Me ha tomado dos meses terminar esta serie de ilustraciones, así que estoy muy feliz de por fin poder mostrarlas!

Desde hace poco más de un año me convertí en un ávido consumidor de series BL asiáticas, sobretodo tailandesas, así que me sé de memoria los clichés y las temáticas recurrentes. Pero I told sunset about you me tomó totalmente por sorpresa. ¿Realmente se puede esperar algo nuevo de otra serie sobre estudiantes? La respuesta en este caso es sí.

Sabemos que ellos tienen un lazo muy fuerte desde pequeños. Sabemos que ellos se gustan, y ellos saben que se gustan, uno tiene miedo, el otro está más dispuesto a aceptarlo, su amistad disfrazada de rivalidad los acerca y los aleja constantemente, hay mucha confusión, y esa confusión y poca claridad lleva a complicar sus sentimientos y a lastimarse mutuamente.

Se debe dejar en claro que está historia no es solo un romance juvenil, tiene un gran peso el sueño en común de Teh y Oh-Aew, la presencia de sus amigos y familia, no es una historia de ensueño e idílica donde el mundo que los rodea no se ve afectado.

Otro punto a tomar en cuenta es el trabajo visual, el simbolismo de colores y la sutileza de cada toma, un deleite, que es lo que al final me ha inspirado para hacer estos estudios.

Para esta serie de ilustraciones he tomado como punto de referencia el mar de Phuket. Es ahí donde se reconcilian después de años, donde se persiguen, donde hablan por primera vez de lo que sienten, donde hablan de sus sueños, donde hacen una promesa, donde se sienten ellos mismos, donde se rompen el corazón, donde ven cumplida su promesa. El mar quiéralo o no, se ha convertido en su cómplice y guardián.
