I’ve gotten lazy about actually posting things, so here’s a self-portrait I did in February. I’m really happy with the shading, not so much with how much my face in this reminds me of my grandmother’s. You win some you lose some, I guess.

I originally posted this photo to the wrong blog, and only just realized I never got around to posting it here. Here’s Marc-André Fleury. I started this around the beginning of playoffs last year, maybe drawing goalies is good luck?

For the Month of Hockey Art @monthofhockeyart, here’s Henri Richard in blue and red Crayola markers. This was for the prompt “Draw a hockey player, using only the colors of their team” and “Draw your favourite Original 6-era hockey player”. It came out looking a whole lot like Gordie Howe, and I’m not really sure why but I’m happy with it anyway.

I decided to branch out and do some work with oils. These were done using Duo AquaOils, mostly blended with water instead of turpentine or oil mediums because you can do that with these.
Top is Adams River, near Salmon Arm, BC.
Bottom two are from Jasper National Park.
All are painted from my own photos.

Portrait of Tarja Turunen, using purple crayola marker and water. It’s cool how something that basic can be used to make something a lot less simple.
