⋆˚✿˖° how to feel better⋆˚✿˖°
because i know it's hard, my love. but it's time to take charge of your life. here's how you can do that, even when you feel like shit ♡
drink water!! seriously, you will feel so much better. i know everyone harps on about this but it's really true. it will help you feel more alert, it will help your skin clear up... and, most importantly, you won't die of dehydration. trust me on this one
open your windows. even if you can't get out of bed some days, getting some fresh air in your room will help so much. i know that in some places it is not really possible but if you can, open it for at least a little while. get that air circulation going. take some deep breaths if you want. even your tiny, not up to code basement window will let in enough fresh air to perk you up
eat something. please, please do not go a whole day on an empty stomach. sometimes eating seems like the worst thing in the world, and sometimes just the thought of food can make your stomach turn. but even a handful of nuts or a small sandwich or even a smoothie will help you feel better. i promise
get dressed. sometimes you just wanna rot in your pjs all day. completely get it. sometimes i do too. but even changing out of your pajamas and into a hoodie and sweatpants, or a tshirt and shorts, or anything, will improve your mood so much
listen to your favourite music. put on your favourite album, or your feel-good playlist, or even just your favourite song on repeat. if you feel up for it, try something new. or look up aesthetic playlists on youtube. you can find playlists for anything between villains destroying the world to avenge their lovers, to romanticizing life, and many more
breathe!! take some deep breaths. step outside if you can. ground yourself in your body (i can make a post about grounding strategies if that would be helpful). let yourself just exist
go outside. whether it be two minutes on your balcony, or fifteen minutes in your backyard, or two hours in the park or the river valley, getting outside for any length of time will make you feel so much better. when i've been rotting all day, and feel like crap, stepping outside briefly and taking some breaths helps me feel like a real person again
put your phone away. stop scrolling. easier said than done, i know, but you're gonna thank me once the doomscrolling cycle is broken. read a book, listen to music, make some art, eat something. or even, swap your tiktoks or reels for longform content. watch a movie, or a youtube video (i'll post some of my favourites soon). work on a puzzle. there's a whole world out there
switch up your position. go sit on the couch. sprawl in the grass outside. sit at your desk, or the dining room table, or on the kitchen counters. anywhere but your bed. for bonus points, make your bed
know that this will pass. this is probably the least useful advice on here. but things will get better, i promise. try to remember that this isn't forever. you can do this. it's all about baby steps. if you can do even one of these things today, you will feel just that much better.
