End of the Week Roundup

So here's a quick summary of what I've been up to the first week here. It's a little late but that's alright. I'm also doing it in bullet form because I'm lazy and I'm already over writing long posts.

Tuesday 1/13

Orientation session 2

Completely blanking on what I did.

Wednesday 1/14

Orientation session 3

SHOPPING: leather jacket from topshop for £24. nuff said

Comedy Night at our academic building, the comedian Kat Luurstema is phenomenal. They didn't give us food until around 10 but gave us wine when we arrived.

Thursday

Went for a run in Hyde Park before class

Nando's which is the greatest thing ever

First day of class (British Economic Policy)

Family style potluck with the people on my half of the floor.

Start of semester party: Amazing. 

Friday

Book sale and grocery shopping with people from my floor. I bought juice and hummus aka I am a functioning adult.

Met up with two friends from high school

Went to Kensington High Street, a sketchy Thai restaurant there, and then took the tube to Old Street in Shoreditch and went to a pub there called Horse & Groom

Saturday

Westminster, Big Ben, London Eye, Trafalgar Square.

I touched one of the lions' butt.

Rain

that's all i have to say. Just kidding but it did rain a lot today, apparently more than it usually does so everything was extra gloomy looking. But we had our academic and social orientations today starting bright and early from 9 to 12 at the Royal Geographical Society. There was a cop that came and talked to us and lemme tell ya, the dude was hilarious (Ex. "Try not to drink too much and hurt yourself. It's not that I care about you, it's that I don't want to have to do paperwork."). Then my roommate, another girl that goes to BC, and I went to this crepe place for lunch. Great decision by the way. I got a chicken & pepperoni crepe and it was legitimately a pizza in crepe form.

After that the RAs from the Crofton, our dorm, took us on a boat tour on the river Thames. We started at Westminster and went all the way to Greenwich so we got to see places like the London Eye, the London Bridge, Tower of London, Parliament, Big Ben...etc. We got dropped off in Greenwich in front of the Royal Naval College and had to find our own way back which in retrospect was probably a good idea. Kinda like pushing a kid into a lake to teach him how to swim: the tough love strategy, ja feel? We (my two roommates and I) took a bus from there to North Greenwich and ended up making friends with these two other boys who were also in the program and equally as lost. We got off the bus and got on the tube and miraculously made it back to the Crofton after about a solid hour, probably more. It was kinda nice though, getting lost and wandering around in the city and picking up new friends along the way.

We got back at around 5 and went to dinner with our RA and people from our floor at this Moroccan restaurant called Coco Momo just a couple blocks away. It was pretty fun, even though I was 99% asleep at this point and slightly antisocial. The food was good and it was good getting to know the other people on my floor. Which brings us to now, where I'm clinging on to lucidity and watching the Pats/Ravens game in the right half of my laptop screen. Below are a few of the pictures I took today so you can live vicariously through my jet-lagged self. 

TL;DR Yo soy tired. Had orientation, one of the RAs is cute, chicken&pepperoni, went on a boat tour, pushing kids in lakes who don't know how to swim, salmon salad, pictures.
