with her eyebrows furrowed she nearly  STARES  at him as he speaks. it takes all of her to not just blow up on him. he has no fucking idea just H O W much it pains if you cough for nearly 30 minutes straight, your entire chest ends up cramping up, and that right now is being the issue. her lungs are simply not working like they should, and the excessive coughing only makes matters worse. but despite being mad about careless statements she’s heard waaay too often in her short life kami can’t help but let out an amused sounding laugh – all while coughing her stupid, not working lungs out, of course. give her about five minutes to calm down from that fit and she clears her throat to loosen up the mucus that eventually ended up blocking her throat. gross, I know. 

❝  I’m not gonna die.  ❞  she eventually states, the amusement still lingering, lacing her sentence from start to end. why is everyone always assuming she’s gonna die?  why is everyone always so concerned about her closing her eyes? let a girl have some rest after coughing, it’s exhausting. life overall is pretty exhausting with cystic fibrosis, some rest is well deserved. ❝  I know you mean well but.. trust me. I am not gonna die just yet, I still have around 4 months to go, maybe longer. you know how it is, you’re supposed to die, they find new treatments and  PRONTO; I live for another five years. that’s just how it is. accept the fact you’re talking to a dying girl, if mister death wants me right now,  SO BE IT!  ❞  while speaking she sits up carefully, leaning towards with her hand stretching out until her index finger pokes his forehead. it’s funny when people visit her at the hospital, they always look so full of worry, some even speak about how sad it is that such young beautiful girl has to go through all of this. yeah, it’s exhausting like mentioned many times before, but really– you get used to everything. including spending most of your life within a hospital.

❝  talking about it as if it’s okay doesn’t make it okay, just for your information.  ❞  retorts kami with her arms crossing above her chest, lips pressed into a thin line. despite it having nothing to do with her she feels the need to defend the girl – after all kami was nothing less than a long term patient of the hospital, she’s spent nearly her entire life inside of this building, made friends, maybe fell in love once or twice with patients, which either ended in them dying way too soon, or them getting out as soon as they became healthy. ah, the hospital life surely was great. of course, by now she spent a lot of time at home, too, except when something happens, and for the usual two weeks every two months – such as right now.  ❝  you can’t just come into a hospital look at a random girl and tell her she’s a minus two on your hotness list. in fact, you should not come into a hospital to look at girls to begin with. it wasn’t .. okay.. maybe.. she isn’t the prettiest, surely.. but you cannot just tell her. she’s a 4, at least.  ❞  now, that defending didn’t work all too well, did it ? instead of jumping right in and curse him out she ends up somewhat agreeing with his statement. good job. the girl, a patient who’s been here for only a week, is talking to one of the nurses, crying. of course she’s crying, from the few conversations the young girl had with her it became clear that her insecurities are HUGE. and that nearly everything makes her cry. what she has ? no idea. maybe she’s just here for the food, that apparently happened before in one of the wards. her gaze moves from the broken down girl back to the male, clearing her throat.  ❝  now, may I direct you to the exit, because Nurse Kim over there is looking at you, and trust me she’s a dragon, she’ll tear you apart for making one of her patients cry.  ❞
