It was quite a marvel to see, and many others looked about the same(...) Liu Qingge withdrew his sword, his body swaying like he was still a bit dizzy. He pointed it at Luo Binghe. “You, let go of him.”

Chapter 13: Coercion

Loser middle schooler Binghe hanging out at his mom’s laundromat after school and disabled Shen Yuan who brings his laundry there to be washed and folded since he can’t do it himself. Binghe always helps him carry it back to his apartment, and if he makes excuses to stay in Yuan-ge’s apartment longer than necessary, that’s between him and god. 

Eventually Shen Yuan starts tutoring Binghe on laundry days and helping him with homework. Binghe gets to work in Yuan-ge’s nice air conditioned apartment with his fancy computer and brand name snacks. Sometimes he comes over on other days to study before tests.

Eventually, when he knocks on Yuan-ge’s door in the morning to bring him breakfast and the man who opens the door is a stranger with a beauty mark clearly wearing pajamas, he attacks. Things only get worse when Yuan-ge hobbles out of his bedroom with a very obvious hickey.

sqq taunts lqg into arm wrestling him, and whoever wins gets to make the loser do whatever they say. but sqq is pushing with all his might and lqg is just. not. budging. at all. not even a single cm of movement.

sqq’s now practically on the table, leaning his entire body weight against lqg’s muscular, absurdly sculpted, god-like arm, and honestly it’s getting ridiculous (but it’s also kind of hot, sue him!).

meanwhile, lqg is just watching him calmly, barely reacting, but the corners of his mouth are slightly curved as he watches sqq struggle (and fail).

at the end, despite sqq’s increasingly dramatic appeals (“qingge, please…have mercy”), lqg does not let him win. sqq loses, and as punishment, he has to run laps with lqg in the morning.

except, well, that doesn’t end up happening either.

because when lqg tries to wake him up, sqq barely cracks one eye open, saying in a hoarse, deliberately ruined voice, “mhmm…qingge pushed this husband to his limits last night...spare me...”

and lqg freezes, his face turning a bright red. he ends up sitting beside the bed, gently rubbing at sqq’s lower back while sqq hums contently.

(ofc lqg knows sqq is acting coy. but when faced with that voice, that disheveled look early in the morning….

he really can’t help but give in.)

I'm sorry guys I have to say it 😔 we as a fandom don't appreciate Liu Qingge enough

(we appreciate him a lot actually it's just never enough because he's too amazing)

what do you MEAN he was off fighting Luo Binghe every day for five years just to retrieve Shen Qingqiu's body? why does nobody ever actually focus on this 😭 platonic or romantic this is such ride or die behaviour, I fear I could never be Shen Qingqiu because no amount of comphet could ever stop me from marrying this man immediately for that

like doing this for Shen Qingqiu, his friend, even though he was already dead was THE focus of his life for FIVE ENTIRE YEARS. a man known as the Bai Zhan War God, entirely unaccustomed to losing but not willing to give up. because that would mean giving up on his friend's memory, and that wasn't something Liu Qingge could do.

can you imagine how much it must have hurt, physically as well as emotionally, but he just kept going back because he couldn't win but he couldn't ever give up either. all he wanted was to protect Shen Qingqiu because he cared about him, because protecting people is what Liu Qingge does and at first it was an obligation but then it was just because he wanted to, because that was his friend so of course he would, but when it mattered most he couldn't save him. even though Shen Qingqiu had saved his life.

from Liu Qingge's perspective, Shen Qingqiu lost his life for nothing at all. and Liu Qingge couldn't even make it right by putting his body to rest for him.
