Today I went to a talk on fashion. A former student talked about how she is doing in the fashion industry. I found it very cool to get the inside scoop on what's to potentially come. I later was at another talk about clothing. And I have a new understanding of where my clothes come from and who makes them. I feel it is important to know these things so you can ideally appreciate the labor that is going into making your clothes and so you can try to shop more environmentally sustainable. There will be a picture of my clothing activity when I finish it.

Fashion
Here are some more samples I have done for fashion. My designer Yayoi Kusama loves polka dots and also does feminist art. So I made this to represent just that. I made this with knit and crochet.

Fashion
Using the artist Yayoi Kusama's work I took color out of it and I think it would make a cool outfit with her design in color and the shade black.

Artist research for fashion.
The artist I am studying is Yayoi Kusama. When I saw her work I thought it was the coolest thing. I love the bright colors and all the funky patterns, especially the polka dots. This is some stuff I played around with using some of her work and adding to it.

Printmaking
I took the fabric that I printed on and put it on my half-chaps as a collage. Half-chaps are what I wear when I ride English. And I knew I wanted to incorporate them somehow. I then took a photo I took of my collage and then added some filters to it to show variety. I did a traditional black and white to stick with my first print.

Movement
For my project I am focusing on horses and what makes them move. I have been an equestrian since age 6 so I thought this would be a good topic under the movement prompt. I am not focusing so much on the horse but rather on what is around the horse. So I studied horseshoes, half-chaps, and reins, and used that as my inspiration and foundation for my pieces.
The three disciplines I have are.
Fashion
Printmaking
Sculpture

Artist research for print.
I came across the artist Elizabeth Catlett. Elizabeth Catlett was an African American print artist. She did graphic design, but her prints of African women and men were what I was looking at. Although my project is on horses I was interested in her line designs so I used that as inspiration for my print.

Artist research for Print
I was inspired by the artist Ann Agee. I love the blue pottery that she did. I wanted to do a similar style for print. From fine china to print.

Printmaking week 2
I made a horse stencil. It was my first time making a stencil. I found cutting it out a little hard to get used to. But overall, I think my print turned out all right.

Printmaking second week.
I printed on paper and fabric. I did have some trouble with printing on the see-through fabric. Every time I would print it ended up very light. I had fun printing on different materials. I made to this print to show movement in the illusion of a horse moving. I showed this by overlapping my print onto one another and I think it turned out really well.

Artest research Sculpture
I was inspired to make my piece out of cardboard horseshoes because I thought it was cool that Ollie Holeman makes sculptures out of horseshoes.
