All that remained is war without reason.

A magnum opus. A cold tower of steel. A machine built to end war is always a machine built to continue war. You were beautiful, outstretched like antennas to heaven. You were beyond your creators. You reached out for god, and you fell. None were left to speak your eulogy. No final words, no concluding statement. No point. Perfect closure.

my favorite type of ff7 headcanons/fanfics is what I like to call "Negative Fucksiroth", AKA Sephiroth who could literally not be bothered to show more than one emotion at a time and the emotion in question is exhaustion. My unpopular opinion is that Zack Fair is just as much of a corporate brainwashed footsoldier as anybody else in Shinra. People talk about how Zack is the "only good one" meanwhile he's still completely dedicated to the company and constantly tells himself that Shinra is good because they said they were, they promise, SOLDIERs aren't monsters!!

People don't understand that when they play Remake, the "shinra bastards" that everyone wants to blow up and literally murder includes Zack himself

one of the funniest ff7 stories I remember is how Square Enix, the multimillionaire company, tried to make NFTs of ff7, the game that taught us to blow up multimillionaire companies that destroyed the environment. Shortly after they tried selling them, people flooded their comments/emails with "CAN'T YOU HEAR THE PLANET CRYING OUT IN PAIN??" and similar quotes, and Square Enix quickly stopped selling them.

like most of us know by now that 主人 (shujin) means master but also husband and owner-

it just still makes me feel insane.

he could have said 主将 (shushō) for a something that called to mind his position as cloud's commander/military leader or 主君 (shukun) for a nobility lord and master kind of vibe. he could have avoided 主 (omo) altogether and placed himself as cloud's 師匠(shishō), a teacher/mentor in the sense that he's guiding and leading and shaping him. there are like a million subtle variations on 主 (which means leader/lord/master even on its own) that don't also imply head of household domestic bliss.

but no he was like cloud i'm your HUSBAND you have to commit war crimes with me.

He's not even reading at this point. He's not moving. He's just frozen in complete horror and misery at realizing that his entire life since birth is basically a lie. His friends are gone. His caretakers violated him. He's not even fully human. He went to war for nothing. He killed people for nothing. He endured all that trauma for nothing. He was only ever a pawn, a piece in a larger, crueler game. A weapon. An experiment.

And he festered alone in this mindset for an entire week.
