You know, I often want to do the opposite of my families business is. I want to rescue these women and men.. I want to show them they are worth a damn..” she said. Even if she didn’t believe it, in her own self. With Calum her guard was down always and that being true, he could probably see that she didn’t see that in herself. As her hand rested on his side above his waistline, her thumb caressed his side as they walked into the hotel. “Sounds good to me, besides I’m ready to get out of these heels” she joked with light laughter. “Hey.. You don’t regret what we did earlier do you?” She asked him As they got into the elevator she pressed the button for her floor. It’s not that he gave off that vibe as if he did, she just would hate it if he did. “I hope we find out who the hell did this childish bullshit.” She looked up at him. Kataleya hated that anyone would get a kick out of doing something like this to anyone.

@Kataleya: My scars remind me that I did indeed survive my deepest wounds. That in itself is an accomplishment. And they bring to mind something else, too.

@Kataleya: They remind me that the damage life has inflicted on me has, in many places, left me stronger and more resilient. What hurt me in the past has actually made me better equipped to face the present.

“I know I am” he responded with a smile. He did know it too. They were best friends, but they were also more than that. She was probably the only person who truly knew him, inside and out. Moving closer to her as she pulled him near, he continued to kissed her. Letting his hands trail down her back and stopping beneath her butt cheeks to lift her up. “Oh yeah?” he breathed against her lips, his own lips parting as she nibbled on his bottom lip. “Maybe we should go somewhere a little more private?” he suggested in a lower tone. His eyes hungrily searching hers for an answer.

“Good, I am lucky too” she smiled at him. Quentin was definitely one of her best of friends. He knew everything about her, even everything she’d been through and not once had he treated her delicate, or different. She, herself knew a lot about Quentin and return. She enjoyed that they were as close as they were, with no expectation for one another but friendship. There was no denying the sexual chemistry between the two. Wrapping her legs around him, feeling him she groaned against his lips, nodding her head. “Mmhm” she replied as she massaged his lips, with her own. Looking into his hazel eyes she pulled her bottom lip between her teeth. “You already know, to lead the way” she said in a soft one, of need and lust. “If you want private, we go somewhere else. If not, then right here.. Right now” she smirked.

Calum felt his heart break when he realized she’d been in a similar situation that he’d been in only a few months before. No one deserved to be treated that way, especially not her and the knowledge of it infuriated him. But instead of letting that anger show his face turned to one of understanding. “I mean I obviously don’t have much to hide either. I’m sorry you went through that. I think I have a little understanding of what that’s like. Mine’s not really not in my life anymore either.” He said, which was technically true if you considered death not being apart of his life. When she reached out to stroke his jaw he leaned into her gentle touch. “I’d like that a lot actually.” Cal said softly as his eyes found hers. 

As she caressed his cheek, she smiled a soft but sad smile knowing he had been through hell and back like she had. “You know, as much as I really hate the saying of what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger.. It in a way does, although I fear a part of me will always be.. Broken.. Ya know?” she said with a slight shrug. Maybe one day both of them, will find true happiness in this crazy, bullshit words. Looking into his eyes, she licked her lips and nodded slowly. “Me too, I think you’ll find I tend to be a girl, that enjoys taking care of those she cares about” she laughed lightly at herself. Wrapping her arm around his waist she tilted her head “My room, or yours?” she asked him as they started to walk towards the hotel entrance.

“My night…..” she took a deep breath and chugged the rest of her beer, “has been pretty shit. I am holding out how for this party though.” 

Finishing off her second beer already, she grabbed another one and began to drink it. “I’m sorry, it was shit. Maybe we can turn that around for you” she smiled over at the girl.

“Yeah, yeah” he grinned playfully, rolling his eyes. “That’s very true, and this very well might be” he nodded, raising his brow in suspense. Laughing as she let out a shreak, and he jumped into the pool, hge let her pull away from him. Coming up for air himself before she dunked him under again. When he came back up, he laughed, and flung his wet hair out of his face.“Hey.. You love me. Don’t forget that” he teased. Pulling her closer to him before pressing his lips into hers.

Putting her hands up to shield the water that was flung from his hair laughing. “You’re so lucky, to even have my love” she teased back. “You’re such a” she stopped as he pressed his lips to hers after pulling him closer to her. Humming softly into the kiss she rested her hand on the side of his neck as she parted her lips to deepen the kiss. Pulling his bottom lip between her’s she nibbled gently. “I see the motive now, Serial killer” she teased with a giggle against his lips, before she pressed her lips back to his, deepening the kiss. Kataleya and Quentin hadn’t made out or been together since before Valentines Day, and she’d be lying if she hadn’t missed it.

“Mmm, maybe just a little bit” he teased, measuring the amount with his fingers playfully. “You know I would be. Do I really need to say it?” It was true, she was his best friend, so of course he would be lost without her. “I should have figured“ he laughed, shaking his head. “First you go off with a potential serial killer, then you jump in bed with him, and now you are going to dive into a pool with him” he teased. Laughing as she threatened to pull him in with her. “Alright, fair enough..” he replied. Taking a step back before jumping into the pool with her on his back.

“No you don’t, but it still doesn’t change the fact that I like to hear it” she laughed, hugging him as he still held her on his back. “Listen, we already know that neither of us regret that adventure of me going off with a potential serial killer and hooking up with him. I mean this possibly could be the moment you decide to kill me, isn’t it” she couldn’t even hide the laughter from her tone. “Quentin...” she said and screeched as he jumped in with her on his back. Letting go of him slightly she came up for air and grabs his shirt pulling him towards her laughing. “Jerk” she said as she placed both hands on top of his head and dunked him.

“Mhm, we do both know that” he grinned, laughing as she patted his chest. “Yup.. you’re the boss” he replied, only to let out another laugh when she told him to decide. “Damn, Kat.. Do I gotta do all the work?” he teased. Walking with her down the hallway, he tried to decide where they should go. Ultimately deciding on bringing her to the pool. “Should we go swimming?” he asked, before pretending to contemplate throwing her in.

“Damn, Q. Don’t act like you’d be lost without me or anything” she teased him, as she playfully pinched him. “Damn, right I am” she laughed. “Duhhh, you know this already” she couldn’t help but laugh some more. As he was walking around carrying her she relaxed her head on his shoulder. “Don’t you even think about it” she tightened her grip on him. “I go, you go too” she said sternly, but laughter laced in her tone.

He turned around and squatted down a bit, to make it easier for her to climb onto his back and he nodded his head. “Mhm, ready.. go” he instructed. Waiting for her to jump on, and wrapping his arms under her thighs once she did. “I’ll take you anywhere you wanna go, baby” he smiled, turning his head to look over at her, as she rested her chin on his shoulder.

“I guess so” she laughed, wrapping her arms lazily around his shoulders letting her hands rest on his chest. “We both know I would be” she patted his chest, giggling. “Oh, is that so” she laughed shaking her head. “I guess you’ll just have to take me where you wanna go, cause I was just seriously aimlessly walking around, bored out of my mind”

“I bet you crash before you even know it” he grinned, teasing her as he looked up at her. He picked up his phone and stood up, placing it into his back pocket before walking closer to her. His eyes gazing down to her feet to see she was still wearing heels, regardless of her attire change. “Do you want a piggy back ride?” he asked, shaking his head at how silly she was.

“I never took you for a betting man” she smirked as she teased him. Nodding her head she smiled, thankful that he was a great friend to her. Always looking out for her, it seemed. “You’re amazing” she said as she waited for him to turn around so she could jump on his back. “Ready??” she asked laughing before she placed her hands on his shoulders and then jumped up, wrapping her legs around his waist. Resting her chin on his shoulder she looked over at him. “Where are you taking me, now?” she laughed.

Calum felt a sense of reassurance at her gentle smile but it did little to settle his guilt. “I know. I can be so clumsy you know? That Casper kid packs a punch.” He added as he rubbed at his jaw. He still hadn’t had the chance to ice it which meant it was still pretty sore but he’d been doing his best to ignore it for the sake of being at the party. “You have?” He asked suddenly realizing what she’d said. “When have you had to use that excuse? No one should be hitting you.” He said, a hint of confusion and concern in his voice as his expression changed. He nodded his head in appreciation that she thought he deserved it but he was feeling far from it. “I’ve just been feeling kinda off tonight you know?” 

“I mean being clumsy is the worst” she smiled over at him, biting her bottom lip laughing softly. Her smile fading as she realized she just admitted to being abused. Looking down, she shook her head. It wasn’t about her right now, and wanted to focus on him. Knowing her eyes were burning because she didn’t like people really knowing her ex beat her. Looking up at him with tear filled eyes she just shrugged. Clearing her throat. “It’s over and done with.. He’s out of my life.. My scars.. You saw earlier” she nodded her head to indicate her ex caused them. Kataleya got a fearful look as she started to think that he wished they hadn’t slept together. “Yeah..” she nodded her head. Reaching her hand out to gently stroke his jaw. “You should get some ice on this, wanna go get some together?” she asked him.
